This video goes into what features to look for in an ELR spotting scope, as well as the one I finally chose: the Tract Toric UHD 27-55x80 and associated 30x fixed eyepiece with reticle. Oh, and there's some 300 PRC 2100+ yard shooting too.

Looks like you made a great choice! I really think companies like Tract and Maven are changing the landscape in some ways. That consumer direct model looks like a win/win for all! I recently went through a spotting scope search too, but from a hunter's standpoint, where size and weight are much more important factors. I settled on the Maven CS1, which seems to me to be the best combination of price and performance for the smaller/lighter spotters available today. Love it so far! Cheers!

I'm quite happy with it. Not that I won't get that Hensoldt Spotter 60 at some point, but I have other things demanding my budget right now, including upcoming ELR Gear videos on my in-work 375 beast. It's my first time going that big, and boy does everything step up in price as you move up there in size.

@@TwoMinutestoTarget Yes, I'm sure it does! I've gotten spasms just looking at some of those prices! Well, it should make for some great videos! :)

Guess video older, enjoyed the review. Do you find that with the fixed 30x reticle is still good for ranging shorter distances? I currently don’t own a spotting scope and am trying to be really conservative with my purchase. I want to do it right the first time. I have two Nikon scopes and although ones a fixed p-223 the other is a P-308 but SFP. The clarity on my Nikons are very clear so I have hope for this. But recently went with a valdada G2 on my 300prc and now a bit spoiled.

I really like the clarity of the fixed reticle, and it is okay in closer, but better farther out where the misses are better suited for the scale. The utility of the zoom eye piece is quite nice, though.

Any experience with Leupold SX-5 Santiam? I’m between the Tract or the Leupold.

Have you compared this to vortex razor gen 1?

I haven't looked at them side by side, but I've used both and I think this is significantly better.

Thanks I’m looking at Gen 1 razor as they take Burris signature reticles which are 30X. All in cost ablut $900 but the Tract sure does look nice.

@@TrueLineOutdoors Tract has a 30x reticle that I use quite a bit and like a lot.

Wanted to reach back out and see if you had any more updates compared to Razor or Maven? Looking to purchase this soon. Thanks!
