It was an honest mistake and he hadn’t known that the medication he had Brent Laing for his heart for years was suddenly placed on the prohibited substances list. He cheated his way up 1st place, but even worse he kept having a go at the other swimmer many times when the other guy was so calm. Being Chinese myself, I believe the ban is needed. Even though there was no prove that he ever cheated, his action and hostility towards the testers are unwarranted. There are smarter ways to deal with the "fail to show accreditation" problem than smashing blood samples. The culture of "I can do whatever I want because I am rich and famous" must stop.

testing for doping requires a comparison with a blood sample in the off-season. Otherwise, there's no baseline reading and therefore there's no proof of doping (enhanced blood vs original blood)

The fact that a construction worker, a former nurse without even a valid certificate and only one trained personnel tried to do the test which is very important to any athletes for Sun is just unacceptable. This was not the right procedure to collect any sample. And those people also signed a declaration that they did not know that they were supposed to help and did not receive any proper training. Now you tell me that Sun will be banned for 8 years for refusing to give his sample to these suspended strangers. Shame on WADA and CAS.

This ban has been revoked by the swiss court after his appeal. There is no strong evidence just accusations. The people who came to test him had no proper documents, and it seemed to justify his actions.

SUN Yang did NOT cheat this is a fact, it is the incompetence of the testing authorities who did not provide any credentials when collecting blood samples. This guy is innocent and he is very unlucky. This is also pointed out by Sports integrity initiative where they pointed out that SUN was unfairly treated and what he did was justified. Also, he took a stimulant for chest pains as he was suffering from medical issues. However, the substance he took is suddenly banned with no notice and only for 1 year. “to clarify, under the current list, Trimetazidine is currently prohibited in-competition only until the end of 2014. For the 2015 List, you will see it has moved (to) section S.4.5.” Essentially, trimetazidine has been reclassified and downgraded. As of January 1, it will not be on the banned stimulant list. And it is not performance enhancing. Both the FINA and WADA accepted the explanation by Sun Yang that he didn’t receive the updates from WADA timely about the drug that he had been using for a long time for his heart problem, the drug he took was added into the list in Jan 2014, before that time, it was totally legal. Pathetic Haters here will just sprout lies about SUN, but he never cheated nor doped, this is a certified FACT.
1. The drug he took for his "heart condition" was not the one most doctors recommend for said heart condition, and the recommended treatment is a legal, approved drug. It just doesn't make endurance swimmers go faster. 2. Sun Yang could have applied for a retrospective medical exemption for the drug he had used, but that would have required investigation of his supposed heart condition. He elected not to. 3. "Heart conditions requiring medication" is an excuse we have seen other athletes use to cheat. A certain russion female tennis player comes to mind. 4. As soon as he stopped taking this go fast drug, not the best drug, for the condition he does not have? His times plummetted. He is a cheat. Glad to see him finished.

He didn’t miss the test, don’t spread false information. Random people with no credentials, authorization or license came into his house isn’t he middle of the night and took his blood samples and filmed him urinating. He found it suspicious and didn’t allow them to take his blood samples away.
The medals weren’t dirty. He got tested positive one time for a drug that he had been using for years to help his heart condition. It was suddenly added to the list of prohibited substances without him knowing and it was an honest mistake. He got a 3 month ban. However, he tested negative before and after every Olympic race and hence the medals were all clean.
He and his country should be humiliated publicly by being stripped of their medals. All previous medals. That’s the only way to teach these people and their countries a lesson…
Sun Yang is basically a long distance swimmer. The longer the distance, the better he becomes. Especially at 800 meter and 1500 meter. At 200 meter other swimmers have of a chance of beating him. Sun Yang has a mechanical advantage over other swimmers. For every 2 strokes he rotate, his competitors must rotate 3 strokes to cover the same distance. This give him a decisive advantage over his competitors. And this is how he wins his races. This advantage has nothing to do with taking drugs. ✌

The blood that was initially collected (and subsequently destroyed) was not collected with proper authorisation and thus was not properly a "sample" … as a result, the sample collection session initiated by IDTM on September, 4, 2018, is invalid and void. No FINA DC rule violations can result therefrom.
lol, in a scheduled test, with a chief administrator with full credential, that IS a sample. You can argue since the people who administrated the test is not certified professional, and therefore the sample is tinted. But that is a sample and you cannot destroy the sample. Same as any court. If the court demanded you to take a blood test, a construction worker come to your place and take the blood test, as long as that person is acting on behalf of the court with a warrant, that blood test is valid, however, you can argue since that person is not fully accredited, the sample can be tinted. But you cannot challenge the person who take the test coming with a search warrant and argue the authority of such warrant. If you ask me, Sun is stupid, if he is not cheating, then the test would be clean, and even if he is taking prohibited/banned drug, the only thing he need to do to negate this drug test is to claim the person who administrate it is unqualified and therefore the result would be tinted after the test has been processed, he would have got off even if he taken banned substance. He had to choose to destroy the sample. That is probably the worse outcome coming from that test.

She is also a person with a conflict of interest with SUN as previously she had an altercation with SUN a year before, this is a severe violation of code set by the anti doping agency. Destroying of the samples is justified as blood samples contain your biometrics data and potential malfeasance of law, this is already beyond the bounds of just simply negating the blood test at a later date, because blood contains sensitive personal data, and an "administrator" without proper credentials have no guarantees to abide by the code of conduct and ethics set by the organization because no one knows if she is currently lawfully employed and fully certified, nobody know what will she do with the blood, this also raised a further violation of privacy. Many sports analysist also pointed out the bias against SUN and that he is innocent.

He has already appealed in June before Tokyo Olympic (Which is ALREADY underway in case you haven't notice) and LOST said appeal and have and now serving a 4 years ban. Also, read the WADA rules book, the correct procedure is you let the officer draw your blood even if you doubt his/her credential that is because that IS a scheduled drug test and the chief officer identity is authenticated, only the people who is drawing his blood were in doubt, and Sun have the right to lodge a complaint afterward and they, the WADA, will destroy the sample themselves if they had found in favor of Sun, what Sun does not have the right to is to destroy the sample himself, and that is why he is serving a 4 years ban. Not because of he dope or not, because we wouldn't know if he had doped, and that's because he destroyed the sample ILLEGALLY. Again, that appeal have already been heard and judged last month (I am talking about the Appeal, not the original case), I don't know why you bring this up now.
