Chinchilla usually are very sensitive and fragile creatures only to think why they were born into this world and they will continue going forward until all of their enemies are obliterated
Well, besides being loud at night and chewing onto the corners of your walls they were actually pretty cute and I love chinchillas, still need a big cage for them tho
Its alos important to add that. 1) they can't get wet, which is why you use the dust. 2) They require A LOT of attention. If they go too long without attention, they will roll into a ball and die.
you cant bath them with water in general because when their fur does get wet, its density doesnt allow it to dry as quickly and promotes bacteria growth under their fur which is harmful!! dust helps absorb moisture trapped in their coats to prevent this as well
My sister son fell in love with litter guy. So before she knew he was there's. She fell just crazy about him the little trills they make are so. Sweet and wonderful. 😂😂😎😎😎😁😁🥳🥳🥳❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Chinchillas have their origins in Los Andes (Argentina, Chile, Bolivia and Peru). The Incas used their pelts to make fluffy coats that were excelent cold protectors for the Incas. Then in 1820 a Chinchilla specimen appeared in a London zoo and got popular and famous. 15 years later a German zoo did the same and then Chinchillas got famous for a long time (1820-1905). (Sorry if my english is horrible, im not very good speaking it. Hope u liked that context, and greetings from Argentina❤.)
If it makes you feel better I would have guessed based on your writing that your first language was English. You only misspelled one word and only by one (not even noticeable) letter, your punctuation and grammar is good too. A lot of native English speakers cannot write as well as you.
They need a lot of social time, or another chinchilla. In the wild they can live in massive groups, and so social interactions are intensely important.
“They’re not your ordinary cuddle buddies” Meanwhile the chinchilla is standing there prepared to fight you with a stick in it’s hand if you ever dare to pick them up for cuddles.
If you’re thinking of getting one DO NOT house it in your bedroom if you value your sleep. They are mostly nocturnal and will keep you up with their antics all night 😂
Correcting everything that was wrong in this video: Humans cannot damage their fur unless they have water on them Definitely not a popular choice (they’re very hard to take care of) It’s definitely not volcanic ash: it’s just dust maybe in the wild but volcanic ash would be very hard to get And they live up to 30 years in captivity and 18 years in the wild. Please do ur research.thank you ❤
years ago we had chinchillas for pets. They are little people. one was a needy little one who loved company. One was a grumpy little girl - very standoffish and our other little girl was a sweetheart.
Yeah.....that should have been stopped, not filmed. Keeping a prey animal like a chinchilla in the same house as a predator (the cat) has to be done so carefully or avoided altogether. Neither of them is fully aware in the way we are that they are your pet or that the other is as well. Cats have natural hunting instincts, and the fact that this cat is anywhere near the chinchilla is *not* a good sign for such a fragile creature. But funny haha, the chinchilla's fighting back, right? :/
I remeber petting one when i was in middle school. They are so soft that you actually cant even feel them until you actually touch their body. Its insane.
