Today's episode is all about helping you in choosing a tractor (the right tractor!) for your needs. I'm sharing the most valuable lessons I learned from almost a year of research leading up to buying a compact tractor.
Buying a new tractor is a huge decision. Of course we all want to pick the right tractor the first time. Nobody wants tractor buyer's remorse! And we want to, ultimately, buy the best tractor and get the best value for the money we cough over to purchase it. I want to help you with that by sharing tractor buying tips from my own experience and the experience of others. I want to help you think beyond what we often assume to be the best tractor brands and guide you in finding the best tractor for the money that best suits your needs.
Thanks for watching! If you found something helpful in today's episode, please share and check out some of our other episodes. My channel is all about inspiring people to get outside and work with tools and equipment. If you like that sort of thing, hit the subscribe button!

Hey Glenn, What was your equipment purchasing budget savings before hitting the homestead? And what part of that that budget was allocated for a tractor? Is it a thing to choose a tractor based on how easy it is to repair? Or how accessible is common repair parts? How about buying a tractor based on how many assortment of implements that you get to buy in the future for the tractor? Could you make a video about how to make a round-bale and what equipment is absolutely needed to do so? You probably get this question at least a handful of times per video: How many acres are you sitting on there? Could you explain how the hydrostatic transmission really came through for you on those hills, in & out of different areas with the loader? I mean, what were some unique situations gears would have simply not cut it? How much more did you have to pay for that third function on your tractor? What’s the maximum amount of “functions” is a tractor capable of having?

I also have a Kioti CK2610 with box blade, front-end loader and brush hog, and I can say that the 2610 punches above its weight class. I've put over 170 hours on it since July 7, 2021 digging out a silted pond and creating run-off areas (I estimate moving 20 truckloads of dirt and clay), brush hogging old pasture, moving stumps and lots of brush using bucket-mounted brush forks, preparing a food plot using the box blade rippers, fighting a grass fire, smoothing and leveling a road, all without a hiccup. Maintenance is easy (no DEF) and the 2610 has not failed to do what I asked it to do, which is plenty. When I told the sales lady I was going to use it on 200 acres, she said, "I don't think that's enough tractor." Well, it is for me.

I had a really hard time deciding between the kioti ck2610 and the kubota l2501. We decided to go with the kioti for various reasons including the higher capacity, hopefully we made the right decision 🤞🏻

I'm at the same point right now..Kubota l2501 27,200 OTD...Kioti 2610 22,500 OTD...Think Kioti can't see giving 5k more for the Kabota just to pplay around the house on weekends etc...Plus the Kioti dealer is really close to me.

Great video. I live in northern NH and we usually get a ton of heavy wet snow. I need a tractor than will plow my driveway without running out of steam. I don't know where you live but with your experience does your ck25 have the guts to move dirt or snow without bogging or should I be looking for a larger emissions tractor which I'm trying to avoid at all cost. Thank you for your help.

Great advice. Have you ever regretted the 26 vs the 36 of the 10 series? I’m mostly worried about brush hogging and tilling. The 35 has 10 PTO hp more. Thanks, Chad. #purplecollarlife

Thanks, Chad! I have never regretted getting the 2610. It runs a 5' brush hog without any issues. I also run a 5' box blade on it. It has the same lifting capability as the 3510 and 4010. The main thing I like about this tractor versus the 3510 is that it has no emissions which means it doesn't have regeneration with DEF fluid. In my experience when you add extra emissions it adds another potential place for issues to come up later on. Also, it's an inconvenience that was avoidable. This tractor has done everything I need it to. Hope that helps!

I’m debating a TYM or kioti. TYM hands down is way more tractor for the money but dealer 1.5 hours away. Kioti dealer 20 min away

Why did you cross Kubota off?
@OldSchoolMillennial
@OldSchoolMillennial 3 года назад
Kubota is a good brand but for me to get the loader capacity I needed I would have had to buy a bigger more expensive tractor. When comparing my tractor with an equal size Kubota the loader lifting capacity is greater on the Kioti.

I understand your intent but the analysis is from an inexperienced novice destined to be disappointed in the long run. I agree, it is not about the color. But it could be about dealer support, repair parts, etc. May be about hydraulic capability, gpm, dual pumps, pto flexibility, third function to support a grapple, rear hydraulics, etc., telescopic lift arms, the seat. And you had better figure growth or be trading in two years, tractor and loader, that gets expensive. And, I have seen a Branson disabled for months while waiting for a hydraulic pump.
