I really haven't come across a recording of No 6 that measures up to his, even the Greats like Richter or Horowitz fall short in my opinion (Horowitz's rendition deserves a listen though to hear him play Chopin like Bach there (imho), perhaps to do justice to the grave nature of the piece). However, Trifonov absolutely blows my mind here. Profusely mystical, such deep intelligence and sensibility.

just listen to his op 10 no 1 I don't think richter can touch it because he trifo plays it with such absolute perfection down to the smallest detail at an impossibly fast speed its almost like its not like individual notes anymore its like a whole new level. yeah richters technique was perfect but trifo is more artistic

His articulation!!! My god, this performance is incredible. Every single note.
@pabloalfonsoechaurren6406
@pabloalfonsoechaurren6406 4 месяца назад
There is actually nothing special about his articulation in the least. If something is special about it, is precisely his "anti articulation". I'm not saying you can't hear every note, but that's just the starting point. His articulation is generally quite soft and that is one of his main strengths. That's not what's commonly refered to as a "great articulation". Furthermore, you can hear in the 2nd etude, more than a few notes are missing there in the middle part. Might have just been a few mistakes but it seems that it lacks strength in the articulation. Pianists with an unusually great articulation are Zimerman or Ashkenazy for instance, and precisely because of that, they sound very different. I'm not hating on Trifonov at all, I think he's an outstanding pianist and I consider him to be the greatest of the newer generation, but articulation is not something that defines him at all.

Trifonov makes me smile, gasp, wonder all the way through this. Listening on my own here, I wish I had someone to share the wonder with right now. (It is after 1 am at home after all!) I am in awe. He doesn't deliver one study after another - there's a grand cohesion to his delivery - a real sense of drive throughout. I have played these studies, listened to many a performance of them. I'm shocked at some of the comments here. I was yelling "Bravo" after the first two etudes. I caught very minor missed notes here and there in the 1st, but the 2nd was pristine. I can't imagine the pressure a pianist must feel sitting in front of a keyboard at the start of doing this set in concert. Fortunately, Trifonov has the chops to pull it off. Incidentally, Trifonov is a composer who last year premiered his Piano Concerto in E-flat Minor but a video of it does not exist on RU-vid. I wonder if it's ultra avant-gard or more traditional like my own Piano Concerto No 2 in C Minor which IS here on RU-vid. Sure wish I could get him interested in premiering it.

You have to have loose hands in order to play op.10 no.1 with evenness and speed. But I’m sure you already know that.

Wow the speed is incredible!" An excellent pianist and musician you are just listening. Nothing goes through your head except where the music take you. I listened Chopin's study n2 op25 by Lang Lang. Good recording, amazing technic. While he was playing i was thinking how in control he is and how his technic is flueless. Then youtube recommanded me Rubinstein recorded in Russia. Poor quality, but there I didnt think anything. I was just following Rubinstein. I had the same with Zimmerman. And now Trifonov!

As a youth I has access to a wonderful Bechstein concert grand. As a young doctor in Bangkok we had a music group with a dozen or so members. Rhodolf Serkin came to play for us, in the sixtiecorrectly condemned our piano and very kindly donated a Steinway concert grand ( Now temporarily in the American University Alumni auditorium., Bangkok ); a top of the tree model, so delightful to play. About Fifteen years ago I went to a new showroom to try a Fazioli concert grand. It was an advance on anything I had ever played, such tender touch and Full soft sound. It was priced at 6 million baht, the Bangkok price of a top of the line middle class four bedroom dwelling house. I have thought ever since that If I suddenly has access to that sort of money the first thing would be to possess a Fazioli with all its pedals! We are so lucky to have the top composers to enjoy, same for pianos the top ones with Bluthner and Broadwood any are a priveledge to play or listen to. One day I like one, another day I happily admire another; comparisons are odious but to a pianist it is obvious who the most musical performers are and which pianos please the page former and audience. There are lots on RU-vid, aren't we lucky!

I have a feeling this early period in his career will end up being his apex. Insofar as it still exists the musical industry cannot nurture talent over a lifetime. His most recent playing already sounds to me a notch below his astounding first international years.

spero che ti sbagli. Comunque l'aspetto odierno di Daniil è quello di un soggetto con esaurimento nervoso, avrebbe bisogno di una pausa

His opus 25 and opus 10 are both the best renditions I've heared and I can listen to them repetively without getting bored due to the color in his music. Very refined indeed, he is so much in control.

in the seventies Maurizio Pollini started his career with the 24 etudes recorded with DGG. H e was admired by all the pianostudents. Today Trifonov does play these etudes much better than him. I am sure this pianist has a very interesting career in front of him.... He is a very good musician with good taste and the necessary technique .

Listen, Lang Lang is sometimes great. I love Lang Lang. But his Chopin is terrible; certainly not remotely comparable to Trifonov's.
