Your spouse is so lucky to have all that great cooking! Wish I could make deserts like you! Very good teaching skills. I appreciate you explaining everything so throughly!
On a trip to Belgium, I purchased some chocolates that had Earl Grey tea in them - very unusual but I loved them. When I ran out, I made truffles with the tea leaves and they turned out great (if you decide you’re tired of Brandy 😉).
John, you are the best! And thanks for being left handed, it’s fun to watch a fellow left bake, decorate & & be creative in the kitchen! I’m in awe of your videos! Thanks For Sharing!❤️
As a kid I ate a whole bunch of chocolate truffles that had peppermint schnapps in them not realizing that it was alcohol. I ate about 6 and then took the hardest nap I ever taken lol thank god for kid metabolism cuz I woke up fine! Scared the s*** outta my mom though haha 😆
I had a similar experience with Jello shots at a Fourth of July party (thankfully, I was of drinking age, but just barely at the time of this story and so booze was still new to me). I was at a block party and there were all these tables around with food and drink everyone had made. I saw Jello shots, triple-layer ones with red, white, and blue Jello in little plastic cups and I thought, "What a cute idea!" I had about four or five within a few minutes, assuming they were just a festive, non-alcoholic dessert. Needless to say, I went home early from the party and also hit the couch for the hardest nap I'd ever had.
Lmao , the same thing happened to me but I wasn’t eating truffles ... I was at a party where some adults were drinking and there were a lot of kid . I had a cup of coke left on the counter and 5 minutes later I came back to drink the coke and my dads cup of wine was literally besides my cup of coke so with my 8 year old mind , I didn’t think much and grabbed my dads wine . Then I drank like half the cup of wine and then I remember my reaction being like “this is not my coke ... whats this ?” But somehow I didn’t get drunk 🤔 I remember very well that I stayed up all night in the party and I wasn’t like dizzy or something 😂 I think I can take alcohol 😜
There are so many benefits to watch ur videos. Firstly, I get to learn, it’s so relaxing, so much fun to see you working with chocolate, it’s a treat to the eyes , tastebuds and mind . Makes me so happy. Love to your twins. Thank ya so much for sharing your recipes. It’s therapeutic to watch your work. Stay blessed
Great recipe, John! It's a tradition in our family during the holidays to make these kinds of truffles. It started at Thanksgiving when we were making pumpkin pie for dessert and my young son said, "but we always have some chocolate, too!" So, I taught him how to make these and he has made them ever since. He uses a variety of flavorings and coatings, but we learned that in order to give them that "snap" you get when you eat a professionally made truffle, you dip them a second time in melted chocolate after rolling, just before adding the nuts, etc.
I have tried baking an oreo cake and chocolate chip cookie using preppy kitchen recipe. Both turned out fabulous. This weekend my daughter and i gonna make the heart shaped valentines cookies
“Or just walk away. It’ll be fine.” 🤣 I have to say, I watched one of your videos and you absolutely won me over. I love how cool, calm, and collected you are, and I especially love these recipes! Thank you! ♥️
A few years ago, I worked at IRS close to Christmas time. We all brought a treat to share with every one. There were these little cookies, ball shaped that I really liked. Funny thing is, no one else seemed to like them. I sat at my computer doing my work and munching on these cookies. It was the end of the day so I straightened up my area and got ready to leave and I stood up and immediately was very dizzy. No one bothered to tell me the little cookies were bourbon balls. I don't drink alcohol and had no idea people put it in cookies. I had quite a merry little Christmas that night.
Just rec'd your cookbook; only the second I've bought in my entire life (I'm 74). Bourbon also works well with this recipe; I made them a few days ago.
