Kinda true for me (everybody's different) I have never had a snake but I think the dog food is the same as the rodents because I have never bough them but I assume there expensive like the dog food
hah, and my dad says "on it costs too much too feed it.." and "oh theres no room.." when there is a crap load of room. PLUS WE FUCKING HAVE 2 DOGS, USED TO HAVE 1CAT AND 1HAMSTER. LIKE BRUH.
Thanks for the great information. A lot of the other videos I've come across, the people only seem interested in the way the ball pythons look.. & they dont provide much information on keeping the snake happy & healthy. So it's good to see someone who looks like they really care for the little guys. Thanks again.
Thanks so much for the video! I've been thinking about getting a corn snake sometime in the future, but want to research the best ways to care for it first. This video has helped me a lot and I feel confident that I'd be able to care for it well. Thanks again! Your snakes are beautiful, by the way.
Absolutely. My son was bugging me to get a snake so I bought him a baby green anaconda a couple months ago. I've never been so popular! He took it to school for "show & tell" and it was a huge hit.
I couldn't agree more i left it out of the cage then went to the store, and when I came home my child was gone and there was a big lump in the child's belly, huh he must have fed the snake then ran off :/
I'm really intrigued by snakes and I want one, but I don't want to have to deal with the guilt of feeding it little mice and stuff, because I'm a lover of rodents and I had many in my childhood and still have some. Any ideas??
All snakes are carnivores and it's a good idea to feed them rodents. Garter snakes can live on a diet of fish, if I recall, but they still should have rodents supplemented to them. However, you do not have to feed a snake live mice. It's actually better for the snake to feed them pre-killed frozen thawed mice. Many pet stores feed their snakes this. It is better because live mice can injure the snake or carry parasites, but frozen thawed will not.
As Penultimate said, you could get a garter snake, which the can live off worms and fish (if supplemented with calcium and vitamins) but rodents are a better complete diet. Another option if you love the look of snakes but don't want to feed them rodents, you could always find a legless lizard. They are lizards and eat insects (worms and crickets) and are more active/and behave more like a lizard then a snake. They are pretty cool but you don't have to feed rodents, though adults still benefit from eating small rodents now and then. Personally I love my snakes and I like mice/rats, but when I buy the frozen mice and thaw them out I see them as prey, not pets. Just don't ever buy live rodents for the snake and you should be good.
I had a garter snake and he would eat earthworms and I got him on a diet of frozen fish where i had a block of frozen cod and would slice off some strips and just thaw them out and he readily took to them. They can even be trained to eat raw chopped meat. They're good eaters. Fish is very healthy for them. As for rodents none but the largest garter snakes can handle them unless they're premature mice. And they could actually be injured by a live adult mouse. They bite back and in an enclosed area like a tank that can be dangerous. Also as an excellent alternative is live goldfish in a shallow bowl. They'll scarf them up no problem.. I found this out by observation from Ribbon Snakes and Garter Snakes who would periodically dunk their heads in their water bowls and peer around as if stalking. A fun feed which keeps them actively in predator mode and gives them the calcium from the bones. King snakes make great beginner pets also and are tame and good eaters of dead prey. Just make sure you run any frozen prey under hot water cause they sense heat and will take it much easier.
hope to see everyone decide to have a snake he is ready for it . good job man that u take care really good of urs. I saw too many ppl has nothing of the supplies that u have or have any knowledge about snakes.
Choosing your first pet snake. Step one: Decide which morph of ball python you like. Step two: Buy the ball python. In all seriousness though. Ball pythons really are the perfect first snake. Especially considering they have so many paint jobs. That's just my opinion though. Sure maybe 1/50 might be a little nippy just as a baby but most of the time they all calm down eventually.
Alex Crowder yeah i really want one but everywhere it says that they live 30-50 years :((( i want one that only get like 20 years old and something that is very tame and doesnt get to big, ive been looking at mexican black kingsnake but idk
Alex Crowder I prefer corn snakes, but that's me. Maybe my temperament works better with theirs, who knows. I have a beautiful ball python though, and she trully is a sweetie.
