Thanks guys for your absolutely amazing support during our quarantine in China! 💕 Here is a sneak peak to our life during the 14 days of quarantine. 😅 I’m curious to know how many of you are in China or trying to come back to China?
I'm in Beijing. When you enter the city, search for the wechat mini program: Beijing Health Kit (in English). Otherwise, scan the code specifically for foreigners. I don't think you have to be quarantined in Beijing once you have been quarantined for 14 days in China. Anyway, there are some places that you cannot enter without the Beijing Health Kit (green code which proves you have been in Beijing for 14 days). I went to Tianjin to travel and upon returning to Beijing, I found out that my code turned grey which gave me a lot of grief, although if you explain to the authorities and guards, they might let you pass. Otherwise, you gotta wait out the 14 days for your code to turn green. Unsaid rule is: they don't want foreigners running around.
Thanks for sharing! I also had a grey code after coming back from Shanghai although it should be green. I am trying to figure out how to get it back to green. 😓
I have been living in Beijing 9 years and I have my apartment there and I'm paying rent there at the moment. I hope I can go back soon. USA is getting cases faster everyday.
by rules, all of quarantine hotel MUST turn off A/C to prevent potential transmission via air. but the vent systems do send fresh air in. so it is one way operation.
14-days-quarantine was an life experience, it might be a hard time to pass. But it is also grateful for you both back to normal life after that. Good video to share your such distinct experience. Thanks!
Nice couple, in summer you both can go and live in Finland, while in winter you both can live in China, somewhere in the southern part, much better. What a great life !
Once the borders open we would love to do this 👌 this past year we did the opposite though. In winter lived in Finland and now this summer we will live in hot Beijing 😅
Hi Kaisa. Could you make a video on what you have studied in university and how you ended up working in China and what kind of work you are doing there. Also in general what kind of work opportunities there are for foreigners in China? :)
Hi Suvi, thanks for your great suggestion! I think this would be a good topic for a video. However, I could not go into detail what I do for a living now since I don’t want to talk about my work in my channel. But I could easily talk about my studies and internships in China, and maybe something general about work opportunities for foreigners in China.
If you are from English speaking country, that say, if you don't even have other specialty, Teaching English is an option in China, as a transition period, you will find what's the best opportunity for you , there is a lot of dreams that you can let it come true.
北京已经2个月没有本地的新增病例了,生活现在基本恢复正常了。希望你们安全度过隔离期,保持好心情,加油! There have been no new local cases in Beijing for two months, and life is now basically back to normal. I hope you get through the isolation period safely, keep a good mood, come on!
You made a good decision. Better to head to China, do the quarantine and get back to a normal life with everything opening up than to waste time in Finland and wait for more bad news and who knows when things will be back to normal. Well done 👍👍👍
I hope that this was the right choice! 😊 Actually, I had no choice, my work and life is in Beijing so I had to get back. Anyways, I feel extremely happy to be back! 🤩
Who said Chinese men can’t wear green hat? Green is basic color used in PLA army. Just a man is called greenback turtle if got cheated by his wife, but this is not equal to a guy puts on a actual green hat.
Kaisa when you said you're running out of light , I thought you meant LIKE , I clicked Like right away 😂😂😂 Great content as always 👍👍 Cheers from 🇨🇦 Take care 🙏✌️
You're not lucky because when visitors entered China on March they got quanrantined at home, but some didn't follow rules and escaped from home. then Chinese government said everyone must get quanratined at hotel, but it's free food, free hotel and free test and treatment. after millions of people flooding into China, there's no enough hotels for too many people, then Chinese government said food and hotel is not free anymore, and international flights got limited like 'one week-one country-one airline' policy. now You're still lucky because many people even Chinese nationals in overseas can't fly back because ticket is too expensive now. 11 million Wuhan people got quarantined more than 70 days, 1.3 billion Chinese got grounded at home for 1 month, China has done more than 20 million tests and carry on most strict quarantine policy but there's still some cases infected, bad news is that a city in Jilin province got locked down again. but you will be free and safe in Shanghai after 14 days.
