Such a great video, presentation well built and nicely delivered, guitar playing is great, good reasoning and the topic is very useful!!!! Thx❤vl I will subscribe 😊
@@Grindstaff09 you know how some guitars are really good, but you don’t quite bond with it? I think with this one it was the neck profile. Just not quite right for me.
Great demo, great pickups! I just found about your pickups, checked your web & really interesting to hear the Anthem PAF Humbucker, do you have a video or sample of this pups? Thank you.
I just bought a like new used 2020 Eastman T335 with Suhr Thornbucker pickups installed by the prior owner. The guitar is generally great in my opinion. The pick ups sound good to me, but I don't have enough experience yet with these hollow body guitars, or pickups in general, to judge. I'll use this guitar for blues, jazz, and clean rock type stuff. Mild to medium drive sometimes, but mostly very clean tone with a bit of reverb and delay. I'm looking for a very traditional sound. Should I be considering a pick up swap? Where do these Thornbuckers fit in the range of options available.
one thing with semi hollows is they can be very sensitive to hotter pickups, and they can respond in a boomy way to many of them. Thats why we put our WRH in there to help get a cleaner reference to balance the low end from the guitar. Otherwise, you're enhancing the mud if that makes sense. Suhr makes great stuff, but it might come down to the right flavor you need.
I wound a custom set of pickups they are p94 style single coils. the neck pickup is an alnico 2 wound to 7.3k and the bridge is an alnico 5 wound to 7.6k the 2 in the neck is nice and clear almost bell like which I appreciate so much coming from muddy crap. The bridge is nice but I might swap the bar out to something which will add a little more bass or mud because it's still a little more tinny than I'd like it. I thought the 5 would be enough but apparently not! I have an ibanez asv73
We do! they are listed on the "Other Pickups" under products on our website. they re the full wise WR's with the 4 mounting screws per pickup. same design and wind as these WRH's
Ideally you will need to take the pots out, tying strings to them to more efficiently put them back in place. They usually need to come out in a certain order depending on how the company wired them. Some people will splice the wires under the pickups to make it easier, but it’s not always the best solution unless you are able to secure the connections well with good soldering and shrink wrapping the connections.
it may sound better than you have currently, but it depends on how your guitar responds to them. Who chose our wide ranges for this one to clean up the muddy tones of the semi hollow since many need that done
ppl are missing the boat on these things. I have a few of them and replaced pups and they're true rock machines done right. they're not called the burst killer for nothing. one of my favorite tones is a semi driven semi hollow. ooph, it don't get any better for me.
I've an epiphone Sheraton 2005. . . Exactly what you just said here. It's sounds heavy and muddy. . . I just bought a supro delta blues amp in the hope to get a better tone but sadly just the same. I guess I need some new pick ups. . .
So many Hollows have this issue and we wanted to clean it up. Try Backing the pickups off and see how they perform in your new amp, and if it's still weird, you know where to find us :) Thanks for watching by the way!
@@PorterPickups I've tried it every way. Sounds heavy muddy. . . Bass over powers the treble. . . Altered the humbucker heights at the treble bass ends but still no joy. . .
@@flomers1 sorry if it didn’t make sense, our models WRH and Smooth and Classic humbuckers can be found here: www.porterpickups.com/products/pickups/humbucker-pickups/
@@PorterPickups Oh now I see! Very nice for sure! Which pickups would you suggest for a nice bluesy tone? And what are your prices and turn around times?
@@flomers1 the Vansen 57 Alnico II is supposed give you a very traditional 335 sound suitable for Blues and Jazz and a set of those is only just over £30
