I love that you brought up the educational aspect of Disney. My 7 year old niece wore out the cast members at the Animal Kingdom by each of the animal exhibits. Both of us learned about each of the animals, care, feeding, habitats and the cast members were wonderful with her. The one on one attention she received was priceless and lacking in the classroom today. I feel she learned more on that visit then she ever could have in school. On our visit next year I am now allocating 2 full days at Animal Kingdom to learn more about the animals.

i LOVE this episode! I went to Disney for the first time in March 2013, and the parks were not so busy. I went the following year in August, and it was somewhat busy, but not teeming with people. I also went August of last year and it was BUSY! The airport was busier than usual as well. The Dis Team is right, go when you can go and not focus on crowds. I used to focus on that, but now I have to change everything around now. Thanks guys for such a wonderful episode, it is on par with my observations over the past 3 years.

We always do mid September-mid November. Two years ago we went in mid October...one of the least crowded weeks of the year. There were crowds but we had the easiest trip because crowds were minimal. We stayed at the Polynesian which allowed us so many easier transportation options and we planned our days to be in the least busiest park each day. We also made sure to utilize all of our fast passes through the app. We practically never had to wait in any lines for transportation or rides or shows. It was seamless! So while yes, there are always crowds, I do think the crowd calendar can make a huge difference in your experience. I always consider it when booking a trip!

We lived in Pennsylvania growing us and my parents would take us out of school every other year to go to Disney. We drove down because at the time it was less expensive to do so and we would do all of the homework on the way down and back....we had plenty of time since it took 18 hours each way

ok...i grew up in FL and have been blessed with many disney visits. I am currently planning a trip for myself and friend. She has never been to Disney. Holy crow I am already overwhelmed with trying to figure everything out and our trip isn't until early 2018!! The slowest time in our jobs is december thru january. I would have thought end of jan beginning of feb was a decent time to go for less crowds...now I just don't know!

I’ve watched this episode many times and always love how you all interact with each other. I watch older episodes and always find something new to me. When I was there the first week of February , the beginning of the week was a little less crowded, but come Friday it was so crowded it was difficult going down Main Street to leave in the early afternoon. Going through the Emporium was a little easier.

We always go the last week of school in the Spring. That week at WDW is mostly toddlers in Fantasyland. The mornings in the park are walk on to almost every other ride. Last year we took the Jungle Cruise twice right after rope drop, watched the Tiki Birds with only my family in the theatre, and then walked on Pirates. It is always fabulous.

I was in Tokyo Disneyland during a typhoon. They kept the park open but very little Japanese went , so we almost had the entire park to ourselves. It was great. We only got wet and walked on all rides. would do it again in a heartbeat

Hi All! As A person traveling a fair distance to visit Orlando (Disney--Universal--cruise), I LOVE this show!! I love the agent perspective, a peek behind the scenes in travel planning, and insider hints (and, of course the myth busting)!! I know some have been critical of the "plug", but this information is truly priceless for me in middle america. And, helped me tremendously to plan my first cruise!! Thanks!!

Good to know! I'm planning on returning in 2018 or 2019. We want to go when the decorations are up. We went the second week of November and they were just getting the decorations up -- in fact, with each passing day, more and more decorations were being put up. What was cool was we were walking into MK when they were wrapping up the taping of the Christmas parade...:-)

My mum and I went in March and it seemed like the perfect time for us. Of course it's been a decade since the whole family have gone together, so I can't really say for stuff like that. But with just the two of us, it was the best trip so far. (Except I did miss having someone to go on the thrill rides with!)

Being someone who used to live in Florida, and still having family there they are spot on about hurricanes. They're intimidating, but you ALWAYS know when they're coming. People may freak out who aren't from there, but I'd rather deal with them than the freak storms I deal with in TN now.

We were there for 2 weeks in the middle of September 2016 and it was busy but not crowded - however it was unusually hot for the time of year. We talked to some locals and were told that it had been the longest and hottest summer on record for decades. We have just booked to go for 3 weeks at the same time next year. We are fortunate that all our kids are grown up now with families of their own! Also it is still illegal to take kids out of school here in the UK - the rules are applied by the local authorities and the guy that previously won his case has recently lost on appeal by the authority to the high court.

