I've started looking forward to these episodes about as much as next weeks Game of Thrones. Super fun stuff and amazing scenery! It's cool that you also show footage from the towns you visit.
Brian, that whole video was what mountain biking is to me. Challenging, fun, and just a great time with people with the same passion. That whole trail was so beautiful! Thank you so much for sharing. 🤘🤘🤘
This Mont Blanc series is some of the most genuine stoke captured anywhere on RU-vid. You're so damn lucky to ride in such an incredible place with a sick group.... it's gonna make the local trails here in the Bay seem like a bunch of firetrails lolol
Wow Brian you never disappoint. When ever I'm down and feeling sad I watch your vids and they cheer me up instantly. You have really inspired me to ride and I appreciate it so thank you. I am making a RU-vid account to try and do what u do but ride the best trails in England!! THANK YOU BRIAN FOR MAKING IT HAPPEN !!
Of all the locations you have travelled to, Switzerland / France is probably my favorite thus far. This trail looked incredibly technical and the scenery amazing. Awesome video Brian!
You made quick work of those switchbacks. Whether you have Bruno's endo turn skills or not, those tight switches are the hairiest I've seen! Congrats on living to swear another day haha!
Another great vid Brian. I was thinking Bruno and you made a good riding team just one minute before you said it yourself. Great to see you can find people that ride close to your own ability. keep shredding those trails up.
Great video as always Brian. Beautiful out there. I think the reason why your brakes are squeaking is because you have metallic brake pads which squeak when they get wet or in humid climate. Switch to resin pads and it will go away. Resin pads have much better modulation too, only draw back is they wear out faster. I used to run XT brakes and they are great very easy to bleed and very reliable but they are not DH brakes. I had to switch to 4 piston brakes when I started hitting steeper trails. If you feel that the XT brakes are fading over long descents than a set Shimano Zees or Saints would be better. I put Hope V4's on my Tracer which are also 4 piston and are amazing but no where near as easy to maintain and bleed as Shimano.
I`m running Magura mt7 4 pistons with organic pads. I know there`s lots of people that don`t like the feel of Magura breaks because it`s softer some even say spongy (very much like v-brakes), but I got to say those after you get use to it man those are some damn good breaks. In fact they are the best I`ve ever ridden. But I agree they are hell of harder to bleed than shimanos. And the reason I chose to go Magura is because it`s also mineral oil, so don`t have to worry much about replacing o-rings etc... every year, here in Brazil is very hard to find parts for maintenance.
Your setup is DIALED as always! I know now how much work it is to keep everything maintained and working perfectly to make good videos on a day by day basis, but man, you got it figured it. Chapeau!
Great! Brian you have improved a LOT your riding skills in this trip, I see you riding much faster!!!! Cheers from Chile!! Hope you could visit us one some day
Another excellent day👍.. clean your brake disk with rubbing alcohol everyday to stop that brake squeal. You may have to take your pads out and wash them in washing up liquid and rub pads together to de grease them. Once back in centre and adjust. 👌👍
BKXC i am running Sram Guide R 4 piston hydraulic brakes with 203mm disk. Not sure about what pads I got. I'll post a reply once I have had a look. No squeal when really hot or dusty so far. I have a 2016 Norco Aurum A7.2 DH bike.
This trip videos are the best you have produced :) damn, I am enjoying them. You guys seems to have the perfect weather to ride in. You need to practice those endo turns when you come home:) Bruno does them lake a boss. I can't do them either but I have bought a pair of flat pedals to train with.
Bloody awesome...just dropping hints to the wife for a massive pass out ... think I will have a bit of poo or wee come on some of them trails but they look so much fun
On my XT's resin pads make more noise than metallic, it's also better to start out with clean new rotors when you throw on metal pads.. Nice work , Brian !!
Whew! That was a sketchy trail, exposure not too bad (at least you would live) but those momentum stopping rock sections take some real skill. Good ride!
One of the things I like better about Brian's channel versus the others. I get that some of them are trying to reach a slightly different demo, but I appreciate Brian's unfiltered style.
If I was the one riding those trails there would be more F bombs being dropped ( the whole video would just be a long bleep!). Dig the raw, unfiltered and realistic vids Brian, keep it up!