I feel lucky to get back to China since many people, including most foreigners, cannot come back to China. However, I think everyone around the world have gone through tough times this spring. The pandemic has left a mark everywhere 😔
Yet it all started from there and now it infected whole world and millions of dead because incorrect information about total amounts of infections and other crucial info not told to rest of the world just because goverment is trying to keep the "shiny and perfect" image on stand. Shame.
Hi Kaisa. Nice to see your video. Yeah i can understand about the 14 days think. I hope you n your hubby are well. You soon will be back to normal. Stay safe and looking forward to the next one.
@@kaisaa4318 thanks the UK not back to normal yet. They only slowly lifting the lockdown in baby steps. But it‘s better than nothing i guess. Please give us an update on your next video‘s and i cannot wait. Takecare
with hubby together, kalsa is all lighted up and happy. guess two weeks of quarantine is a brink of eyes...:). bwt, i am chinese and i wear green bandanas and my wife loves me.
Yeah, but in these times, which hotel owners would really want quarantine business from foreign arrivals? And it's not like they can set their own prices. Even hotel staff would be hard to employ!
You do know why they need to quarantine in China specially to fly from overseas because they have put a great sacrifice to contain the first wave they don’t want any other Virus import from outside U2 did a great job for understanding
have you done research about quarantine policy in Beijing? Because I've heard people can't travel between cities at the moment, or need to do14 days quarantine for anyone who is traveling between cities
@Joe Tang is right, there is no requirement for quarantine if you travel between cities in China. Only when you enter China from abroad you have to quarantine for 14 days.
Man... happy to see McDonald... must be really bad in China. I’d rather eat like Shanghai dumplings or something like that from the Bund... LOL but quarantine food is probably like high school cafeteria food which is yucky!
Thank you so much for this video ☀️! I got accepted into my dream school in Suzhou and trying to plan my move to land in Shanghai in August. Nothing is going according to plans and I cannot find answers anywhere about anything 😢. So this really helped! Also, which app is it that the airline recommended? I tried downloading wechat and alipay but could not do the health check to get the green health code.
Congratulations! 😊 I hope you can make your dream come true! I think the airline company asked us to download the Health Kit under WeChat. In Shanghai they will require to use the health code under Alipay.
China is the only country in the world that has eliminated the Covid-19 virus. You are so lucky to be in China, I was last in China to visit my ailing father in 2019. Hopefully we'll be back in China for fall 2021, I miss China a lot.
I think it was not a market price but a government subsidised price. However, I would not describe it luxurious, it was quite worn-down and very dirty. I guess back in the days it might have been a luxury hotel.
@@kaisaa4318 300rmb equals 45 usd with three meals...omg...do you know the regular price before the COVID19 in shanghai? however, it depends on the location, anyway, this price so cheap.
I like my french fries to be kind of crunchy (but not too crunchy) on the outside, and soft on the inside (but not too soft).......... OMG, I just realized that I am picky.
The reason that you are not allowed using the AC is the AC may cause the virus spread around and the virus may hide in the AC which will infect the people who are living this room after you move out
300 for this room seems very cheap in shanghai, I don’t think it’s market price? I have no idea . And 50 RMB for 3 meal is also quite cheap. Government subsidies or?
I'm not sure, I had no medical issues in the quarantine. But the staff in the hotel comprised of many doctors so I would assume they could be of assistance if you needed.
An idea came up, not sure if u and hubby have thought about it. Since he is a coach, why not do video on fitness training on RU-vid and equivalent video channel in China? If u check out some of the successful youtuber in the US, fitness training can draw large following (in millions). That could mean big business.
The story behind “ green hat” is a women who called Jinlian Pan 潘金蓮 always cheats on her husband Dalang Wu 武大郎. And Pan lets Wu to wear green hat when he goes out to sell stuffs. So her lover can get the message from the green hat that she’s available today.
Just found your channel and subscribed. You two make a cute couple. i dearly miss my hometown beijing. Cant wait to see more of your normal life when you are out of quarantine and back to beijing.
I work in the international relations field. I studied economics at Aalto University School of Business and law at the University of Helsinki. I also did three exchange semesters, one in Japan at the International University of Japan, then two in China, one at Beijing Foreign Studies University and one at Renmin University of China. I studied quite a bit 😅
keep up the good spirit. Even though I am not forced to quarantine at home in HK, working from home can be tough physically and mentally. Have a safe trip back to Beijing. Sad that I have to cancel my planned vacation to Beijing with my son in June. But hope the travel bubble between HK and China can be established soon.
