Aloha Sean! I love how you take your time to include all the things/info you ordered in your description. Which IMO is one of the reason why your Hawaiian food channel is better. As always thank you!
You guys never cease to amaze me of how well you put together a video. Huge Thumbs Up 👍 Keep producing the “Best of Best” reviews of your island 🌴 Mahalo Sean and Nhi 🤙
On a personal note , I notice you wear a lot of long sleeve t-shirts. Is there a particular brand you wear ? I might have to get a couple when I’m there next year for my holiday 🌴
@@RodSwansmad Yeah, I always wore long sleeves before because I use to sweat a lot when boxing and didn't want it to get my arm sweat on anyone. Lol. Just a habit for me now. But no particular brands, whatever is given to me or cheap is what I wear. Ca t go wrong with Ross shopping too for long sleeves🤙
I just love your editing 😅 always cracks me up!! 🤙 Also my heart is so warmed seeing the impact that something like the manapua man/woman has on low income communities 🤍 I grew up in a poor family and now I can't wait to find the manapua man when I come back and feel that sense of belonging and comfort! Happy Aloha Wednesday, your videos always take me back home when I can't be there, and encourage me to keep pushing forward 🙌🌈🌴
Aloha Maui Onion. You've always supported our channel and we appreciate it. And yes, I'm glad you commented on the Manapua Man for he is a big part of a lot of kids childhoods that grew up in low income areas. Hope you come back to Oahu and get to try the Manapua Man. Would like to take you and your man . Treats on me. Aloha again🤙💯😋👍
I love how you take the time to specify each place, things you ordered, price and address in your description box. I wish you could do more features on the top or best places to eat loco moço and plate lunches in Honolulu. Thank you for sharing your local insights. Very helpful and informative! Mahalo!
Aloha Eunice!! Mahalo for your kind words! We try our best to be as informative as possible! And we hope to do more videos that include plate lunches in Honolulu. We appreciate your support. Mahalo🤙😊
I’m surprise that almost all of the Dim Sum items are less than $5. Love your face when you watch a hi eat seafood😄. Thanks Sean&Nhi for another scrumptious video.😘😘
Aloha Honu67!! And yes, the Dim Sum was reasonable in such a nice dining restaurant at Ala Moana. And I envy Nhi eating all that delicious seafood😋 Mahalo for always supporting our channel!👍🤙💯
Great stuff Sean! Thanks for covering the Jade Dynasty. My friends are the owners of the restaurant. I emcee a lot of events there, along with the yearly Chinese New Year events, and have taken a lot of celebrities there for the KSSK radio interviews back when they were able to have them. My go to for my favorite Chinese food for sure.
Mahalo AL! Cool to know your friends are the owners. The staff is friendly and their prices are friendly too!! I was aware that was a place to hold gatherings and celebrations but didn't know to what extent until you explained it here. Always good hearing from you Al👍🤙
I can’t wait to show Wes a manapua man! Thank you for featuring Wes on your RU-vid channel! He is inspired to have his own one day. We are looking forward to eating at your Chinese food recommendations especially JADE Dynasty! Wishing you and Nhi a FUN and safe trip to Kenya from the Garcia Family! Can’t wait to book a training session after your trip.
Aloha Michele! Awww, hope Wes liked it and I was proud to have him in the video! Please let me know what you think of Jade Dynasty when you go. And.. yes I'll be here for a training session after our trip. Mahalo Garcia Ohana!:)💯👍🤙
Aloha Thomas! Thanks got always supporting our channel. And I wanna interview ppl that had the Manapua Man before when they would walk around and sell their goods on a stick!:)🤙👍
Aloha Sean, always enjoy watching you and your wife showing all of these awesome places in Hawaii, mahalo for your great videos! (Aloha from Maryland!)
Smiles on our faces today as we saw you guys dropped a new video. We definitely gotta hit up Jade next time. Do you ever go Kinwah on Kaneohe side across from Foodland? Family and I went there a lot as a kid. Speaking of childhood, manapua man off Kahuhipa was my jam for the noodles, manapua, and rice cakes. The aloha spirit and energy shown in your videos make me feel right at home braddah! Another great one! Talk soon! Myke, Jasmine, and the keikis. 🤙🏽
Aloha Myke, Jasmine, and the Keikies!!:) Yes Jades is a great place. It's advertised everywhere at Ala Moana. I just assumed it was expensive but it wasn't. And I use to order out at Kinwah all the time. The Chinese Chicken Salad with Gau Gee was my jam!:) And speaking of the Manapua Man, I forgot about the noodles. How could I forget. I'm sure we had the same Manapua Man since I live close by on Kahuhipa street. Had to bring the local concept too with them. Hope all is well and yes, talk soon. Mahalo🤙👍💯😋
ALOHA SEAN AND TO YOUR LOVELY WIFE. WE HERE IN SEATTLE JUST LUV YOUR FOOD ADVENTURE. YOU BOTH REALLY MAKES A GOOD TEAM. YOUR FOOD SELECTION TAKES ME BACK TO THE GOOD TIME IN HAWAII. MUCH MAHALO TO YOU FOR SHARING THE SPIRIT OF ALOHA.
