I noticed too, but I can understand. This was one of the last songs in the set, and every time I sing this, I blow my voice out in that part... he was already worn out. He was probably worried he'd cause some damage.
i think it's ok if a band sounds different live or if the singer approaches the vocals in another way. the live experience is exactly that, live and how the musicians feel at that moment. this is where the magic happens. some bands sink and some sore like mustard but in the end it's about enjoying what you do and each other but then again what do i know, i couldn't even keep a job as a janitor, lol.
they pry did a actual show the night before this so his voice is strained...or theres a monitor problem...all the times ive seen them live hes done great...this is the only show ive seen that he doesnt sound too good, but still is holding it together
the songs they played in this concert, like the way he sings them here, it isnt the same as in the recorded versions if youve heard any of them and i doubt they would rerecord 2 albums just for this concert cause incase you didnt know recording takes a lot of work it could take hours just for one song so it really doesnt make sense to say hes lip singing just saying
@TheEthanAndKyleShow You know. I couldn't agree more. Because some of those notes are INSANELY hard to hit. I sing tenor in my choir, and make fun of some girls because I can sing higher than them. and I have trouble with some of his notes. and I have proof. I did a cover of Intensity in Ten Cities.
@TheEthanAndKyleShow well I'm a singer and I can sing few Chiodos songs. But eh, everybody has to understand: its not that Craig voice is computered in studio. Its just that when singers record their song they rarely sing it in only one shot. so they can rest enough to reach HIGH notes whenever theyre ready, and so they sound perfect every time. In a LIVE show, well haha its SOOO not possible. so we have to take it how it comes. and If your voice is not warmed up enough, thats gonna be hard.
@TheEthanAndKyleShow Falsetto is actually easier than using chest voice. and there's no falsetto in that song... and it kinda disapoints me that the original vocal track is playing at 6:00 but Craig is stille an amazing singer
yea i know but he doesnt loose that fast compared to alot of other shows theyve played i mean yea i knew he sang plenty of other songs before this but still
i mean does anybody recognize that craigs voice is just about totally blown out at this part of the show??? i mean im not baggin but he barely hit the illumination note in teeth the size, totally in love with the band but i just happened to recognize this
@Bobbey3 oh deffinately. I agree with that 100% xD i used to be the lead vocalist in a band, and even just trying to get by a practice without warming up was hell xD but ive been lately singing a lot of broadway (well, trying, lol) and i need a hugeeee warm up to be able to hit some of those notes. so on craigs part, it's pretty fly that he can sing and hit all the notes he can.
Why is everyone hating? Maybe caz one person said he sucked so another person said that so everyone just followed?? Come one, it sounds almost just like the actual recorded song, one part, I forgot which, did kinda suck but just that ONE part
@corrolations yeah dude, it's hard as hell hitting most the notes he does. and people argue that in recordings he does like triple takes to hit them. Well, yeah? Obviously? What recording artist doesn't take at LEAST 3 or 4 takes to get it dead-on? Craig is an amazing vocalist. 'nough said. And anyone who can hit the higher notes like he can, probably is too.
okay well would you rather re-record this bit or fail miserably during the set? they do it to stay safe and i do doubt they re record. as you said, re recording is a lot of work. they probably just took the vocals track and added a little effect thingy to it
overall it was pretty good. but on some parts it was pretty bad. but this is the 8th song so i completely understand i couldn't keep my voice for that long so props to him. the begining was good tho.
@timmunn1 I could sing a 5 song set just fine, but it's harder to play heavier stuff as in hardcore music, or screamo. There aren't very many people to who could play more than a 5 song set. Not to mention, our songs are a good 5-6 minutes long, each. But I get what you're saying. There is also a right way to scream. Overall though, Craig is one of the best out there, whether you disagree or not. Craig Owens maybe uses it in recordings, but in this video he has distortion on the mic. That's all.
@ANeonGenesis Even though you named my 2 of my favourite artists of all time (A.G. and Claudio) I disagree, I don't think he sounds bad here. There's a lot of flat notes if you hear Anthony live. It could also just be a bad day, or the fact that it's late in the set.
@Bobbey3 i don't know how a high a voice you have (lol im only joking) but for me, falsetto is VERY difficult. and although falsetto is barely used in this song, it still is. and even so, craigs voice is not high when hes talking. its not necessarily deep, but still, for a guy with a normal voice to be able to hit the notes that craig can, is in my opinion, amazing vocal ability.
@timmunn1 Auto Tune, no. Craig Owens does not use auto tune. And this of it. This is like a 12 song set. I want to see you do a 12 song set. If you're going to make fun of a musician, you better be a musician. I myself could never play a twelve song set, none the less a 5 song set. Especially being in a heavier band. Your voice eventually dies out from all of the effort. Use correct grammar by the way. It's not "he absolutely does use auto tuner..." it's, He absolutely does use auto tune.*
@timmunn1 so youre telling me you can sing 100 percent perfect 100 percent of the time? bullshit. fallseto is amazingly difficult. and craig is amazing at it. he doesnt need a compter to hit them, but doing show after show takes a toll on your voice.
no. let's be realistic first off, he doesn't use effect petals for vocals.. and even if he did it wasn't a wah second of all there aren't even any petals behind him, so don't make up an excuse because it's dissapointing. and third, it's obvious from evidence on how he's singing in this show that there's no way he could've reached these notes perfectly - he turned around so the audience wouldn't see his lypsincing. don't get my wrong, i love chiodos, but just admit it: he's lipsyncing.
mmm i'm not too sure about this: we can easily see that he just avoid the highest notes, and sometimes try to reach some but he can't, . it's not a case of feeling the obligation of yelling harder. anyway those songs are too dificult to remake absolutely as on the record.... and when you have a bunch of songs to sing, you save your (throat power), you dont give it all on only 1 song...thats what i think... Craig has an amazing voice!
@timmunn1 Oh haha. Well, I just joined this band, that's why. Listen to our stuff though bro! It's not too bad, the recording quality just sucked. myspace(dot)com/sweetsmellofrain
The signing was flat in this performance, and if I had the gear to do a cover and put it up, I would be pleased to show Craig how to sing his own song...HA...
@ANeonGenesis My favorite band is Coheed and Cambria (without a shadow of a doubt) and I can honestly say that Claudio is an amazing singer BUT does not belt it out for the entire song, as is Craig Owens' technique. Through all that, I've heard Claudio Sanchez fuck way up QUITE a bit, live AND on videos. Jag relies on a different part of his voice than Craig. (P.S. Coheed and Cambria tuned down because Claudio can't sing as high as he used to. Your point is mute, dude.)
yeaahthat sucks. as a amateur singer myself, i know that those note are fuckin hard to reach, and if youre not warmed enough it just scrap your throat :S but he's good!
Out of tune, in tune.. Who cares. Nothing was ever in tune. It was made by people who thought it should be like this or that way. Ignorant people that thought like they owned the world. Chiodos is amazing, Craig is amazing. Any one who sing is amazing, it takes guts.
K he could be but also that voice was totally computerized. But I would probably like to see him try and sing it rather then put the mic down completely...
