Love your videos about China and the experience. Do they have any Jamaican cuisine in China for whenever you get a craving for the taste and is it authentic like in Jamaica? If not, what a great opportunity for someone to open a Jamaican style eatery there.
@@JonesyTheCat It doesn't matter which idealogy is adopted by a gov't. The most important is people can live a happy life with little worries. A gov't needs to be flexible, creative, and innovative in solving common problems for people and meeting people's needs as the situation changes. A gov't needs to be sensitive to people's needs, be responsive, and be effective in delivering the solutions to the people. Most US/west people are brainwashed to believe communism is equal to evil just because communism contradicts Western individualism and capitalism. Asian and Chinese societies value collectivism more than individualism and they have the right to choose how to live their lives, choose their gov't form, and how their countries will be governed. US/West has NO RIGHT to force other people and countries to accept their values of "democracy" and individualism. When US/west forces others to accept their "fake" democracy, they are violating the "democracy" value they believe in. Most Chinese agree with their "dictator" CPC gov't with more than 90% approval rate. US/west should stop smearing the great CPC gov't respected by most Chinese, with fabricated evil China stories. Chinese in the 21st century are living the best lives they ever have since the 5,000 years history of China.
Many Ukrainian are now in China due to the war. They make also videos about their life there. You can look for them and learn more about China through their cameras.
All those existing rules like for example “requiring 2 IDs as reference” is a throw-over to the colonial days in many anglophone colonies like in my country until changes were made as the country progressed and modernized. I feel Jamaica is still almost unchanged since its independence. My 2 cents!
The West is not rich because of "democracy", but "democratic" because it is rich, and the reason I use quotation marks here is that I do not consider Western "democracy" to be democracy. If you are familiar with history, you will find that the Western "democracies" are the same countries that plundered and slaughtered in Africa, Asia, and Latin America in the 19th century. 100 years ago, these countries were "rich", but not "democratic". The King of Belgium beheaded Africa in the 19th century, but he was not democratic, but dictatorial king. I'm not advocating "dictatorship" and "autocracy", because these two words have been distorted by the West... If I have any expectations, it is that I hope that young people from Asia, Africa and Latin America will come to China and use your eyes to know the real China, without the interference of English, only pure facts.
Yes , those “ ideaology terms “ were invented by westerners, means it was a serious problems in their history, but not necessarily the case for other countries expecially in China
I recently came back to Germany from a 3 month stay in China (Beijing & Xinjiang) and had a big reverse culture shock. I know Germany since earily childhood and it's no secret that Germany is not the most friendly, positive or hospitable country, despite being a rich country (for some wealthy folks at least). However it still shocked me because after staying for some longer time in China I just got used to the positive vibes, feeling of safety, amazing and cheap transportation, simplified and fast processes, and kindheartedness in China. Don't get me wrong, I was happy to see Germany again, but the positive vibe turned into a rather depressive one immediately at arrival in Germany: Everyone just stares aggressively and quietly at everyone, as if everyone is suspicious and their enemy. Paying customers are commanded to leave the cafe/restaurant, just because they finished their (overpriced and tasteless) sandwhich and coffee 5 or so minutes ago and just wanted to relax a couple minutes after eating/drinking (even though still plenty of empty tables/benches), homeless people and drug addicts everywhere, asking you for empty bottles or money, some of them aggressive and following you, police is very aggressive (I'd never get the idea to ask them for help as it usually brings you trouble. In China no problem), train staff shouting at customers for accidentally buying the wrong but equally expensive ticket (our ticket system is HELLA complicated with dozens of ticket-types for the same route). And of course problems with the trains again (even though we pay a fortune on train tickets for even very short distances) and good luck getting your money back hahahaha. Finally on arrival at my city's trainstation I get greeted by the sight of my bicycle missing parts (stolen) and having air-empty tires (some people cut them, I guess just for fun or because people love to ruin other people's days here?). Those things happened also before my China trip but I always kept quiet and sometimes even thought that it's my fault and I deserve the cold treatment in Germany, because I did something wrong (Nope, I didn't do anything wrong). It's only after my China trip that I FULLY realize it's TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE and we should never tolerate what's going on in the west. My experience in China gave me more confidence to speak up and defend myself.
