The book you read is simply nonsense. The trade war launched by the US government against China is the result of American companies investing in China spending money to lobby the US government in order to suppress Chinese companies and allow US companies to gain more benefits. Micron, which was recently sanctioned by China, is one of them.China is help all foreign capital as much as possible. Musk once praised China's foreign capital assistance efficiency far better than that of Europe and the United States! This book talk about China ignores foreign capital's complaints , which is basically a thief shouting catch a thief! The book you are reading should be used by interests with veste to spend money to brainwash someone. They have done bad things themselves and shifted the responsibility to China! You also mentioned that the author said that he believes that the biggest strategic mistake of the United States is the weaponization of the US dollar and underestimation of China, but I think the reason for the final failure of the United States is their self-inflated, China has spent 2/3 of the past 3000 years, China's national strength is the number one in the world, and more than 1,000 years ago, China's economic footprint was as far as Europe, Africa, Southeast Asia, but China has never invaded or colonized other countries or regions. China is a peace-loving country, and treats and loves it equally. Weak and small, for all the weak and small countries that come to worship, China’s gifts in return are several times the gifts they give, our ancestors taught us this way, self-inflated will bring harm to ourselves!🙄

Taiwan has belonged to China since ancient times. The Potsdam Declaration and the Cairo Declaration after World War II have clearly stated that Taiwan belongs to China. In the end, China will unify Taiwan. The United States just likes to use others as its own bargaining chip to obtain its own interests. Since World War II, the United States has used Taiwan, which is governed by the Chinese opposition party, to contain and coerce China in exchange for benefits. Look at them saying that they recognize one China, but they use the word "aggression" to describe the process of China's reunification! 😏
@QQ-hp8mh
@QQ-hp8mh Год назад
Today, the Chinese government continues to give various preferential policies to Taiwan, hoping that the two sides of the strait can be reunited peacefully, but the current ruling party in Taiwan wants to split China independently. If they really declare independence, the Chinese government will use force to unify Taiwan! 😎

This is why the Chinese are becoming increasingly negative towards the US government. After WWII, the Soviet Union, the United States, and China, as the three victors of the war, issued a joint declaration that Nazi Japan must return all occupied territories to China, Taiwan and Manchuria, and the Kingdom of Korea was independent. The Kingdom of Ryukyu (Okinawa) was also supposed to be independent.

The hegemony of the US dollar is actually very unfair, equivalent to the United States imposing mandatory taxes on other countries. China is the largest trading country, so the losses are the greatest. Under the US dollar system, China has reached the upper limit of development, and if China wants to further develop, it must inevitably break the US dollar monopoly. China has no other choice. China does not want to compete for hegemony, but for its own interests, as well as for international fairness and justice.

Hi Sabrina, bless up! I’m taiwanese living in China. Taiwan was a province of China and when there was a civil war in China between the ruling kmt party and the communist party, the losing kmt party fled to Taiwan in 1949. The communists did not go in for the kill, partly because everyone was tired of war and also because the kmt was supported by the US. So Taiwan has been effectively treated like a renegade province. An analogy would be if the two parties in america had a war and the republicans lost and retreated to Texas. Does that mean Texas is no longer part of America? It’s a tough question but what I do know is america should mind it’s own business and let China and Taiwan work it out themselves.

China encourages and supports Chinese enterprises to participate in the infrastructure construction of African countries, and requires enterprises to abide by contracts, keep promises, and complete project construction with high quality.What US brings to the African people is color revolution, political struggle, division, and war.Former U.S. President Trump said in many speeches that Africa is garbage.China has a history of aiding Africa for 60 years. The United States has only begun to pay attention to Africa because of the competition between China and the United States, sending high-level officials to visit Africa. So many of them in China and on RU-vid. Ask yourself and other Americans what they know about the 300 years of American history.. There are many other good writers talking about China / USA issues.

They probably will have a revolution after the dollar collapses because people can barely feed their their kids these days. Apparently everyone in the West has forgotten how the French Revolution started. Then Russia will decide it's time for regime change in the US. When the US is asked to surrender that's when they'll threaten to nuke Russia. Russia will believe it and launch hundreds of nuclear warheads on military targets. Plus I also think the EU and UK want their bases closed down, some politicians in Germany are already demanding it. If there's a revolution inside the US I think the EU and UK will be neutral but the US will threaten them and then they'll declare war also.

I didn't know any case that Chinese government "alienates" US business community in China before tension begins. It is hard for me to believe so, because it contradict to my personal experience. Did Kishore give any cases in the book? The only think I know could be the reason is tax rate. It was 15% for foreign, 30% for domestic company, then they adjusted it to 30% for both domestic and foreign. I don't think it is unfair to American companies, because it apply to all foreign and domestic companies, including American business. Chinese government may ask for additional things if American company needs special favor. E.g.: Tesla needs land and port access to build a factory, tax exemption, Shanghai government gave the land for free and built the roads, ports leading to the factory, and gave tax exemption for first 5 years, in exchange, Shanghai government requires Telsa to use Chinese suppliers. Everybody was happy in the end.

Very well presented Sabrina. I agree with most of the points that Professor Kishore Mahbubani made except the point on China's strategic mistake made towards the US. I believe that America became disillusioned because they believed that the Chinese cannot be smarter than them and therefore cannot improve and produce high quality things. However they were proved otherwise and China shot ahead of them in so many technologies that they just couldn't bear the truth. This made the US very angry and from history we all know what happens when US is angry. One fact that is little known is that in today's modern living, China invented around 60% of the things we use today. The ideas(research books) were stolen from China by the West and America but somehow China managed to catch up and even surpassed the West. On these facts, refer to the research Professor Joseph Needham (University of Cambridge) carried out on the Chinese inventions. Another little known fact is that before the Western domination of the world, China and India were two of the largest economies until they were destroyed by western powers and China suffered 150 years of humiliation.

*189. Draft Memorandum From Secretary of Defense McNamara to President Johnson* _Containing China_ The plan to contain China was hatched in 1965. The Secretary of Defence at that time, McNamara said, “There are three fronts to a *long-run effort to contain China* (realizing that the *USSR* “contains” China *on the north and northwest* ): (a) the *Japan-Kore*a front; (b) the *India-Pakistan* front; and (c) the *Southeast Asia* front.” The US had failed in its efforts to recruit Russia but succeeded with Japan, South Korea, India, Papua New Guinea, and the Philippines. _Shaping the World Into Our Own Image_ “….. *the role we have inherited and have chosen for ourselves for the future is to extend our influence and power to thwart ideologies that are hostile to these aims and to move the world* , as best we can, *in the direction we prefer*. *Our ends cannot be achieved and our leadership role cannot be played if some powerful and virulent nation-whether Germany, Japan, Russia or China-is allowed to organize their part of the world according to a philosophy contrary to ours* . Two down, Germany and Japan. And two more, Russia and China, to go. history.state.gov/historicaldocuments/frus1964-68v03/d189
