Quinoa (keen-waa) is a grain type carbohydrate, its pretty decent when cooked. its used in some Mediterranean and middle eastern foods. its also served cold with vegetables. it has been popular to substitute grains for dried quinoa in snack bars, it doesn't change the taste, but its so small it sticks in between the teeth.

In the Netherlands (a very western country, mind you) taking laptops etc with you to a café or a coffee place is frowned upon. Perhaps there's the cultural influence from Indonesia.