Aloha Richard!! Mahalo from Hawaii to Seattle. I appreciate you supporting our channel and we try our best to bring good food and Aloha vibes. Hope you get to visit Hawaii soon! 💯👍😋🤙
Aloha! I’ve been watching your videos for a while now, loved my trip to Honolulu so much last year that I’ve booked to go again, so here I am taking notes before I arrive :) I found THE BEST chicken salad sandwich in the whole of Waikiki @ Pai’s Deli, right next to Duke’s. Not only is it the best sandwich but it’s also super affordable given everything else around, I literally ate one everyday. Would love to see you try one! Maybe even a video on the best sandwiches around town. Keep up the good work guys love watching and supporting you!
Aloha Robbie!! Mahalo for watching our channel and I'm glad your coming back for a 2nd time!! There's so much to explore!:) And wow, an affordable delicious sandwich in Waikiki? I'll have to check it out, and thanks for your suggestion! All ideas are welcome and I might have to do a sandwich video in the future. Mahalo👍🤙😋
Awesome Sean!!! That's quite diff to throw in the Manapua Man and Crack Seed store. Very local and somehow you managed to squeeze in a Burger and still keep an Asian theme! Gonna head to Jade Dynasty for sure. Mahalo!
Awww thanks Crucial Thinker. This video took more thinking than usual. We def wanted to incorporate the Manapua Man and the Crack Seed store. The burger is soo good too. Mahalo!👍💯🤙😋
Aloha HenHouse!! Mahalo for watching. Best wishes to your Papa and Tutu! Please come back and visit Kaneohe. I'm a Kaneohe boy at heart and still live here.🤙👍
Another dee-lishus video!!! I’ve walked by Jade Dynasty many times but never stopped in. Now that I’ve seen your video, I will definately stop by next time I’m in the area. I haven’t been to that CrackSeed store in a while. I love Almond cookies❣️ Maybe I’ll bump into you or Nhi 🤞🏼. Don’t you just love living in Kaneohe!!! Born and raised here and I truly cannot get enough of the Ko’olaus. but I better not get started…😄😄😂😂. Have a great time on your trip and be safe🤙🏼🤙🏼❣️🤙🏼🤙🏼
Aloha Urs Cruz . Mahalo for always supporting this channel. We appreciate you! And yes, please stop by Jade Dynasty. I always saw the signs but thought it was really expensive but it's not. And I had no clue you were from Kaneohe. I take the Koolau Mountains for granted but I shouldn't. Please try the crackseed store when you can. And yes, leaving for my trip tommorrow. Appreciate you 🤙💯👍and it's okay to get started 😂
Aloha Sean from Monterey California, where it's always cool 🌊 , thanks again for sharing , been waiting for an episode, ano ba Pare.... 🤙🏻 Much respect from the Ramos Family....
Aloha, Love Chinese Cuisine. I remember the Manapua Man back in the day up at Liliha Puunui working so hard walking with a wooden stick on his shoulder with 2 silver buckets filled with manapua, rice cake, and half-moon in the 1950’s. The Manapua Man is to be admired walking up Liliha-Puunui with the tin buckets full of dim sum. This is the epic history of the Chinese Manapua Man yelling out Manapua pepeau carrying is buckets on his back held by a wooden stick a bucket on each end of the stick. Aloha❤
Aloha Pam!!! Awwww I love heating those stories of the Manapua Man!! One day.. I would love to do an episode on the history of the Manapua Man and have people tell their stories!! I've heard that he would have a stick on his shoulder and just wish I could see pics and vids. Mahalo for sharing🤙
Wow. Makes me cry. I remember as a child in the early 70s. My mom would buy manapua, half moon and it was cheap too. I used to think how heavy it was to carry two huge tins on each side balancing with a stick on his back! I also remember he was an older man. and started seeing less of him as I got older, manapua trucks got popular and still exist today.
You need to try Legends Seafood Restaurant in Chinatown Cultural Plaza, it’s been our go to place for dim sum and house noodles for years. Especially the look fun, ha gao, siu mai, taro balls, just about anything (even chicken feet)! Love the fact that they still go table to table and show you what they have.
Aloha Keaukai! Mahalo for the suggestion! I was actually thinking about doing a Chinatown Part 2 and this would be a great suggestion since I don't know of much places inside the Cultural Plaza. Legend Seafoods Resturant it is! Thank you!