The fur on my Pomeranian undercoat was like that. I had 3 poms but hers was the softest I've ever felt, 100x softer than my other 2 poms. No idea why, I had all 3 since puppies and had her since she was 8 wks. She was the only black ppm tho, other 2 were orangey colored. God I miss them so much. I had to give away my 1st one, my only boy, after 4 yrs cuz of his horrible emotional and behavioral issues I spent 4 yrs trying EVERYTHING to fix. But he was def happier at his 2nd home with a retired couple. I lived alone and worked 14 HR shifts sometimes...only 4 days a wk tho. Ive cried every day since the 1st one passed away in front of me from heart & kidney failure. That was Oct 2020. My other baby died last June but suffered much much less & was put down peacefully on my lap. She was just too old to eat or walk anymore one day after deteriorating for 4 mnths little by little. She had kidney issues but she wouldve made it to 18 yrs old if we were able to get her the daily infusions she needed..we could only do like once every 3 days then every other day. She was almost 18 tho so I think she got a good nice long life. Now I'm disabled and finally dont work or go out socially like 4 nights a wk. Now I actually have the time to spend with a pet all day everyday so I was considering a chinchilla since I'm about to die of lonliness myself. I just turned 40 & dont rly have any friends left cuz of my mental health issues flaring up a few yrs ago and my meds just kinda stopped working so ita been rly rly rough & now ppl r busy wit important jobs and their spouses and kids anyway so its hard 2 maintain adult friendships 2 begin wit. If I had a husband or kids id be a lot less lonely but my depression/anxiety is too unstable. It would take a real hero of a man to be able to go thru this illness with me. Its taken a toll on my entire family. I sometimes ask God why me? Why did I get to taste a pretty normal life for almost 20 yrs then at 34 my meds started to work less and less till I couldnt take it & briefly had an opiate addiction. Once I got clean, we tried to find new meds and new treatments but nothing has rly worked so its been hell for like 4 yrs o & a bunch of horrible things happened to me also, I was homeless, I lost my house cuz of evil scumbag tenants/roomates who threateened me wit violence, was livin wit my mom tryin to evict these ppl for 10 mnths. Got put on wrong meds that made me insane for a yr. Got denied by disability & cant work or get along with anyone. Could barely leave the house. Went to a psych hospital on my birthday last yr involuntarily....lost both my dogs..more stuff too. I just hope god has a plan 4 me cuz idk how much longer I can take this. This isnt living, its existing. Animals are the only thing that makes me happy.
They also chew through everything, poop every other step, and cannot get wet under any circumstances. They’re fun little critters to own, but they legit live 15-20 years so it’s quite a commitment.
you talking about their acrobatic capabilities and survival in rugged terrains while the chinchilla on screen is dressed in a lil tux and top hat is what did it for me 😂

How do you keep him from destroying everything? My babies loooove to chew walls. They’re not allowed to free roam without supervision because they’re like toddlers 😂
@@em4703 maybe you are referring to the Viscacha (member of the chinchilla family) or Guinea Pig because Chinchillas are endangered and are illegal to hunt nowadays so you wouldn’t find their meat in a restaurant especially not a Mexican restaurant
So when I was sleeping over at a friend’s house and I was feeding it at midnight the chinchilla got wild for some reason, and leaped through the door while I was closing it, and my friend walks in to his chinchilla practically bouncing off the walls and he called it over and scolded me because food makes it wild.
My chinchillas were pretty far from the wall (when in their cage) and they somehow managed to chew a hole in the wall from so far away. No idea how they did it. They are very delicate, high maintenance pet and they are not a “starter pet” or a pet for a child. Lots of research needed if you want chinchillas. Same as hamsters, mice, gerbils even though everyone thinks it’s okay to give them horrible small cages and let their kids harass them. Small pets do not deserve to be treat poorly because you didn’t do any research about them.
I rescued a chinchilla. Top advice, if you want a cuddly pet, get a cat or something. Keeping a chin in a small (they need a lot of space) cage all day is like having a husky in a hot place.
Chinchillas are social. It’s best to have 2, unless you meet one that doesn’t get along with other chinchillas, which is rare. They also require cool temperature. If the temperature gets too hot they can have a heat stroke and die. They need lots of enrichment and daily free roaming time. There are many good videos about proper chinchilla care from experienced guardians.
Chinchillas are one of the most amazing, loving, and interesting creatures there are. They are highly sensitive and in tune. When I was a teenager I worked in a pet store that carried live animals, one of them being a chinchilla. I was the only person she liked. 😂 she escaped her enclosure on my day off and I was called in to scour the store lmao I found her. 😙 If they weren't incredibly expensive animals I would have taken her home but sadly as a teenager that was something I could not afford. I'm 33 and still think about her. ❤
@@SlickArmorThis was many years ago, as I am an "old head" these days. 😆 However, at current prices the chinchilla itself is about anywhere from $100-$2,000. They typically do better when there's more than one of them. They are extremely social and actually run the risk of becoming depressed if not socialized properly. There's also a lot that goes into taking care of them but as long as one does their proper research then owning a chinchilla pays back dividends. 💙
The fur isn’t damaged from being touched. It’s from the oil on your skin, just make sure your hands are really clean and dry before handling them and it’ll be fine. They are very fragile in general though so you have to be gentle. They feel like holding a cloud, a hamster feels heavier / more sturdy.
