Trying this had made me realize my lack of muscle strength and bowls Update: I bought a bigger bowl and an oven (previously used air fryer which sent the batter all over the place), currently trying the second time. Update 2: I wrapped my tin with aluminium foil instead and have it baked in water, it came out perfect
I did it! And Worked! Its delicious and worth all the work. To be honest, Its the first time i try a recipe from the internet that works perfectly lol. You should try! I added some condensed milk on top of the cake and used a mix rice flour and potato starch instead of plain flour.
I hardly post comments on youtube recipes unless its extraordinary and this is it. Cake turns out super fluffy, chocolatey and soft. I frosted with ganache and top with strawberries. Its divine. Thanks for sharing the recipe!
I made it without having great expectations for the taste, and the result was more than delicious.. The consistency is perfect. Spongey and moist. Thanks for the recipe!
Tried this today and it came out soooo well! The cake is sooo soft and spongy! The first ever sponge cake recipe that came out so well.. i was not sure of baking the cake without baking powder and therefore i added a teaspoon of baking powder to the flour and sifted together! The cake is not that sweet so if you have a sweet tooth then i suggest you add more sugar.. i actually added 30 more grams of sugar than the amount mentioned in the recipe and i wish i had added a little more but i did a ganache on top so it was all balanced.. and i actually powdered the sugar before adding into the egg whites.. Oh also, i had to bake the cake only for 60 minutes so maybe this depends on the type of oven you use.. its better to check the cake in about 55 minutes and take it out if its well baked..
I just made it yesterday, and it turns out beautiful and delicious! My dad never like a chocolate cakes except for this one! Thank you so much for the recipe! I used 5 eggs yolk and 5 eggs white because my eggs is quite large. Love from Malaysia.
@@shabnampm4943 yes, i baked for 90 mins, it takes longer baking time because using water bath. If you want to bake for short time, try make chiffon cake! Chiffon cake also have soft and nice texture but the method is different.
Guys you came to right place to try this cake please try this cake it really came well 😋 I was so happy , I never make good chocolate cake after I saw first time this video I tried it came out really well
Me: Epic fail.. I missed the bit where the milk was added. Boy did that thicken up quick when I added the flour and cocoa powder to the butter/chocolate mix 😬😁 I think I managed to rescue it with some judicious blending one I put the milk in. It's in the oven now, we'll see. Edit* well it turned out marvelously! Wifey loved it to bits, her new favorite cake no-less 😀
I've done this twice and both came out perfect. Though using cake flour instead, makes the cake so much fluffier. And I waited for the melted chocolate mixture to turn at least to room temperature before I added the flour, cocoa and egg yolks. The meringue is very important too, you need to get the right consistency. But anyway, thank you very much for the recipe. More power!
@@buttercupwisely yes preheat it at 150 celsius and then put it in But after its done bacino, stop the oven and let the cake rest, or else it will flatten
@@chatsbugaboo to be honest, the end result was terrible. I used a cake baking tray and while it was in the oven, the cake leaked on the bottom tray. It's a lesson learnt for when I make it again.. I wont give up. 🤓
I have tried this recipe today andd omg, it's really soft and delicious. Thank you for this easy recipe , I am a beginer in baking but I can easily follow it. Thank you so much, you made my day :)
My cake is in the oven..it’s baking .. its already 50 min.. n it has not risen as shown in the video.. it’s just come 1 inch .. and sides of the cake has released from the baking tray
Hi Katherine, I love this cake so much! Thanks for the video. Can I request cotton sponge cake for pandan version and matcha version too? :D Would like to try these! And, how would you recommend if I increase the portion to 8’x8’ cake mound? Thank you :)
I know it's gonna sound insane...but ...I have this video saved up and each time I feel likeeating a perfect choclate cake I come here and watch the video...because for one we dont get such cakes around here and 2 m too lazy to make one...like..right now.. :P
I made the cake for the 40th birthday of my brother and the cake is perfect and taste is great it is soft and fluffy didn't expect the result to be that good with that old oven, but I did it, very thankful for your recipe and will use in any occasion and did the Bain Marie and same steps as you did didn't miss a thing. thank you so much, bless you .#Kathrinekwa
Aurelie Armandine Hi, may I know the measurement in cups and spoon? I’m not sure the measurements I got from internet is right? Also can I use all purpose flour instead plain flour? Thanks
@@jaclynchng Hi I have just use the ingredients from the recipe she put down below of the RU-vid video, I don't trust cups or spoon, I prefer to use a scale to be exact and precise, you can use plain flour as well doesn't matter as the white eggs whipped and the egg yolks is going to rise the cake anyway + the steam from the Bain Marie. I hope I am helping .
So I tried making this and followed the video and quantity measurements exactly. BUT!! The chocolate dough just became a rock. Don't know how on earth that can happen but it's not liquidy smooth it's like grainy dough. ?????

Hi ma'am... everything is clear. But why you placed cake tin in another one and then in big tray with water? Is that water hot? Can we unmoulded the cake from pan by in inverting it upside down?
My sister wants to make a chocolate cake for everyone so this really helpedd she's new to baking and im younger then her but i know a lot of baking skills
@@keithstevenvincent4818 , I just sent grrtings but I abswer anyway, in y experience, It sometimes happen when the oven is opened during the baking time or when the oven is too hot, it seems to be cooked but flups up when it cools down. I would like to ask you if you are in high altitude, in the place I live we are at 3100 meters over the sea level and I have to add more flour and les shugar . In internet you can find the proper adjustments, I hope his will help you, and receive my best regards
I am at sea level ,I think I gave it less time in the oven I checked it by poking it ,I thought it will get burnt so I dent give it full 90 mins . 25 mins were remaining is it because of that
I think you can use whatever percentage you like. If you would like a little sweeter taste, you could use a lower percentage, say, 55%. Or you could use 80% if you want a stronger chocolate taste. So, 70% will be fine, if that is the chocolate you like.
The method for this type of cake calls for dropping the tin from a height of about 8” after removing from oven, to prevent shrinking. So dropping the tin wasn’t an accident but deliberate.
What is the size of those baking pan? And why you should use 2 baking pan? Is it for prevent the water leak into the cake? Why dont you use aluminium foil instead of dobel the baking pan? Thankyou
I made this recipe at 2AM ☠️ 😅 I did use a little bit of baking powder .Turned out so moist, thick, spongy ideal for frosting or with chocolate ganache.
@@harshaniehettiarachchie6017 Hello, I added half of a teaspoon with the chocolate mixture. I preheated and baked it at 150 or 160 degree Celsius for around 40 to 45mins. Also when you take out the cake turn it upside down with a plate and don’t touch it . To avoid deflation. I hope your cake turns out moist and tasty 🦋
Hi Mam. I just nak tau coklat yang kita panaskan tu kena bagi sejuk dulu atau terus masuk tepung time coklat tu masih panas ya ? Hopefully u answer this. Tqsm.
I tried this recipe out and although I messed up and seized my chocolate from melting it over too high heat, I decided to go ahead and use it anyway. The texture ended up less spongy than I would have liked, but the flavor was great! Rich, but not sweet. I used a mix of 100% and 60% chocolate and granulated sugar instead of caster. I'll be more careful with my chocolate next time.
Hi, I baked it last night. Cut down 20g of sugar & only require 70mins instead of 90mins but all else follow exactly. The cake came out with perfect texture & taste. But the top cracked badly, what cld hv gone wrong? I can't paste a photo to show u here.
Ms Kathrine Kwa, your plain flour is referring to self raising flour or just normal flour and no baking powder is needed. Pls specify what brand of flour is needed. Thanks
