I can vouch for the Yamaha Crosstown lightweight hardware. I'm in two rock cover bands and they're the lightest weight yet sturdy and rock solid hardware for the gigs I play. One of the best investments I've ever made for my drums and especially my back

Agreed. I have the Crosstown pack and it is incredible. Every stand works really well and it is SOOOOOO light.

Honestly one of the best gear purchases I've ever made. The bag is awesome and the hardware makes gigging easy. I also got the foldable Yamaha pedal and I'm good to go.

Are you not bothered that it doesn’t have a boom stand?

Nick is the best teacher I never had. I could watch him discuss how paint dries and would be inspired and motivated to be a better drummer somehow. Keep up the great work with these videos! Respect the hustle to make them 😊

Yamaha Crosstown hardware nuff said, you can interchange sections with other products of the yamaha hardware range, i changed one of the straight crosstown stands into a boom stand using the CH755.

I had one of these DW snare stands and over time the tilt mechanism would slip. the aluminum arms would slowly warp over the weight of the snare and the snare wires would end up touching the bottom of the basket. The adjustable arm also got stuck on the basket and barely worked that well. It's eventual demise was a point of failure near the snare tilt mechanism. From watching this video the ludwig stuff seems pretty legit though. My personal opinion though is lift weights, stay strong and healthy and be able to use legit stands (with legit transport) that are built to last you 30 years instead of 2 years.

I had too many failures on the DW UltraLight.... Go with Yamaha... they were not first on the market but they nailed it.

Nick, I love your demos and assessments. I also admire your skills behind the kit. You are the main reason I still even consider Sweetwater. Lately, the sales staff have been dismissive and lack good communication skills. I’ve requested a microphone case for my Audix mics and was ignored. I called in and got a different sales guy who seemed to be better but it’s been months without any follow up. Thank goodness there’s competition.

What about Tama Classic? I use their pack. It is great! The snare stand is super. Also the hihats stand is so adjusti.ble.

I gotta' vouch for Ddrum's Mercury Flatbase Stands, which weren't mentioned but I'll mention them here because Sweetwater does sell them. Super sturdy, very adjustable, and they look cool, too!

Crosstown Yammies, I'm sure the whole rig (2 cymbal stands, snare stand and hi hat) weigh less than one of any of the other stands. I also use Pearl's Bass Drum Hoop Mount Cymbal Holder to fly my ride. I use a Sabian 20" Legacy. Works beautifully !!!

Correction on the tama hardware. Nick said "roadshow" but it's actually "roadpro"

No questions asked. Just get the Yamaha Crosstowns! It's like drumming's best kept secret. I have a crash stand I put a 20" medium crash on and it gets the job done when I gig. It practically weights nothing! At home, I still use my heavy duty stands.

Nick is awesome, but he didn't highlight the nicest feature of the Tama RoadPRO (is RoadSHOW a thing?): The convertible tilter that lets you use the stand as either a straight stand or a boom. I can vouch for these guys from years using them in bar/small room gigs. Fantastic workhorse stands.

True but the Roadpro are heavy, at least the double braced I use are. But they aren't ever going to budge. If I could get confirmation the single braced is significantly lighter, I may buy a set

Ludwig example of taking the foot stands off to turn them around for height adjustment is a no no. How many folks have lost rubber feet off of how many stands of the years? Those things are just meant to fall off and get lost forever. The one thing I wish all these manufactures would do is to design a high hat stand in the light weight catagory that has a swivel stand. Sucks for double pedal players.