Another great video, thanks Sean.. I really want to try the Lagoon Chinese Restaurant. I want to try the Chicken Katsu. I love Loco Moco, I first tried it at the Rainbow Drive In. I drive my wife crazy because hen we plan our trip to Honolulu all I talk about is the foods I want to try, lol.. Keep up the great work !
Aloha John!! The Lagoon Chinese Resturant is really good! Local style too. And haha I'm sure your wife is gonna know exactly what you've been talking about for a while when she tries all the great Hawaiian food😋. Mahalo for watching🤙
like that you mention the cost of all the different items you try or mention. Most reviewers don't. It makes a big difference on deciding whether to try some place.
I think I ate at Lagoon Chinese Restaurant about 20 years ago, and it was great!! And Katsu is always a favorite, but damn! Don't skimp on the sauce! Get the real stuff! 😉 P.S. - Make sure to bless the rains down in Africa.
Aloha Epicurean! Oh nice. Didn't know how long Lagoon Chinese has been around so good to know they've been in business for a long time. I'll get some real sauce or maybe eat with you sometime 🤙 and thanks, we'll make an Africa video too🤙💯👍
Aloha Danny, yes, will eventually get to doing a best plate lunches and I'm allergic to seafood so that one might not cpme out. Lol. Mahalo for watching🤙👍
lagoon drive is the bomb! when working at KAISER Moanalua you already know Sean we all order from there every lunch time! hahaha Chinese Crispy roast pork with cake noodles with gravy all ova ... kanack attack aftah
Aloha Nele!! Your daughter is gonna love it there. Glad she watched the video. Hope you guys go to the Kade Dynasty soon and please tell her I said hi.🤙💯👍😋
Taro and manapua are not traditional Chinese dishes but I would agree it is integrated in hawaii local culture. The integration is my favorite part about hawaii where you can experience all different cultural influences including Chinese.
Mahalo Misha! Yes, Def integrated into Hawaiian culture. I like the traditional Chinese places too so I'm able to know what's old and new school! And yes, Hawaii is heavily influenced by Chinese, Asian culture. Mahalo for your input🤙👍
Manapua has its roots in China where they are known as char siu bao. Char siu bao is a Cantonese dish of steamed buns that are filled with a mixture savory pork and various sauces.
Aloha Sean Great vids. U do good work. Jus curious, you got married there & you are going on vacation back there. What is the draw for your visits there so far from home?
Aloha Local Boy!! Mahalo for your kind words! And I like to travel far and see what the world has to offer. Also, I know that when kids come, it's hard to do those kind of adventures so I like to do them while I can. 🤙👍✈️🌎
You guys ever tried Himalayan Kitchen in Ala Moana SC? Was first introduced to them when they were in Shirokiya but that was 4-5 years back. Been meaning to check them out, see if their food quality has changed much
Aloha Harry! I haven't tried the Himalayan Kitchen but I heard good things about them. I'll def check it out the next time around. Thanks for your suggestion. 👍🤙
Hey Bradduh! Thank you for replying. My family and I are coming to Oahu next week. Any suggestions where we can get custom Hawaiian bracelets/necklaces made that’s not too expensive? Appreciate the info!
If a Boxing fan says Floyd Mayweather is the best, doesn't mean that he doesn't think anything of Roy Jones Jr and other boxers. 3 things about Kin Wah, 1) I go there quite often for the past 15 years, 2) The guy I went to High School with works the cashier and still asks for my name each time I come in. Lol and 3) They just opened up for dine in after 2 years. I can't say a place is the best if they don't allow dine in. But I love the food there. 😋
Sorry lived Kāne’ohe my whole life always loved eating Kin Wah but sorry today they are not the same like they used to be 😔 my friend works there not the same cooks she says
Saw the "CRACK SEED LADY TODAY" maybe for you, she added the extra fee's for video recording her. ; ) I told her "I saw you on RU-vid" The guy Sean Kaleponi. "Yeah the guy bring planty of camera's into the store" I got charged $6 + tax
Hahaha.. nah all good. It's only 30 cents more than before. Still a deal and I blame the gas prices which force companies to raise their prices. Glad you went to the Crack Seed store. That lady is there every single day. I don't think she ever takes a day off
We went to Jade dynasty last Thursday to try their dimsum and it was below average. Their siomai had a weird fishy taste that was not appetizing at all. Sorry Sean, we loved most of your recos but I have to disagree with this one. It was a complete let down.
Hey no worries, it’s not on you. I was just sharing my experience. I rewatched your vid again on this and your siomai looked so much better than the ones we had. Ours seemed like they were re-steamed. Literally the orange thing on top of the siomai in your vid was brown when it was served on our end. Maybe its due to the time of day, we came close to last call. Anyways it was a good time on the island otherwise, my husband watched numerous of your vids for reference. Thanks.
