The very interesting thing to me is the fact that before CC, people said the W needed to sell more tickets in order for salaries to go up -- and I don't remember any W players being receptive. They wanted more pay without selling tickets. Even if sales went down even further, they wanted more salary. Now we have a ticket-seller that could potentially boost everyone's salary and the W players don't care. They are being very consistent: They are saying "take your free market stuff and stick it somewhere". It's very fascinating to me and speaks to something that is unusual.

They keep talking about skill. “She’s not experienced, she didn’t go to the training camps, basketball is evolving into a global sport and other countries are getting better, she’s not better than anyone on the roster” all of that is saying the same thing over and over. By merit, she doesn’t deserve it. But this is a man’s world, and men don’t always care about merit. In fact, men care about money more than anything else (by far). CC is a certified money maker. A marketing gift. If the one thing you have pained over for the last almost 30 years is respect and attention and investment for women’s sports, if that’s the problem, CC is the solution. “Everyone watches women’s sports”, right because of CC. On Steven A’s podcast, Andraya said “winning gold is the best marketing tool!” If that were the case, we wouldn’t be having this conversation.
