I had the same curiosity as you and bought both the Sanda and Skmei G-Shock homages, both at around £7.50 per watch. As a G-Shock collector, my take on these watches is they're a great watch at a fantastic price - provided you don't expect G-Shock quality and aren't concerned by not having a couple of functions. I'd also add that I find the straps are more comfortable to wear.
@@RandoRaf Yep, they're a lot of watch for the money and you're right, they're great beaters. Interesting that we'd use them as beaters to save damaging a G-Shock though, I mean, G-Shocks are designed to take the beating 😂
What is the most important thing for at watch other than the looks? That it is accurate! And that's the biggest difference here, because the CASIO is very accurate while the SKMEI and SANDA will be 30-40 secs off each month which is a big deal breaker for anyone who appreciate a nice watch.
I see these for sale in Thailand all the time. I purchased a Sanda 6014 for a beat around watch. We'll done video. The SKMEI 1628 looks better of the 2 in the video with better features.
I've a 1628 SKMEI and pretty happy with it. Even though it only made me want to get the real thing (which I got in GW-B5600), but for the price it's excellent. I'd say 90% of the real thing plus minor module annoyances like not being able to scroll up or down when setting timer and alarms. As mentioned it does wear more comfortably than the G as the strap is softer. It's also much brighter and louder. I don't expect the SKMEI to be as tough as a G. and it's all dinged and scratched already, but for the 6$ it's a great beater.
I got the all metal skmei for christmas. The volume seemed low so i put in a new battery which helped until i pressed the back on. Same low volume, so, ya, just like a g shock 😂
It’s simple Casio knows that they can cultivate multiple fanboys they saw you guys coming. So why not just tell you that it’s tough and then make about 6000 different renditions of it. sounds like a good plan to make money to me.
Do you remember the type numbers of the clone watches? Is that the 1628 skmei? I've seen people claim the module is compatible.. Maybe the internals would be aswell?
Chinese G-Shock? You need to know that a G-Shock is not just another Casio watch. Its built differently. With required higher standards and in a different area of the factory. Its not just another $20.00 watch.
