Very well executed lady. Where do you train? I haven't done these forms in so long. I stopped training after my teacher passed away. Close to 30 years ago. I watch videos like your just to gage my skill, technique, power,. And honestly my opinion is that your a hell of alot better then the ones who buy a belt level. In other words id want you as back up anytime. My teacher would be proud of you..

Long shot as tis video is 3 years old. I did taekwondo for many years. i earned my 2nd dan. went to the army, got injured, been out of it since 2007. recently found a local school that is ITF. they have the weird bounce that seems to be the normal now a days. i did it like you did same forms but keeping head level, no bounce etc. for the life of me i cant find what that style actually is. doesnt seem to be american or eroupean. not WT, only thing i can think is just traditional TKD. what do you classify your stlye as? im thinking of rejoining local school, but so weirded out but the wave. been out for so long and brain damage. my google fu isnt working.
@JalynCroft
@JalynCroft 2 года назад
The bounce is called Sine Wave and the ITF started using it in the 80s or 90s. I don’t personally like how it looks either. I’m not exactly sure how to categorize the forms I do. I usually just call them ITF without Sine Wave. It might be difficult to find a school that still teaches the forms traditionally.

Hey I'm an ITF black belt. Why don't you incorporate sine wave? Is that a non ITF thing or from a different school of training?
@JalynCroft
@JalynCroft 2 года назад
My school just never incorporated it so I didn’t learn it.
@jasonwilliams8321
@jasonwilliams8321 Год назад
Generally most martial arts schools I have observed don't do this. I noticed in my own training that early on included TKD and later Shaolin Kung Fu I naturally began doing it as it is a much more efficient way off maximizing power. Most advanced practitioners (30+ years) as I have noticed naturally do it.

I used to take Tae Kwon Do. I never liked doing forms at all. They seemed like a waste of time. How are those forms going to help me defend myself if someone attacks me? They won’t! If someone tries to attack me and I use one of those forms to defend myself, I’ll end up dead! “Well, from the way he’s trying to punch me, I think I should do Basic Form number Two. Yeah, that’ll stop him…….!” Then I use that form and when I wake up from the coma, 3 days later, I notice I’m in the hospital with 5 broken bones and a Brain hemorrhage! I have Amnesia and I won’t even be able to identify my attacker in court!
@JalynCroft
@JalynCroft Год назад
Lol. I know forms were originally “self defense” but that’s definitely not the case anymore. We make this very clear at my school. We teach forms as a piece of our curriculum but we teach self defense separately. I personally enjoy forms but completely understand that some people don’t.
@jasonwilliams8321
@jasonwilliams8321 Год назад
Forms teach you to root and generate power effectively. Most Japanese based martial arts forms don't instinctively instill any self defense applications in you. Internal MA like Hsing-i and Pa - Kua however do and one will find that after practicing them for a time some instinctive reactions will develop.
@JalynCroft
@JalynCroft Год назад
@@jasonwilliams8321 that's interesting. I'll have to look up those martial arts you mentioned.
