Not really a fan of dragon type since they're weak against ice and fairy, so I'm okay by skipping them. I am more into water type.

They really messed up giving Charizard flying as a second type. Should’ve been dragon or just left him solely as a fire type.

I also beg to differ that Flygon is stated to be "they're not too powerful" here, they are powerful. I choose Flygon all the time, everytime. Shiny Flygon is my all-time favorite shiny in that it has all my favorite colors too! 💙💚🧡

You can have a Pokémon before you have a starter, Pokémon iris’s Pokémon was given to her, so that technically counts her being given a starter, Pokémon

Did a platinum mono dragon nuzlocke, I made Dratini my starter, and I would say they are some times a little too balanced. And It wasn't as easy as it sounds on paper, most of the game was still pretty difficult.

Haxorous used Hone Claws! Haxorous used Focus Energy! Haxorous used Dual Chop! Haxorous is my dragon. Besides Dragonite.

Axew is a pretty solid option for the Dragon starter. Axew (320) and Fraxure (410) have base stat totals within their respective target BST ranges for base (307-320) and middle forms (405-420), and Haxorus (540) has a base stat total just five points above the target BST range for final forms (525-535), and it's pure Dragon in its base form. It would absolutely be perfect for the Dragon starter if it had better evolution levels. Axew doesn't evolve until level 38, and then Fraxure evolves at level 48 (averaging out to level 43). These are disgustingly high, and while they're better than several Pseudo-legends, they aren't better than all of them. Jangmo-o evolves at 35 then 45 (averaging out to 40), Bagon evolves at 30 then 50 (averaging out to 40), and Gible evolves at 24 then 48 (averaging out to 36). All three of these Pseudo-legends have overall evolution levels that are closer to the target evolution levels (10-19 for 1st evolution and 30-39 for second evolution). You may be thinking, "well, if Axew doesn't get as strong in its final form, it must level up faster, right?" No. It's still in the Slow experience group. Of the three Pseudo-legends mentioned, Bagon feels the most like a starter to me. It evolves at level 30 compared to Jangmo-o evolving at level 35, and it's pure Dragon unlike Gible, which is part Ground. Like the other two Pseudos mentioned, Bagon (300) has a base stat total close to the target range for base forms, Shelgon (420) has a base stat total within the target range for middle forms, and Salamence (600) has a base stat total that is way above the target range for final forms. I have a dilemma here about what to value more. What should I value more: Axew, whose final form has base stat total closer to the target range, or Bagon, which has overall evolution levels closer to the target evolution levels? I need to consider not just what's closer to the target, but also what would be more fair to use in a playthrough. After really thinking about it, I have ultimately decided to choose Bagon as the Dragon type starter. If you're going to deal with a slow leveling rate and higher evolution levels, you should be rewarded handsomely with a stronger final form, not one that's just as strong as all of the others. You'll have to do a good amount of work to get your Bagon up to a Shelgon up to a Salamence, but when you get there, you'll have a Salamence. Meanwhile, if Axew were the starter, you'd do a similar amount of work, if not worse, for Haxorus, which is noticeably weaker, and that would just be unfair.

Wish they made Charizard a dragon-type. I get that he would’ve been op, but giving him flying as a second type was the worst decision ever. In the end, if they weren’t gonna give him dragon, they should’ve just left him as solely a fire type.
