The strong sense of melancholy and resolution that STAY WITH ME wants to convey in both lead boys WU BI and SU YU is so powerful to watch... OMG...!!! Since they both have to let go of the past and move into a new set of life together.... the process is really painful. Before they really can be completely happy ever after they still have both a lot of tears to cry. This moment at 0:30 from Episode 19 with WU BI breaking down in tears because of all what SU YU went thru trying to find the truth about his mother death is the most moving scene in a BL production in 2023 for sure. Those moving broken words: 如果我知道 是用这种代价换取真相 我宁愿不要 - Rúguǒ wǒ zhīdào Shì yòng zhè zhǒng dàijià huànqǔ zhēnxiàng Wǒ nìngyuàn bùyào. "IF I knew finding out the truth would be at such high cost (meaning SU YU's health and safety)... I would rather never find out anything at all". 🥺 😢 😭😭 I am glad that SU YU realized his mistake of doing so many things and suffering so much behind WU BI's back instead of telling him what he was doing, and what he was finding out, and planing with him what to do next. The way WU BI demands from SU YU to know on what grounds these all happened is essential for their future together: 对 你就是多管闲事 凭什么呀 - Duì Nǐ jiùshì duō guǎn xiánshì. Píng shénme ya = Right! You were really meddling in. And what for? 🤔 When I think that WU BI's uncle MO RENHE was actually expecting WU BI to go to see him and ask all those questions it makes all that what SU YU went thru really useless. That "And what for?" of WU BI is not a simple reproach to SU YU but it holds also the essence of that mistake made by SU YU. Of course... since everything have been already been done this painful way, and since WU BI has already avenged SU YU by even punching his own uncle in rage, the only possible reaction is to cry over it now, and to move on. If there is a lesson to learn from the Chapter of this Series "The Passion of SU YU" as written by Chai Ji Dan that would be the reasons why SU YU did all that. Is there a higher proof of true love possible for both of them...? SU YU is risking his life to uncover the truth and that way help WU BI solve that knot inside his heart in order to be happy in the future... and WU BI would rather keep SU YU safe and healthy than seeing him suffering so much because of him. The love they both have for each other is really unmeasurable. AND YET... that what SU YU found out from Uncle MO RENHE was not the real truth....!! Our little Angel Duo Duo is the one to unveil the key piece of evidence, by discovering a secret lock under SU YU's statue. The middle scene highlight here at 4:30 centers on that moment when SU YU for the very first time takes control saying: 别怕有 我呢 - Bié pà yǒu Wǒ ne = Don't be afraid. I am here. That is when we find out that WU BI's mother was murdered during a companies war issue years before, and not as a suicide in the way WU BI's uncle MO RENHE believed it to have been. For WU BI's father this must have been a huge blow... finding out that the woman he loved the most died under such circumstances. He failed to protect her... he failed to look properly after his son WU BI... and now he just can open up completely and let his son do and be whatever he wants to do and be. In this context it helped him also seeing WU BI enjoying his birthday party together with his mix family after WU BI's words to him in the diner celebration at his mansion: 他在哪儿 我在哪儿 - Tā zài nǎ'er... wǒ zài nǎ'er = Wherever he (SU YU) is; I will be together with him. And with those words WU BI really means everywhere: home, school, class... any place. By the way: WU BI's Birthday diner at the mansion together with SU YU is a remake of the reconciliation diner from ADDICTION Episode 11. The main difference is that the boys don't live together in WU BI's luxury apartment this time, but together with SU YU's father and their mix family. The last scene highlight here more than the last door closing over WU BI's mother death is a REMINDER to WU BI of how concentrated and focus anyone has to be in order to protect the people he loves the most. Lashing at his father with those words at 7:18 你现在说这些还有什么用 - Nǐ xiànzài shuō zhèxiē hái yǒu shé me yòng = What is the use from you saying these words now. Since WU BI knows how painfully it feels because of the pain he felt when SU YU was mistreated at his uncles house these words are also for himself. Being in the process of making up with father after spending some moments partly together solving this issue brings them closer together again. Now we should get ready for the Season's Finale block of Episodes starting tomorrow... With our little Angel Duo Duo leaving the setting to spend time with her ill grandmother somewhere else, so there is going to be more room of privacy for WU BI and SU YU. From the released BTS videos there are also a hotel room scene and a rooftop with them having a kiss moments; and an airport scene including MO YI with WU BI leaving... so many surprises ahead. We also know that there is a bloody car crash coming up next as well. Will that be an unfortunate accident, or another revenge act of the companies in war against WU BI's father; or from those criminals from their school front doors... or a family internal issue of the ruthless MO's...?? Whatever it is, we will have to go thru it together with SU YU... 😵💫🫣🥵 😭😭 For me personally this is already the best BL Series in 2023, and one of the best ever made. Xu Bin (as Wu Bi) and Zhang Jiong Min (as Su Yu) have been amazing in their characterizations, with a great chemistry and with a very natural acting style. There is not a single scene that feels forced, or fake, or fictional from their acting. There connection with the little angel Sun Yichen (as Li Duo Duo) has been also very enjoyable to watch, and something really new in a teen's romance drama BL Series. This is the very first time such a trio has been used as the lead cast of a Boys Love production. The script has been almost perfect... only with some moments when we can tell the director let go his imagination and desires a bit too far... overacting some key moments... but I think we should forgive him for wanting to heroicize those moments. I am sure that I will never be able to let this Series go completely, and will remain rewatching all of it and my favorite scenes over and over again in the years to come. Cheers...!
I just re read the Addicted series first and 2nd book and just watched ep 13 till the 2 kiss scenes and more and... This pales in comparison even though the actors did a good job reenacting emotions. I can see they're promising actors but even the cast's features don't fit the book. The dynamic of the OG characters is literally based on toxic masculinity and a constant fight of Bai Luo Yin (or I guess Su Yu here), between feeling like a man who can't submit, and submitting because he likes being taken care of and loved by Gu Hai (or in here Wu Bi). Gu Hai in the books is more cheerful and Bai Luo Yin kinda constipated and in this adaptation, both actors took a very different approach. Also, the s*x scenes, violence and passion are a huge part of the book. It's literally called "Addicted". Even that extremely violent and toxic scene (you kn which one I'm talking about) was a huge part of the storyline. If you can forgive that, then yeah, you're addicted. Also, everything here is censored. The OG cast went directly to the point when it came to s*x and the toxic masculinity and inner struggle was right on point. Ofc the budget was way lower but even the gritty scenery was more faithful to the book. The OG cast had chemistry like crazy and these 2 do have really good chemistry too, but if you read the books and watched the OG series before, this will definitely pale a lot in comparison. I'm not going to say disappointed, but I'll just say thank you for the effort, you did the best you could with what was allowed to you. Also, I'll make sure to follow Su Yu's actor in his next projects.
