They're not overtly blackmailing by saying "Pay us X amount and we won't report you to immigration under s.351 immigration Act 2009" This MP faces serious convictions if she doesn't pay the settlement through the MBIE. Her lawyers will add to the terms of settlements that she, without admission of guilt will pay X amount under s.123(1)(c)(i) of the employment relations act 2000. Swarbrick is lying as per usual and understands the police probably aren't looking into it now.
