My Grandfather was a subject of the Qing Dynasty. My Father, a subject of the British Empire. Today, I am a citizen of the Republic of Singapore. The old nations may seem like an ancient past, but they aren't that far away.

I really like this anthem. It really presents itself as being unique with its use of Chinese instruments.

Fun fact, the lyrics has NOTHING TO DO with the Qing dynasty. It's about Chiang Wei Shui, a famous Taiwanese cultural and activist leader in Japanese colonial era. This is only the First Part of the symphony. In the first sentence, she is saying the city he was born in Yilan, (3:00) 宜蘭城邊小街市 In the Second sentence she is describing that city, ("The wind is clear and the moon is bright"), (3:40) 風清月明好安居 In the Third sentence, she said that Chiang Wei Shui was born. (BTW he was born in 1891). (4:08) 渭水先生初出世 In Fourth sentence she says "At sunrise, thw dragon is sinking. The flag is changing" meaning that Qing was ceded Taiwan to Japan (that happened in 1895) . That's why you can hear a fragment of the Japanese national anthem in end of this part. (4:40) 日出龍沉換國旗

I am Japanese. Traditional Japanese culture was influenced strongly by China. When I listen to this music, I feel relax and as if I am in hometown.

My great grandpa emigrated from China during the end era of the Qing Dynasty in the early of 20th century, to West Borneo of Dutch Indies (now Indonesia). Though Qing Dynasty was not of Han people (they're Manchurian), but I love to hear this anthem. It's full of beautiful Chinese traditional music instruments.

This is incredible! I have bunch of Chinese friends (especially a Chinese/Vietnamese crush), I love traditional music!

I like how this anthem played out in each segment. The early part is about the rise of Qing Dynasty and how they successfully conquered back XinJiang and Tibet from the lost of Ming Dynasty. The middle part is about the start of colonialism from the West, particular the British Empire and France, they brought many problems to the Dynasty such as the Opium War and then created many inner conflicts such Boxer Rebellion and Taiping Rebellion. This eventually weakened the Dynasty. Finally the last 2 minutes of anthem foreshadowing and the inevitable, Dr Sun Yat Sen was frustrated how the Dynasty had became and seeing China became rotten almost to the core due to the incompetent and stubbornness of the Qing Dynasty, he decided to end the entirety of Chinese Dynasty circle.
