Just a handy tip if you don't have an adapter that fits your hose perfectly. I see a lot of 3D printed ones that address this problem and I see a lot of videos of people using ugly aluminum tape by the pound. Don't tape it AFTER you connect, tape the male adapter end BEFORE with blue painters tape. The simple answer to most of these misfitting hose to coupler is just build up about 1/4" of blue painters tape on the male end of any duct adapter, now slide the hose over the tape and, poof, perfect fit. In many case, don't worry about the clamps, just put enough blue tape on the adapter to it fits super snug, but if you want to clamp, you have this nice semi solid seal of the blue tape. All this talk about gaping of the hose when you clamp is taken care of.

Saw the carbon filter on AC Infinity’s website. Any idea if that will mitigate the smoke or smell from cutting acrylic or wood? I noticed you’re using the Glowforge filter now, but any recommendation to help reduce the smell of the smoke being vented outside. Trying to find a solution to not upset the neighbors lol
@MartinsonManufacturing
@MartinsonManufacturing 3 года назад
Yeah, great question. I know of one guy who used that same filter in his garage and said it helped with the smell. Just remember that carbon filters will only help with the smell, they won't do anything for the smoke. Using my Glowforge in an apartment I definitely hear you about the neighbors thing. At this point I don't know of any good alternative to Glowforge's air filter. If you get that carbon filter let me know how it works out for you.

Why not use the reducer on the pull side and leave the 6 on the push? Is there a pressure vs volume issue keeping it at 6 on the output?

The general consensus out there is that a 6" hose on the push side of the fan is the best. I didn't want a big fat hose going out my window so that's why I kept the 4" on the push side. Whatever option you chose though it will still do a great job getting the fumes out.

The exhaust fan in your Glowforge will need to be cleaned periodically (I ran mine for 9 months before cleaning). Your machine won't break or anything if you don't but definitely good to clean it periodically. The external inline fan will get dirty too. Same thing though, 9 months of no cleaning and works just fine. Neither are fun to clean though so that's probably why I wait so long haha

@@MartinsonManufacturing Do you have a video on how to prevent condensation to your machine while venting out the window? Great question and valid concern. I haven't heard of many issues but I also don't live in a high humidity area. Does the PRO make less noise?

Congrats on your new purchase! You should be totally fine, the air filter is much quieter than the fan in the Glowforge. I compare the noise levels of the AC Infinity fan to the GF Air Filter in my GF Air Filter video if you’d like to check that out, but you’re totally cool on noise level :)

All models have the same noise level, from my understanding.

Do you use the air filter from glowforge?

Nope, just the 6" fan and venting out the window. I might buy it in the future just to see what it's like though.
