I made this today! I do have to mention some things: because the recipe calls for bittersweet chocolate, you will have that bitter chocolate taste even with all the added white and turbinado sugar. If you want something more sweet I would suggest milk chocolate and less sugar to balance it out. Also, this took a lot of time and effort for me to make so I would suggest to anyone who's not used to baking food to allot a good few hours knead the dough, roll out the dough to make a rectangle, and to apply the chocolate sauce. The chocolate sauce can get thick as it cools down so watch out for that. It'll be easier to spread while it's more liquidy. I would recommend putting the rolls in the fridge for at least 15 minutes before cutting it in half because it can get really soft and difficult to handle. Also, it's good to let the dough rise overnight, not just two hours.
To all people from Poland, Russia, Bulgaria Czech Republic or Slovakia: In all Slavic languages "babka" means grandmother (in Polish it means biscuit or soft sweet cookie too), so don't comment "lol in my language it means grandma", we all know! ❤️
Thank you! ALL video recipes should be like this - 3 min 7 sec. Most people don't have 30-40 min to listen to someone rambling about their life philosophy. Just show us how make something in quick, concise steps that tastes good. Well done!
Made this now because I have so much time. I lessened the amount of espresso powder though and it turned out delicious! It’s my first attempt in bread making and the kneading process was so tiring but so worth it
This looks really cool, except that I'd do the braiding on the tray itself so that I wouldn't have to wreck the nice pattern by having to lift it with the two spatulas.
this is in the oven right now, can't wait to taste it! i struggled with the chocolate sauce though, had to add more butter to get it to spread and i couldn't find turbinado sugar either, so i wound up using demerara
Polish culture isn’t being represented here. Babka is a Polish word, but the cake itself is a Jewish dessert originating from using leftover challah dough. This is Jewish culture, not Polish.
Oh my gosh! This looks amazing!!! 😊 Definitely a great recipe to try. I'm sure the Chocolate Braided Swirl Babka Bread will be an instant "hit" at my next dinner party!❤👍😊
I saw their first video in 2016 December they only had 700k now in a year and a bit there on 5.5 mill well done and well deserved taste I love your food videos
This is the only chocolate babka recipe I could find online where the end result actually looks like a real Jewish bakery babka. Every other one I can find looks too airy and dry. I have to give Tasty massive props for seemingly nailing the texture when everyone else fails.
Once I saw a menu from restaurant Its was in Poland, so dishes were in Polish, but there were translations to English. There were many dishes, for example babka ziemniaczana (a kind of potato cake) and śledź w oliwie (herring in oil). The translations: Babka ziemniaczana - potato grandmother And śledź w oleju - spy in oil. Śledź means in Polish herring OR spy. Well ok.