Once I lay over in the airport in Germany, the staffs were incredible rude and disrespectful, but some locals were good people, the airport almost no “service “ , you can’t see the staffs smiles (winter, December,2019)
@@weizhang2834 yeah the condescending and completely unnecessary rudeness of authorities and those who feel like authorities is really dragging one down here. It's like they don't want people to even exist on this planet. I'm glad some good local people made your experience less shitty. There are some really good, kind Germans who suffer from the cynical inhumane atmosphere in Germany too.
What you have written are totally true. I am in Germany since 25 years. In this time I have witnessed the decaying of this country. I am now quite regretted that I have choices to stay here after Studium instead of returning to China.
Agreed with you Sabrina, having lived in Canada for about 50 years, a retired civil servant for government, and College Professor, and have multiple University degrees in Science, Economics, and Business, North America democracy is not a real democracy, it is a pseudo democracy, citizens are given a perception of rights and freedom, like the rights to vote, but actual policies that citizens want the government to implement, can not be realized most of the time. Having involved in political parties, elections and policy decisions making processes, I can conclude (as an insider) that our democratic system fails. When and if it works, it is an extremely EXTREMELY “SLOooow” process.🙁, ❤️from 🇨🇦🇨🇳🇭🇰. However, I may add that USA political system is worse! It is so corrupt, oh boy,I can write a book about that. Anyway, keep showing and sharing your stories and thoughts about your experiences in China! ❤️your work!
There is no best system for all countries, just what fits the people most. In Singapore, we have essentially a single party government too but we like our government and it has worked wonders for us. China and Singapore are similar in many ways.
Western media tends to question and criticise Singapore's one party government. BBC Hardtalk interviews with Singapore's leaders are always very sharp and pointed. I believe if Singapore was a failure, then Western media would not be drumming on about the one party state.
@@jefferytie US seems to have two parties but actually, they function as one (dictator) party for both parties serve the same 1%. Requote from the Internet: US people can change the government party but not the country policies. China people can't change the government party but can change the country policies.
Yes, live without fear. But people can't carry guns around and shoot other people, can't take drug openly and act like a zombie, can't erect a tent in the street, can't take away any goods (below $950) in a shop and walk away freely. Sad we can't do these in China.
I was so sad to see you left China last month. I thought you were not coming back! I thought you were mistreated in China and left! I’m so glad to see you back and call China home!!!! 👏👏👏👏👍👍! You know China loves you ❤
I'm not Chinese and don't live in China, but I approve this message. Because the Chinese government is just so much into the wellbeing of its people, more than most countries's governments care about their people
Glad you feel at home and happy in China! China is always perceived by stereotype as not a very diverse accepting country and i see all the time people just talking negativity about it which really makes me feel regretful sometimes because they can't see through all the skewed opinions. But seeing that people from different countries settle down there and is able to call China home is really nice to see. It means the country is moving in the right direction of striving to be a better place and opening their doors a bit more. They have come so far albeit with lots of hardship and taking a different path from the west, but i have always thought, there is more than one way to be successful who said that there is only one way? So good on them for not giving in and working hard to get where they are today.
There were many foreigners traveled to China prior to the Han Dynasty more than 2,000 years ago, and there were many foreigners living in China, especially the Tang Dynasty about 1,500 years ago. China has been a multi-ethnic country since its birth more than 5,000 years ago.
You brought tear to my eyes. We are not so lucky as you. We are too old to moved back; born in the wrong time; 8th generations oversees Chinese. Thanks to the Western "democracies" plundered my ancestors land; postings of "Chinese and dog are not allowed" in all the parks we were told.
@suhadihadi1297 I don't blame them. I know how they feel, I myself was one of the brainwashed overseas Chinese; born saluting the Queen, and wonder why I wasn't white.

don't blame the ansectors. the immigrants before 2000 was corrected, simply seeking for a better life aboard. but if we read the human history, china always no.1 in the world except 200 years from 1850, now China is back to be no.1.