You and your wife are one of the top RU-vidrs on my list of “would love to meet”. Y’all are just awesome. Great video again. Sean you have such a great attitude and personality. I am on Kaua’i right now visiting ohana and can’t wait to get home and try some of the places!
Aloha Kristina!!! Mahalo for your kind words!! We try our best and glad you appreciate the videos. If you see us, Def say hi and we can talk:) Enjoy Kauai and all the food will still be here when you get back! Mahalo😋👍🤙
Memories....Lived in Waikiki couple decades ago. I'd walk or sometimes bus to a a coffee place ear Ala Moana several times a week....Then walk to Chinatown for a late breakfast or early lunch...Delicous. Always!
Nothing towards you Sean but I took my family to Jade Dynasty on 01.06.23 only to find out they wouldn't allow us in because we didn't make reservations. When I Google them it never said reservations were required. I took my family to The Daley on 01.08.23 only to find out they were closed but I went the next day and OMG! You were not kidding they truly care about the burgers they WERE AMAZING !!!!
Aloha Charles! That's crazy about Jades Dynasty! We went twice and didn't make any reservations but maybe they changed it recently. I'm aware they don't really post much on social media so the communication might not be that good. Sorry and glad you tried the Daleys!! We really enjoyed their Smash Burgers😋🤙👍 I'm glad you did too
Ooooh I like Jade Dynasty! But never went for dim sum. Your dishes looked great! Awesome crack seed store I never knew about in Kaneohe. I love almond cookies and also the tea cookies that were next to it. And Lagoon Chinese rocks. You need to try their roast pork and char siu combo plate instead. Have fun on your trip to Kenya! My neighbor just went on a safari there! Mahalo for this fun video Sean! 🤙
Aloha Misty! Oh what did you get at Jade Dynasty? I really like everything about that place. I will go again for a 3rd time soon:) and the Almond and Tea cookies is what I get for my co workers They like it better compared to other places they've tried. And gonna try the roast pork and char siu now. I just had 2 other ppl tell me the same thing. And I'm sure your neighbor had a blast in Kenya. It's been on my list for years. Mahalo for always supporting us. 🤙
@@SeanKaleponi I had my son's 2nd birthday dinner there. I remember liking the stir fry green beans, deep fried oysters with garlic, salt and pepper shrimp, and their Chinese fried chicken. 😊
Aloha Kristina! Yes we will eventually do a Q and A . Prob at 20K or sooner. I work for Disney and I do filming stuff on the side for money. The Manapua Man is such a part of our childhood🤙👍😋
Hi Sean...new subscriber and love your content. We are heading to Oahu in summer and need your opinion on dim sum. Jade Dynasty or Fook Lam. You make food look so tasty! LOL
Aloha Alan!! Mahalo for watching and subscribing! You can't go wrong with either Fook Lam or Jade Dynasty but for me, I would choose Jade just because of the easy and free parking at the Mall and the variety they have. Enjoy the local eats here in Summer🤙😋👍
Awesome videos. They make me so hungry! I'm still on the lookout for good wor gau gee min on Oahu. I wish the last place you showed in your video had tasty broth, too. Does anyone know of a Chinese restaurant on Oahu that makes ono wor gau gee min?
I’m from Kona side of Big Island and we no more Manapua truck. I have never been so jealous of anything in my life ! I would go wild for all that ! You so lucky !
THANK YOU AWESOME ONOLICIOUS AS ALWAYS. YOU TWO ARE THE MOST ADORABLE UTUBER. I LOVE THE VIEW FROM THE MOUNTAIN SO BEAUTIFUL. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SHARING THE ONO VIDEO. LOVE YOU BOTH. God Bless
Awwwww Mahalo Paulette. You hVe always been a great supporter of our channel and we appreciate you. I take the Mountain views for granted sometimes and I shouldn't. It is beautiful. 🤙Aloha and God Bless💯
Love your content! Btw a good friend of mine is from Waimea, HI and he also has shellfish allergies. I wonder if it's pretty common among locals on the island 🤔 ... something to do with vaccinations? (Just my curious speculation)
Aloha Jeff! Mahalo for watching!:) oh I'm not sure what it has to do with when it comes to allergies, I'm the only one out of my Mom and Dad's side to have them. But so much other delicious foods to eat here:)
Sean, on target again. My wife was just asking if I found any Crack seed stores on Oahu... Hahaha!!! I should've known. Thanks again! Have a great time in Kenya! See you when you get back, make lots of Kenya videos...
Aloha Charles! Mahalo for always supporting this channel and my IG. And oh, we got Crack Seed stores all over the island!! Everywhere. Your wife will be happy. And yes, gonna make some Kenya videos. Appreciate you💯🤙👍
Aloha Raider! There's street parking with meters and you can park in a cpl buildings near by. And thanks for sharing your story with the Manapua Man!:) 💯👍😋🤙
