Sweet bamboo sticks are safe for Chins. You just have to be careful with them as when they are chewed they can splinter and be quite sharp. I wouldn't leave them unattended with the sticks but they are great boredom breakers.
I remember when this sound was new to me and u and I actually tried to figure it out lol I posted it and we didn't know lol how bout my boy he'll fake cry to get attention no joke it's hilarious. I gotta get it on video 😂he's the one that started the gobbling. Only one who does it. He does it when he gets scared and when he's excited sometimes lol and how's come my girl she'll cry almost it sounds like when this male goes over to her cage to visit when it's playtime and they'll groom each other through the cage I watch lol no babies here lol but she's not hurt. She loves him. She doesn't like the one who she did love before lol she now pees on him and gets her fighting stance going then taunts him smdh lol so she's not in pain when she does this cry type thing. It's almost like when they're babies I guess and grooming. Lemme finish the video hahaha maybe u show it lol
@@lenapaws I knew which one you meant, I remember that conversation as well 🙂 It's what made me try and capture it on video/audio. How old is the female that cries when being groomed? If she quite young it might be she is still making baby sounds. Some adults never grow out of that sound though and will make it when another chinchilla grooms them it's kind of sweet really 🙂

Hey Ally, I appreciate your videos and have commented in the past over different advise :) I have a 3 year old male chinchilla, very hyper and always popcorning around me, but never really one for just sitting with me and being stroked/held, unless just to get him from a to b. Over the past few days he's suddenly spends loads of his time outside the cage, just sat on me, and even just being held in my hands. He seems to be eating and drinking as normal, and really excited to get out the cage as usual, but once he's out he just seems to want to sit in my lap for most of the time. Have you had this before, where a hyper chinchilla seems to suddenly change and become pretty relaxed? Is he just suddenly really comfortable with me after a few years of having him, or is this unheard of? Maybe I'm just being paranoid 🤣
Some chinchillas do mellow with age , I have had that happen before with some of my more hyper chinchillas, so it could just be he's gotten over his super hyper phase. Keep a close eye on him though as sometimes a change in personality can be due to illness , for example a calm chinchilla suddenly becoming aggressive can be a sign that they are not well vice versa. If there are any other changes I would go to the vet for a check up to be sure.