If things go crazier in my country. I want to go to China. I know no country is perfect but I think they're ahead of us in different stuff. If we don't learn we're lost. I'm glad you're having a good life and being thankful for it.❤

I am a foreigner that lived in China for over 20 years and I do consider China as my home even though I will be a forever expat in China due to it being not open for immigration. I have a few tips for foreigners who truly love China and wants to make a home in China for the long term: 1) easiest and most reliable way to settle in China and make it home is to marry a local. Getting the family visit visa is even easier than getting tourist visa. 2) second most reliable way to stay in China long term is to have good network of close friends...not just any friends, but an entrepreneur friends who owns company that you can use to issue a work visa for you. 3) Operate your own business in China. Has various minimum requirement. 4) have a proper job in China, but this is not reliable for foreigners. if you lose your job, you don't get to stay in China. 5) the hardest way for a long term stay in China is to get the permanent residence in China....but to have this, you probably will have all of the above to qualify. Foreigner will never be Chinese and there won't be too much of your own race in China (unless you are Han ethnicity). This is by design as the government and people will not likely support an open immigration policy for the foreseeable future despite them being very friendly and welcoming to most visitors and expats.
Although China is welcoming to foreigners as Sabrina has pointed out, the country can’t really afford to be open to immigration as it already has over a billion people. It’s a huge task to take care of such a huge population. Imagine if a flood of immigrants entered China. It will overwhelm the system.
Huge population of the Han ethnicity is the reason for its immigration policy. But recently i'm encouraging them those Chinese men to marry African woman if they want an 11 good soccer players in the future. 😅
hi sabrina..new subscriber here from the philippines... guess what?china is being painted bad here..how i wish i have a time soon to go visit china one day..
I think what we witness in the West is society in which the individual tramples on the collective. I had a taste of what you experience, simply by having lived in both the USA and the UK. Even though the UK is still the West, I felt safer, even being a special constable there, because of the difference in level of gun violence. Without the same level of threat from gun violence as in the USA, in "less free" UK, I experienced a greater level of freedom. I went to university and never had to worry about active shooters, though, once the USA started its War of Terror after 9/11, I often got funny looks from people because I looked like a terrorist to them when I carried my rucksack, me being part Asian and looking darker than most in Scotland.
In the west we have “democracy”in name and form. Having to choose between 2 parties pursuing the same policies is NOT democracy. China shows the essence of democracy and how it should work by fostering policies that benefit the people not just interested parties
Wow Sabrina I hope you get to stay in China for as long as you want!! If you get fully fluent in Chinese I hope you wind up as a professor at a Chinese university so you can stay your whole life if you want!
Sabrina I totally agree with you that one does not have to be rooted in the place he or she was born. We are free to be where we find happines. We only live once, so happiness matters ! ❤
its good sabrina, you went out of china to see the very recent society and humanity out there in the west...and you derive a genuine feeling and fair comparition....its also about the mentality & nature of china peoples whom used to be helpful towards strangers in trouble as long as we are polite and respectful......we can imagine those aweful happening like ran out of electricity and water pipe in jamaica might really blew your mind and you cant wait to fly back to your beautiful apartment the next day......when you reached back to your apartment, you must have told your self " i miss you so much babe"ha ha ha.....home is always home right....not to mention you look at your outstanding swimming pool......bring your dear parents to china sabrina...makes them happy ...
Sabrina, Welcome home to China. I am glad you feel happy living in China. I think I will to move to China someday. I am tired of living in America. Its getting worst in america and getting better in China going forward into the future. :)
Love your travel blogs. You have such an adventurous, open minded and vibrant personality. I myself love to travel and compare different cultures and lifestyle. Am also from Jamaica and been to every continent except Australia. I have a love/hate affair with Jamaica some of which you mention - power cuts, water cuts, crime, opening bank accounts LOL etc. I feel happy when I am in Jamaican on vacation but living there is fraught with hardships. Been to China twice and it is super safe for any race or sex , modern and efficient. I know why you like it there - everywhere big or small towns are clean, no homeless, beggars, street hustlers, gangs of rude boys or girls in batty riders hanging out waiting for customers. Love the night markets/malls and food choices, also the culture of exercise/dance after sundown where people meet in public place to socialize and dance. No wonder they have long life expectancy. I look fwd to your travel blog. By the way Sabrina you are also very attractive but I dont have a chance since almost 80.
Hi Sabrina I'm so happy that you move back. to china is better for you n for me to when my granddaughter will graduate from high school I'll move to Beijing china my girlfriend is from there, and I'll live in china with peace n happy life ,i love America but I'm not happy here America is out of control there are a lot of waco people in America, thanks for another video cheers n hulahulaluia
You said it perfectly! I always say how much “freedom” is too much where society start to eat itself from the inside. I’ve always been interested in China’s history and I’ve been researching the government structure and it just makes sense
😄😄😄 Respect. Such an insightful discussion with substantial evidence (your personal experience) and convincing analysis from someone of your age. By the way, I had a similar experience to what you had with that QR code thing in a restaurant in China before pandemic. A friendly girl came to my rescue. She helped me pick the food and even process the payment from her phone (she scanned that QR code, and, of course, I paid her equivalent cash). All the best wishes to you, Sabrina.