My first snake was a Burmese python. They are extremely aggressive. She would strike me from time to time. It didn't hurt, but it broke the skin, and startled me.
are there any good medium size snakes that don't get as big as the ball python but aren't as small as the king snake? Something that gets maybe two inches in thickness, & five to six foot in thickness. I'm thinking about getting my child a snake but I want to do as much research as possible. I don't want the snake suffering for my ignorance.
It'll be some time yet before I get one just so I can be well researched on it, the snakes health is my primary concern. They'd both be supervised I'm not like some mom's who let their kids go. I only plan on getting one when I feel comfortable that I know how to take care of one & I can successfully demonstrate to my child how to handle one
Steven Smith You can get corn snakes, or hognose snakes. Hognoses are cool for kids who like something different. Corn snakes have a bit rougher texture than ball pythons, and milk snakes are also a good choice. They are smooth and docile, smoother than a ball python.
Heather Williams You could also get a king snake, but don't get one if you're planning on having other snakes. They'll bite if they smell another snake's scent. But they're beautiful and do come in many colors.
in my opinion ball pythons are giid for kids becasuse if they get scared athey just curl up into a ball while some other snakes may prepare to strike. Its in ball python nature because they're naturally docile
I had a Black Arizona King Snake and it was the sweetest thing! He could only eat pinkies (Baby Mice) and we got the frozen mice and we out the food in a separate cage to keep them from snapping at us because it thinks we have food. We moved around the mouse with a 1 foot pair of tweezers and he was fine with it. Ate about once a week. We used glass aquariums to house our snake. We had a smaller glass feeding cage.
Hey guys, So I really want to get a corn snake! I have started doing lots of research on how to take care of the amazing reptiles and I am convinced I have the money and care to be able to look after one. But I have one question, Is a corn snake at all venomous? because I have seen some sources on the internet that they are but not near enough venom to actually cause injury if anyone can tell me the true facts that would be amazing!! p.s I think I may call him Leo! ;) MobFrenziedHomicide
Corn Snakes are NOT venomous at all. Corn snakes also like playing and human handling as they are not digesting. Im planing on getting one this christmas
When I asked my mom if I could get a snake she looked at me like I said I was gonna vote for trump ( no offense to ppl that like Trump ) and said, "what are you crazy?!?!?!? No!
LOL 7:55 "Sup Bro?" I've been deciding what pet I want to keep me company when I get a place of my own soon. Finally decided on a king snake, but you have a lot of great facts in this video! Some I haven't heard before like "Don't worry if they skip meals...unless their ribs are showing" and others I have heard like "don't leave live food un-attended" Nice to see a video where someone knows what they're talking about. Definitely the most informative video i've seen in the past week! KUDOS
Your King Snake is funny. He just refuses to cooperate with you. ^ ^ I loved the middle of the video when he peeked his head out of the hide, then shot back inside when you focused on him.
i loved your video i learned alot on what snake i wanted and ball python is on my mind! thanks again and i subscribed to your channel for further teaching of my new snake =)
This is SO informative, thank you. I'm still trying to decided on what snake I want, between a corn, king or ball python. I love them all, I'm just trying to figure out which one is less daunting to start with.
Lauralovex I just got my first Ball Python (and also my first snake ever) a few days ago. I have read that like 99.9% of the time Ball Pythons are completely docile. So far my little Ava has lived up to that. Even when they DO get scared, they will most likely curl up into a ball rather than resorting to striking, so there is almost 0 risk of getting bit. (By the way, when they aren't feeding, and they strike, they don't actually *BITE* down. They just open their mouth and shoot their head at you. It's more of a tactic to scare you away than to harm you. Their teeth may scrape your skin a little bit, but they won't try to puncture you.)
hey man I loved you vid i just got a baby ball python and ythx to your vid i have a lot on info and tips to take care of it ... just want to say thx for the tips
Rosy boas are the most docile snake species known. I would recommend it as a first pet snake considering they are the smallest snake species and Really easy to handle. Also they come in really beautiful colors depending on the type you get~
I might be getting a baby ball python, but not in a special morph. I guess you could call it the "basic" morph, but looks don't matter! I am so excited!!!!