Thank-you John! I’ve been looking for a good recipe for Brandied Truffles. I like all the options plus the other option of raspberry powder and possibly my candied orange peel. They will be a wonderful addition to the menu for my Christmas dinner guests as a Mise Bouche. I know them well so I’m going to have to make a double batch and surprise varieties. ❤😊🎄🦃
I have enjoyed your baking so much that, (especially the bloopers as well/ enjoy the giggle or two) I got some of my friends hooked onto watching and now we try out a recipe during weekends and compare who's is the best On another note: In this video, your kitchen changed drastically, like the open-plan as well
Found you when I looked for my daughter's birthday cake recipe months ago. As soon as I see you've made a version of what I'm looking for I do a little happy dance. Your personality and your mannerisms make it a joy to watch. Love from the UK xx
If I'm making virgin truffles. Do I substitute the brandy with more Cream? Loving the energy and helpful videos. Thank you so much for sharing your recipes.
I love love love your videos!! A lot of these other baking videos are really annoying but I actually want to watch yours the whole thing without skipping through people talking.
May i ask for a brandy recommendation? Btw, i would like to say my appreciation for all your work. It’s so informative especially for a newbie like me. Keep it up.thank you so much 😊
It looks like he was using St. Remy's brandy for this recipe. You could also use Korbel, which is a really tasty, affordable brandy. Makes an amazing classic Wisconsin brandy old fashioned :)
Easy to make but for Brandy I prefer making Brandy balls with cocoa and nilla wafers crushed then after rolled into single bite size roll them in granulated sugar. Many will love chocolate, nuts, and brandy no matter how it’s made lol!
They look great! I’ll be making some for my husband....thanks for the different ideas for coatings. I have some freeze dried strawberries so I’m going to make the dust with them & confectioner’s sugar. Yummy!
I have just realized that his tossing and flipping things around is your signature branding. It used to irk me out. Now, I think It is so funny and adorable. Hahaha
Hi...Great recipe... Which cream did u use? We ve two types of cream in our country...Heavy cream and whipping cream. I am confused. ...Can u help me telling the difference?
Made mine with crushed chocolate cookies, fudge frosting & rum flavoring. Roll in ass't toppings, place in mini cup cake liners. These make a pretty X-Mas addition to a cookie tray. I have used the nuts, coconut, powdered cocoa, muti colored sprinkles, gold & silver sugars. Try X-Mas themed cake liners or plain( gold & silver). Placed in a pretty box they also make a nice gift on their own
You are incredibly inspirational ❣️❣️ I hate repeating what so many others have expressed, but I Love your personality 💕 I love baking, and for me you are my therapy session 😜 please tell me, what’s the brand/flavor alcohol you’re using? these look so good …I want to taste Exactly what you’re tasting 😋
I love your videos and I will be making these truffles for my husband's 50th birthday party. I love your recipe for moist vanilla cake too. Can you please make a mint chocolate birthday cake that I can easily make too? I'm not good with decorating using flower petal icing (see strawberry cake video), etc. but I can bake the cake and add fresh mint leaves on the side. :) I love your clean design. Thank you so much for sharing and making these videos.
Awesome! Thanks for replying to me. I found the video and printed the recipe (from your comment/response). I will be making this. The dollop icing on top is right about my skill level of cake decorating. :) Thanks again!
If you make for the kids what I use is cherry. Get a package og cherry coolaid mix a portion of it with powdered sugar. You can taste for sweetness. Works very well.
These look great, I am gonna make about 6 dozen for our family's Christmas Eve dinner party. I would have never thought to add alcohol but my MIL always gets Bailey's for Christmas Eve because she gets up early and prepares a truly amazing feast so she has to have her magic coffee haha! Im gonna make some of these with Bailey's as a hostess gift for her this year.
@@kb-ih7ni They were such a hit!! They were soooo easy to make, and everyone was so impressed like they were magic! I made the Bailey's version, I did a version with dark cocoa on them, I did a version with pecans, and a version with freeze dried rasberries. I melted them then sat at the table rolling them out, let them firm up in the freezer, rolled them again to get them extra smooth, then dipped them in the toppings. I got to sit down for most of it, sipping Bailey's and taste testing each truffle. I will never sweat over a variety of pies and baked goods again! I'm my family's truffle queen!
I am crying watching this recipe. Truffle is like my favourite, and it comes with alcohol as the recipe. I believe it will be my most favourite then. Will try this recipe next week 😍😍😍