Speaking about opening bank accounts in Jamaica, I remember at an NCB branch that was close to me once, they told me that the manager had to know either me or my references before them to approve me account. I had to go to another branch and then transfer my account to that branch close to me. It was ridiculous.
Didn't realise you are back super fast-for once thought so you will be shooting several videos introducing your home country. Can feel you're really missing this 'home' from this video and thank you for sharing (a "hua ren" from S.E. Asia)
Your country is same situation in India too ! I was live in India around 20 years in India. Very big problems electric drink water ! very poor infrastructure !
I lived in China from 2000 to 2010 for 10 years. Somehow I never had power outages even once. Don’t know how they did it. Lived in California from since 2010. Power outage is a norm once or twice a year.
Every public accident will lead to some officers get fired , for example, the subway system stop working for 10 minutes, it’s a big accident for China cities , but happens very often in San Francisco, people used to it and accepted it
I lived in the Seattle and Miami for 2.5 decades until 2020. I never saw the kind of power outage that Sabrina is talking about. So I don't really know what kind of power outage you experienced in California. We're not talking about the type that was caused by thunderstorm or hurricane. We're talking about ERATIC POWER SUPPLY..

As a Chinese living in western democratic country for more than 10 years. My conclusion is no country is perfect. There are lots issues in China. But I am confident that China would never like western style freedom, as we have a population of 1.4 billion and we wanna live in an environment that makes us feel safe, harmonious, and chaos free. Thats why if you compare the crime rate worldwide, China's crime rate is much lower compared with democratic countries such as USA, UK, India etc. China got hatred so much by western medias just because our political ideology is different with them. But think about US, the government can't even control gun usage, the number of mass shooting in the US has quickly increased in recent years. But in China guns are strictly prohibited. And one thing I'm proud of being a Chinese is our country never interferes in any other countries' politics and sovereignty, as we respect each individual country. So many western medias criticize China is a big threat, that's absolutely ridiculous. China loves peace, no matter in the past or current.
Whenever I hear someone bragging about freedom, all I hear is selfishness. Whenever I hear someone bragging about democracy, all I hear is ignorance. Things just never change.
Glad to see u back in China, but never thought it would be...so soon! However good to have a nice little break to see family back at home. Also expecting your china vlog to come in full force with lots of love to u, Sabrina
China is probably the only developing country that developed despite the interference of the west. If you need loans from IMF, you are likely going to remain poor. Most of the other developing nations like Jamaica have to agree to certain conditions before they can get IMF loans. And these conditions often keep these nations continue to be poor.
In fact, Democracy has never been the way of developing a poor country. there is no such examples! there are plenty of countries get developed and then become democracy. Good governance makes a country successful! not democracy! Thank you for your great work! Sabrina!
You r right as any political system whether democracy or autocratic is only as good as those who are running the show. We have witnessed so many of those so called democratic nations failed miserably n India is a shining example
For me Communist or Capitalist, who is bring happiness to the people who is the Goodnist. Been travelling to some countries, I didn't saw any government like the Chinese government who is really working for their people. Most so-called democracies in the West shouting loundly but they never deliver their promises, it's just election slogan, after election slogan forgotten, live never changed.
For the betterment of management individual rights to freedom cannot supersede collective community group. Unlike the West, China rich n famous have no rights to interfere with politics and government facilities n services are for the common people. Sabrina therefore lives n feel more equal in China than Jamaica.
Greeks had told the world that democracy wouldn't work. Only the US/Europeans are crazy about "democracy" and use "democracy" as a weapon to invade other countries.
It's not a mistake but a noble idea. Despite being a fan of China, i support n admire democracy, the main problem is that most of these so called democratic nations aren't democracies but plutocracies
@@thanasisrks4944 The problem is not with democracy but those who are in charge. Any political system whether democracy or autocratic is only as good as those who are running the show n can be open to abuse. The same communist party that was responsible for China's backwardness n mass poverty, but with a change in leadership n mindset has enabled it's spectacular transformation n phenomenal progress within a short period of time.