Enjoyed many videos of yours. Big thumbs up for being cool facing challenges and excitement as well! I am in the States and have no plan to go to China for now. Look forward to after quarantine and in Beijing!
Not sure if you ever watched another youtuber called Yuqi in Finland. She's a Chinese living in Finland and sharing her life especially with her son and family there. Very lovely videos, highly recommended. : )
Hello Kaisa , what kind of visa you have in order to come back , because the restriction is still not lifted . And my 9Y son is Italian he is still in Italy , we are trying to get him back .thats why I am asking this specific point .
Hi Catrina Li, I’m sorry to hear about your situation and I’m afraid my situation is not comparable to your son’s situation. 😔 I hope the Chinese government would allow family members return to China as soon as possible.
Oh that’s an interesting piece of information. Let’s see what happens. I would assume they keep the quarantine still quite long until they open the borders and even after that, since when they open the borders there’s a risk that second wave hits if there wasn’t any quarantine.
@@kaisaa4318 apparently the second wave could pretty much hit anywhere during the autumn or winter...let's just hope that people will be sensible enough not to do anything dumb. I'm sure China (especially Wuhan) wouldn't want deal with all this crap again.
for food, you have so many options, pls pls count your blessings, most places dont have any option, you eat what they provide to you! this is global pandemic
That was a menu that they loosely followed. If you look carefully, there are dates above each meal set, so they served those meals on those days. We could not choose the food from the menu, they served what was marked for each day.
@@kaisaa4318 $7 per day. It is dirty cheap. I don't think they can customize menu for everyone, since everyone has different taste. Just consider it as cafeteria at school.
When I came to Beijing from Hubei on April 4, I was also quarantined for two weeks. Before I came here, I had been quarantined for nearly two and a half months. It's a bad year for Hubei people
The first announcement by the Chinese MFA was released in March. For updated information you have to search yourself. Here is the link to the first announcement in March: www.fmprc.gov.cn/mfa_eng/wjbxw/t1761867.shtml
4 of my Finnish colleges are traveling to Shanghai next week and they are worried about the quarantine condition in the hotel. Could you please tell if there's anyone who speaks English in the hotel that you were staying? Did you receive instruction in English for example what happen if you get sick during the quarantine, whether there is doctor available in the hotel? Thanks in advance.
Hi WS, thanks, we just recently opened a bilibili account called 凯夏和安笔。We will upload our videos there in the future as well. Let’s see what the response from the Chinese audience will be. 😁
The Green hat thing is fine( not saying cheating is okay or anything), I mean it is not that big of a deal if you guys aren't in China. I think people asked you because you can speak Chinese which one would assume that you'd know some of the funny Chinese culture ( or perhaps your husband would explain to you). So don't take it to heart, I don't think anyone who asked are in any way thinking that you cheats on your husband or anything, I think that they are most likely just thinking that it is funny & curious about why. As long as you don't feel offended, or take it to the heart, and no disrespect to the other's cultural stuff. They could be pretty fun. Or fun to encounter.
@@kaisaa4318 👌. Peoples are curious ( after all we are coming from different background and culture), and when you can speak the language or even became a 洋媳妇, some may assume that you'd know ( & such mindset is considerably normal, I'd say). And getting to know more is not a bad thing, it may actually help you build a even better relationship with your hubby. 祝你们俩 幸福快乐。
Some people want to order home services? OMG, it is quarantining not vacation, even if you live in a luxury hotel. But food supplied by government is quite healthy and neutral. It is better than some expected before.
Not many women are as brave as you in appearing online or public without make up. Regardless, u still look great. I guess it’s the advantage of not using heavy make up as compared to those who do.
Hi Kaisa, do you need to apply for a new visa to get back to China? I am asking I need to move back to China for work but my 1-year old daughter holds US passport so we are still trying to find a way to move back together.
Hi, unfortunately I cannot give any visa tips since my situation differs completely from your daughter’s. I work in China, but your daughter is still a child and probably has a completely different visa. Please check with your local Embassy about the current visa rules.
