One of Chopin most brilliant pupil Carl Filtsch who died at a very young age of 15 wrote a absolutely brilliant concertino very much worth listening to.Chopin himself greatly missed him.
Leaves one at a loss for words, overwhelmed w/ deep emotion. FC was a virtuoso pianist, of whom it was said "his poetic genius was based on a professional technique that was without equal in his generation."
Well, there was also Clara Schumann and Chopin admired her greatly. He said she was the only woman in Germany who could play his music. When she was still young he wrote to a friend, "You asked me about Clara Wieck; nothing better exists." I think she played the first Concerto at her very last concert in old age. Felix and Fanny Mendelssohn wrote, "Clara Schumann swept us off our feet again with the fire of her playing."
I have always loved Chopin but am now listening with a new attention. The sheer creative invention that goes on from bar to bar leaves me absolutely stunned. How can you describe genius? Maybe this is the truth that the outer world and politicins try to hide. It rebels from deep inside ourselves.Chopin's lyricism always had storms waiting to explode - in the Preludes, the Sonatas.
@@mysterium364 - Yes very young and mature. Schumann was far behind the others, Chopin, Mendelssohn, even Clara Wieck. At 19 Schumann composed some early songs which he never published. Brahms loved them and when giving lessons in composition he would pull the manuscripts out of a drawer to show his pupils something he could not teach. He played them at the piano with tears streaming down his cheeks. Thanks to him they were published and performances should be available on the net.
@@mysterium364 -He was trying to live up to the reputation Schumann had created for him. What he did with his own works has nothing whatever to do with his passionate love of early and unpublished works by Schumann. He fought with Clara to get them published. He saw in Schumann a lyrical immediacy that no other composer had. He had to work hard at his epic dimension of which Schumann did not have very much.
My personal favorite phrase of the first movement. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-XzxiInQ73s8.html RePlayed it myself 10 times so had to share the joy.
