Salt doesn’t kill yeast, the only thing it does is compete with it when it comes to absorbing water resulting in a slower yeast activity. But you can safely sprinkle salt in your fresh, active or instant yeast without problem. You can even add salt and sourdough at the same time and nothing bad happens.
