Our 99lb Male chinook is almost 3. He has zero wanderlust. He won’t leave the front door patio area when door opens. Never leaves the gate if it opens in back. Ours is all about being a good boy. He has endless energy, loves our granddaughters & is the best guard dog, he puts one ear up to listen. We have a huge yard & a doggie door for him all day until bedtime. He runs and plays all day but needs his ball time twice a day. He will only use 1 ball. His ball. He brings it back inside w/him. We couldn’t be happier with this breed. Minus the shedding. Woah!

We had Steve, my wife if hard of hearing. Steve tough himself to be a hear dog. Pot of boiling water was left on the stove, Steve started to bark and went and found my wife. He was the best dog that we have ever had.

I found skinny dog as a 1 1/2kg stray. 7 yrs later he is a 28 kg trusted guardian. Local kids come to play with him, & he keeps the house snake & iguana free. All of our neighbours say “Everyone wishes they had their own skinny dog”. Loves his home & never wants to leave, he faithfully waits by the gate until we return. He is the best dog I have ever owned, & the whole family loves him to death

Not accurate information. I’ve had a Chinook for 7 years. Extremely friendly with children. Extremely adaptable. Highly trainable but you must have experience working with dogs because of their intelligence. Easy to have off leash and outdoors. Eager to please. My pup was from a litter of 10 puppies. She is 65 lbs and her father was 90lbs. I’m not sure why it has a weight range so low here.

We just found out ( after 9 years) that our Hercules is a full breed Chinook. We were told, he was a German shepherd/lab mix. We got Hercules when he was 1 years old. We are now hoping to see if we can train him to pull a light sled. He loves the snow. So excited to find out more about chinook dogs. Its totally our Hercules behavior, and looks. Thank you for sharing.