I was watching some of your older videos and commented that you should hop or lock up and slide your switchbacks and forgot that you've been working on that since you've been riding with Bruno. Practice some in a parking lot or lawn. Your riding really good and improving. Before long your gonna be a beast
Sick!!! I know pads can just squeak from big descents and I actually have Deore brakes myself, and they are. It shimanos best. But check and see that your calipers are centered on the rotors.
Another great vid in the alps series Brian, would it be possible at the end to do a break down of all the bikes used and your thoughts on how they performed/compared based on your and the other riders experience you had ..cheers and keep up the great work and vids :-)
i like your channel, but honestly couldnt watch this series of videos in France. maybe its because US trails are SICK! cant wait for you next adventure, bud.
BKXC When you reviewed the HD3 you didn't seem too enamoured with it. Do you think your impression was based on your riding level at the time? How does the HD4 compare to the HD3 and your recent experience on the Evil Wreckoning?
Ever thinking of visiting Arkansas again? Maybe you could do a special subscriber ride or a meet and greet! I really love your content! I am with a NICA mountain biking team, and it would be cool for you to give us some tips! Cool Vid
Hey Brian awesome ride !!!! I was wondering if you ever considered filming a scenic bike ride through the bigger towns to get the feel of the area near the trails ?
You did great. Those switchbacks are insane. Makes it even harder on a bike with such a slack headangle. Curious, do you think you would have tried some of the technical rocky sections if you were on flats? I.e. was being clipped in scarier?
It honestly never crosses my mind that my clipless are limiting me at all. I can instantly clip out. The stuff I had to walk was ridiculous, whether I was on flats or had a jetpack on!
Fuck nuggets i know I say this from time to time. But by far the sickest and craziest trail you have been on to date. The whole following the river gorge down the mountain epic. So much exposure at the beginning and throughout the entire trail.
1:55 - yes in the conditions we see at this point in the video, I'd be taking my sunglasses off, too. The flashing between super bright sunlight and dark shadows makes it hard to see the details of the trail. I keep meaning to get myself a pair of clear eye protection for this type of situation. I see an earlier comment about getting photochromatic sunglasses; I'll have to look that up. 2:05 - Holy cow, that's chunky. I'm not sure if the camera is exaggerating the size of those rocks or diminishing it. But man, that's looks like some serious sketch. Or maybe I'm just hyper aware of that type of thing since I went down over a particularly nasty rock garden and failed to bail. Still reaping the benefits of that little mess (my bike survived it, though). 4:25 - The scenery here is not looking like the standard European countryside we've come to know and love (because marketing). This looks more like what I'm used to seeing in northern Arizona. 5:26 - you know what I love about this sport is how truly international it is (I'm sure other global sports are the same, but this is the one I'm familiar with). What I mean by this is that, no matter where you go, the terminology is the same, the riding postures are the same, the tricks and skills are the same. Watching your videos and watching Ben and your other riding group members is just showing that it's all just one big happy sport and the skills you learn in one locale can translate easily to others. 5:57 - Laughing in the face of terrifying danger. Love it. My wife is that way, too. Me, on the other hand, I just get wide-eyed and freeze up. I probably wouldn't survive this part of the trail. 13:50 - Are you sure you're not in Bisbee, AZ? Seriously, that little town looks just like it! 14:18 - Man! It would be so cool to ride next to a river like that! 14:25 - Pedal! Pedal! Pedal! Pedal! Haha! 14:40 - As my son would say, it's getting squeazy! 15:10 - What is this, French Walmart? Lots of fun. Exceptional video as usual. I love coming along with you on these rides. If I ever make it out there, I feel like I'll have at least a hint of what to expect. Thanks for the videos, Brian! Looking forward to the next one. Until then, stay upright and keep the rubber side down.
Hey Brian, do you prefer the fox or rock shox fork? I've noticed that the fox on the ibis chirps and squeaks way more than the pike/lyrik on the Bronson. Thanks, Keep up the great work!!!👍👍👌
BK, Great video as always! I have a few questions ... What shoes are you wearing? With all that hike a bike I am interested to know, is it still the Mavics? How many in the group were clipping in? the big one: Alps? Pyrenees/Spain? Moab? Whistler? NZ? ultimate favorite? Keep inspiring all of us to get out there!
