I agree. I never understood why people would fix the soul on an old pair of shoes but now I understand there could be several reasons. One is that the old shoe is already broken in which could’ve taken weeks to months to do so and so it fits you like a glove . Also. it might actually be cheaper to resole the shoe instead of buying a new pair Or lastly, the shoe might have sentimental value or they might not make that style of shoe anymore. Or maybe you like the concept of recycling.

Bedo's Leatherworks LLC Yes but they blew me off once when I asked about resoling a pair of shoes. They asked for pics which I sent and they never responded. Maybe they are too busy? In any event, I sent the shoes to you after discovering your channel as you responded immediately! Waiting patiently to see what magic you do with them!

Why would anyone leave nasty comments here? This channel displays honesty, professionalism and such a hard working vibe. In defence of Mr. Steve; he is doing two things in one: repairing shoes and making videos. It is impossible to keep track of every single aspect right to the very tiny detail. You can try, but it does not happen overnight! I am not even in the Americas, but thinking about having my shoes repaired here, in the distant future, brings me a feeling of peace which is impossible to experience in my home country:)

It's a nice treat to have Steve give every shoe the custom treatment and the extra mile included as a bonus. Especially; in a more and more cookie cutter take it or leave it world: Steve gives you the option to keep it and enjoy it more. It's fun when your RU-vid comments can be seen as easy fodder for your increasing popularity which seems to have taken on a life of its own.

I like your concern...those were very well worn shoes that were repaired...you can tell the owner is not going to sell. Steve is a professional with more than 25 years experience. He had brands made...you pay for his expertise.

For those who always fret about Steves hands shaking, might be worth considering the fact he's been working like that without mishap for many years. If he was suddenly to walk in one morning with no shake, he'd probs balls it up as he'd be missing it lol.(probably not but you get what i mean!) i simply think we notice it more as we're all sat here mesmerized at the magic, but the magic is literally done with just his hands and a shoe in the shot, so it's kinda hard NOT to focus on it. Love your work Steve. I regularly have your vids playing in the background while i work. As i work at home, you make pretty good company :-)

Don’t take the thumbs down personally. Some people have videos pop up in their auto play feed that they genuinely have no interest in. The thumbs down is how they tell RU-vid not to add that type of video to their feed. Keep up the good work.

The lighting is fine. It’s the new camera. Turn off auto exposure, and manually set the exposure for each setup.

Steve, you are not the only one to get thumbs down. I do not recall watching a video where there was no thumbs down. I think the people that give videos thumbs down are cowards. They know that they can hide from the internet and be cowards. They are just jealous that they can not do the work that you do. Don't let the haters get under your skin. Keep doing what you do. I have not seen any of your videos that I have not liked the outcome. Everyone's tastes are different but the main thing is you put you heart and sole{no pun intended} into every single project you do. That is more then evident watching you and your craft.

Fabulous! I love watching you work- it´s so calming and very educational. I do some home-cobbling on a very makeshift level (mainly because there´s no decent cobbler around at all and I prefer to botch up my own jobs instead of paying someone to do it for me)... learned a bit from spending many a lunch break at the workshop of a dear friend, an old Greek cobbler who long went back home, watching him work and happily sharing his delicious Greek packed lunches. I admire your meticulous work and also that you never edit out any mistakes you make. Thank-you!

Hey man! Nice full beard! I haven’t had a beard since 1979...I was a lead guitar player from a band named “Splash” based in Virginia Beach Va....my brother,(the architect) had his business in Kempsfield Va., near Pat Robertson and that huge church. Those were the days. I only lived a few miles from the beach and I worked part time at Va. Beach General hospital , part time. We really owned the beach back in the day! “the Cave” was our home base to play...we were the hse band...some famous artist passed through there on their way to stardom! Unfortunately we weren’t one of them! Take care sir!

I like your reply time to the comments. That was a great idea about her wear pattern and fixing it. I hate to waste your time with sending in shoes with just simple heel replacement but I had shoes done before and they came apart or only one portion of the heel was replaced and the other part of the same heel came off.😳🙄 Love your work. Hi Steve. Most people would just have tossed those shoes into the dustbin. It's definitely time to start repairing things instead of buying new. Both pairs looked exceptionally comfortable. "It looks pretty good" is Tom Johnson's "line". Steve does for leather what TJ does for wood. Competent craftspeople are a PRECIOUS resource. BTW, win the lottery; then have Steve & Tom craft you a chair. MANY years from now, that chair will still be solid, comfortable, and GOOD looking.

If your light source is constant you can set manual exposure, if your camera allows it. It might be worth getting some lighting for the video work, but also make sure the light is as diffuse as possible to minimize hard shadows. Apart from that, another great job, very relaxing to watch a master craftsman at work when I need to unwind.

I am gonna state the obvious : The repaired shoes far surpassed in quality and attention to detail anything Ferrogamo or Chloe have made. Fortunately internet and channels like this brings back interest and awareness of true quality and craftsmanship. More people are buying real shoes and keeping them for long time. 'Let's Continue'.

Great job on both pairs of shoes. You really made each of them better. I really liked the reading of the comments, reminded me of the Jimmy Kimmel segment about celebrities reading mean tweets. Sorry for the late comment I am playing catch up with all your videos... You are an amazing Cobbler, I dare call you a Master Cobbler... Seeing your reactions to the comments was enjoyable to watch. I agree from another video they should let you see who dis-liked your video so you could get input, but I feel they are not worth knowing about. A saying I use in my life "Why worry about people who don't like you, It's their lose if they don't want to know you better". You are such a joy to watch and I look forward to watch all your videos.

You read my comment. Yay rah! I used to be a carpet installer so I know about accidents happening. Got my war scars. Try using a carpet knife. Those razors are very sharp. You don't even feel the cut till after they happen.

Maybe just one or two quick comments. Great work as usual. Glad you mentioned that people should keep an eye on their shoes and not allow them to deteriorate so much before bringing them to the cobbler. People are not educated by their parents to respect and maintain their possessions anymore. Sad. The landfills give evidence of this.