I had my boy Travis for a year and a half. But I kept getting sick so often and I had an allergy test. 26/27 things I was allergic to on the test and it included hay. His main source of food so I gave him to my best friend and he’s doing great! He had a really short unhealthy patch of fur but no matter how long or how quiet I kept our room. Few months after my friend got him she was shopping for some treats and saw some with vitamins and was like let’s try it!!! His lil bum is all fluffy again! We were both so happy especially with how simple the solution was.
I love mine and she's so sweet. She's loves the back of her neck and just about any place on her face scratched or rub. She even, what some call a barking sound while she sleeps. Mine doesn't like being handled too much, but on that rare occassion she will let me hold her so she can snuggle into my neck
Their fur being so dense also makes them immune to ticks and fleas because such creatures suffocate to death in their coat! Also if they get too much water in their fur it can even form mold within their fur
I used to have a Chinchilla when I was about 13, and sadly my step dad was an idiot and didn’t tell me that they needed more attention than usual and I was too young to know that. He lived with me for about a year and then once day I came home from school and went to hangout with him and he was rolled up into a ball and not breathing. Most heartbreaking pet death Ive experienced. If you get one as a pet, don’t leave it to your kids to take care of. EDIT: for you idiots all saying im blaming my parents, my stepdad was forsure an idiot…He ran over a cat we had after putting him on a leash in our front yard, he thought our hamsters needed fresh air one day and he decided to out their cage outside on his lunch break, during a 95 degree, muggy Michigan day on our porch that got no shade, killed them. And then when I was like 6, I had a turtle and he was convinced he was sick so he let him outside for no reason during the winter. So yea, im putting some blame on him. Don’t comment about me not taking responsibility because it was our whole family’s pet, and I was 13! 13! 1…3……………..
I’m so sorry. 😢 That was horribly unfair to both you and the chin. It’s sad that a lot of people think of rodents as “starter pets” when they’re all sensitive in various ways, take a lot of work and need vet care that isn’t cheap. Glad you recognize that it wasn’t your fault-it was up to the adult.
That's the story of pet rodents. They're like disposable pets (see how we treat rats and mice...most people haven't developed a big empathy for whatever similar animal) Hamsters in my town were like 5 euros (like 5 dollars really) every kid wanted one and most parents would just buy them and not care too much either. You can imagine them dying in every way possible...
@@sakurasfish2115Difference is most rodents like rats or hamsters lives for 1-2 years and one rat mother gives birth to like 10 baby rats. On the other hand chinchillas lives for 20 years and they give birth to 1-2 baby chinchillas so their life is more complicated
@@politycznagadka7368 yes a lot more complicated. On top of that all the requirements, they're so sensible. I don't think is that common though so probably most people that go for one are sensical owners.
My dad found one on the streets while it was being chased by some dogs. And it was in a town near Vorkuta, a polar zone city. Although it was closer to summer. We enjoyed having it, it was so cute and playful. Unfortunately, it died because of a stroke.
POV chinchilla: come on in little bee. POV bee: ok. A FEW HOURS LATER… POV another bee: where did you get that bee custom, it looks great. POV chinchilla: it was your friends…who am I kidding it was your friend!!😈 POV bee:👁️👄👁️
@@shell6467Yea but this applies more than ever to Chinchillas. For something like a Cat or Dog it’s pretty easy to understand and learn what to do. Just about everyone knows the bare minimum, walk to dog 2-3 times, let them out to shit and clean up, bath every so often, feed morning and night. Cats have even less things to worry about. Chinchillas on the other hand need this: 1. No water to get in fur (no baths cause it makes bacteria grow and hard to get out). Needs ash bath 2. can’t be over 75 degrees fahrenheit or they will die instantly 3. can’t let them get bored or lonely cause they will often curl up in a ball and just die if nothing peaks their interest 4. smell like shit if you don’t clean cage very often and well. can’t let them loose or they will disappear and pee everywhere 5. etc. Ngl one of the hardest animals to take care of because of the time and energy needed
@@skellybonz5467 my point is about regardless of species you still need to do research if you want to take cares of it even if it's a common household pets like cat and dog not about which pet requires more research