When my daughter was around 6 we went to Disney at the end of September, beginning of October. It was awesome, the crowds were minimal, the weather was beautiful and we rode rides multiple times. She is 14 now so she doesn't want to miss school, we are going in July. I'm really not looking forward to being in Florida at that time of year, so we plan to go to Universal instead, a lot of attractions are indoors and plan to do a lot of water activities. I think taking kids out of schools is not a bad idea, but every kid and parent is different, and so it comes down to what the parent feels is ok to them 👍🏻

US folks cannot have a 12 day vacation? That's really sad to hear. Families need time together - there's so much more to life than your job. I guess the balance has swung way to far towards employers over there. Hope it gets better soon.

@janat2659
@janat2659 7 лет назад
Thanks. You're right. It takes working 50 weeks a year here just to afford adequate housing. That 2 weeks paid vacation has to be used for things like doctor's appts, etc. So it's not like many people here ever truly get 2 weeks of fun a year.

Yes, it has swung way too far towards employers. I agree that there is so much more to life than your job. It's almost like you are shunned for taking that much time off. I don't get much time off compared to the average. I also have to use my time off if I want to take off for US holiday days like Labor Day, 4th of July etc. Most people don't work on those days.

My husband gets 3 weeks paid vacation + more than a week of personal days (for appts, etc) but it would be detrimental to the business he works for, for him to take all that time at once. After the first week, he'd be working out of the hotel room and that is not fun for any of us.

Perhaps let's hear from people who don't work in the travel industry because I think there is a huge separation. 12 days is unheard of for the average family. Friend I used to work with (mother was travel agent) would get 45% off hotels and sometimes 50% off airline tickets to go anywhere he wanted. The rest of us get charged a full $100 a night for the hotel room a lone.
@nicoleharris4192

It's also important to note, that the hotter you are the less of an appetite you'll have. So, it's probably best to save your big meal at say, Be Our Guest, until dinner, and go for a small quick service meal like Cosmic Ray's for lunch. That way you're less likely to waste money on food you don't eat. Also, invest in the huge disposable water bottles you'll see at just about every quick service place. You can only bring in empty water bottles into the park, so if you save the huge water bottle and save it, you won't have to constantly buying bottles of water in the park, you can just refill the bottle at the water fountain; and by huge water bottle I'm talking about the Vitamin Waters. The stuff with extra electrolytes. Outside of keeping you hydrated it'll help you stay healthy while you are on your trip.

great advice. usually when I go to Disney world yearly we are dvc members with my mom and sister we always do up to 9 days we do 4 days for parks. 2 days Disney springs and 3 days we just relax in the resort by the pool and one the resort day we go to the boardwalk. we also some time plan our trip based on upcoming events for example for 2017 we plan to go when Pandora land of avatar opens. this year we are doing a Disney cruise in the fall

The first or second week in December is awesome. Its the slowest 2 weeks of the year, they typically have a decent special going and there are almost zero lines. Its my favorite time of the year to go. Oh and as a plus all the Holiday decorations are up and the holiday events like the processional at Epcot are going on and you aren't paying prime Christmas week rates to see all the lights.

Here in uk , were not allowed to take kids out of school term , we have to have headteachers permissions or not . N if we dont get a permissions n stil end up of goin we get a fine of £60 per kid then after so many days if u dont pay it it goes higher to 125 i think then if u stil dont pay it thats when it goes to court etc... Most people take kids out of term cos the holiday price is cheaper they say they rather pay £60 than 100+ per child for a holiday ..

I think Hollywood Studios is great for older kids, teenagers, or people who are classic movie fans in addition to Disney. Tower of Terror and Rockin Roller Coaster are probably the most thrilling rides at Disney World, plus Indiana Jones and the car stunt show are great. Worth a whole day if you've never been there, and going at off hours to ride the the two thrill rides and Midway Mania.

Disney cutbacks? They did this before and it bit them in the butt! Remember how Disneyland had peeling paint and light bulbs out and maintenance not done? All because they wanted to cutback and try to just sell merch? What was her name Cynthia something? But she was a part of the corporate think back then and attendance dropped, profits went down, and reviews were horrible. This guy has never heard the saying in business you have to spend money to make money. Spend wisely of course, but cutbacks almost always have short term gains but long term losses. This is the way of short-sided people and thinking.
