While the cracking sound is no cause for alarm, there’s also an argument to be made that it’s doing no real good either in many cases; the air bubble and the pop will be back 48hrs later.

I used to be skeptical of chiropractors. Then one day my lower back began to hurt really bad. Tail bone area. I put it off but it just wouldn't improve. Weeks later I went to my first chiropractor appointment. I walked out pain free. What a relief. And the pain didn't return. I was a believer after that
@VV-pr1fk
@VV-pr1fk 2 года назад
The pop that is a gas bubble that enters the joint capsule can reoccur again as soon as 20-30 minutes after manipulation. Intrinsic endorphins coincide with joint manipulation. Sensory input from the joint's rapid stretch gets to the brain faster than "C-fiber" pain signals which can help temporarily decrease pain intensity. Re-establishing ROM in a "stuck joint" takes away pressure and attention from the area of concern. However, it is initially common to feel a day of temporary soreness if you haven't been adjusted in awhile or ever. Muscles that can move again in a more natural way can more efficiently process soft tissue inflammation. There's a lot of stuff that goes on with chiropractic adjustments.
@thecorrelationsensationpod8013
I went to one for several months. After which, all my posture issues and mobility felt far propper than i could remember. I understand the skeptical pov, but that statement is from ignorance.

Well, if it's just like cracking your knuckles, it stands to reason then that chiropractic manipulation offers rather temporary relief. Just as knuckles "need" cracking again a day (or hours) later, ditto for your spine. So... why go to a chiropractor and pay huge sums for what is really fleeting relief?

Think of it like being bloated, you're stomach feels full and uncomfortable. The same with your joints, the air pockets put pressure on everything around it
@jmxc8278
@jmxc8278 2 года назад
It doesn't actually matter. It only occurs due to the synovial fluid surrounding the joint and the increase then decrease of pressures created from the force applied. An adjustment can occur with or without the sound (cavitation) as this is only a by-product created from the trust (increase then decrease of pressure within the joint). The whole point in an adjustment is to apply motion and decreases potential restriction within a joint. The reason it also produces a short term feeling of relief is from the physiological mechanism behind it creating an analgesic affect.

Usually people who have never been to a chiropractor or it’s been awhile. Your body gets use to being in the “wrong” position. So when you correct it with an adjustment, even ever so slightly, your body tried to put it back how it was. Sometimes that’s why there can be some pain/soreness in the following days. That’s why they do more than one treatment, usually 5 or 6. 1 per week. The problem is people think they are trying to just get your money because people think you need one adjustment and then everything should be fine. When that isn’t the case, especially if you have been in a wreck or injured yourself.

Why does it seem that all chiropractic adjustments the same for every patient? Is the stance that chiropractic adjustments are "one size fits all" or are their chiropractors that do individualized adjustments? Not saying you are guilty of this, but it seems like social media chiropractors only care about getting the "pop" with their patented "insert fancy name of movement or device" and using attractive models in their videos.

@jacklewis100 Месяц назад
It's simply not correct to say "it's speed not force"; if you have a basic understanding of physics you'd understand how they are directly related and proportional in an adjustment. What you, most importantly, failed to explain is why there might be any actual, medical theraputic benefit from an 'adjustment' beyond the shock, the showmanship, the immediate endorphins and the pain nerve excitement (from trauma) which temporarily might relieve pain. The reason you didn't explain it is that beyond the aforementioned, there is no volume of evidence to support any real medical or scientific benefit from adjustments. Popping synovial fluid might be fun and dramatic but it provides no real benefit - 5 days later there's no improved range of motion, unless other methods have been used and/or the patient has followed up with exercises. The danger aside (strokes, paralysis, mental trauma..), any benefit that a chiropractor might provide is from the use of interdisciplines, borrowed from massage therapy, ostepathic, placebo, bedside charm, giving empathy/attention etc. Worst of all, these people call themselves "Doctor". Anyway, despite the title, this video explaing nothing. Now, of course, there will be those who will comment "I love my chiropractor... they cured my x....". See above...
