This is Ren. And we are the Renegades. We are you, and you are a part of us. I have honestly lost count on how many people Ren has touched in the same way that this touched you. Especially men, who have been conditioned not to express, let alone feel their emotions. Ren has cracked them open, free from the years of armor that they built around themselves. And SO many have been or still are in the military. Ren has said on so many different occasions that ,as much as he loves music and making it ( I mean…RenMakesMusic) , with songs like Hi Ren, Chalk Outlines, How To Be Me, Su*cide, For Joe, Seven Sins, Lost All Faith, Depression, Everybody Drops, Dominos, …to open up a space for those of us who are where he was for a decade or more: unseen, unheard, not understood and either completely adrift or treading water- exhausted and feeling utterly alone. You can actually see who Ren is and what matters to him in his video on Defining Success ( When he hit 1M subs on YT). ❤

You should never apologize when Ren’s lyrics get to you. Trust me, we’ve all been there! Multiple times. Sometimes every time we hear a song. Yeah, we watch hoping to recapture that first time we heard it.

Crying is a release, so let those tears flow!, this song has me sobbing! Recently lost my soul mate, best friend, lover, husband, sadly in a traumatic way and has left me with PTSD, now receiving trauma therapy, so yeah I get you I've only just found u through this song!, Chinchilla, her nails are her armour, she wears then to perform, I first saw her on the voice, her blind audition was incredible, well worth a check out, she has also done other stuff with Ren along with her own stuff, her voice is insane! Beautiful reaction. A lot of us have sobbed listening to this song. I have felt like a chalk outline from anti depressants. The Doctors tried hard to find one that wouldn’t make me feel like that. The ones I’m on now make me feel basically normal. Chronic pain causes bad depression which I have 24/7 for 15 years now. Hugs 🫂 🤗

Your reaction was the same as mine the first time I heard Chalk Outlines. I was a victim of SA as a child then again as an adult. I was suicidal, depressed and had anxiety. For over 20 years I was on various meds and nothing worked and I was even hospitalized. So they added more and more pills. I've recently had the courage to take myself off of everything and I have never felt better! This song resonates with me to my very soul! I still cry whenever I listen to it. But now it's because I realize what I lost for all those years. Thank you Ren for validating what we feel and letting us know we are not alone. Bless you!

This song really hit me the first time I heard it! Anyways you should react to How to be me - Ren X Chinchilla (live version)

When I first heard Ren some years ago I knew he had that “ something “ he has the ability to touch people from all angles, he surrounds himself with amazing artist like Chinchilla and Sam Tompkins and his cinematographer (Sam ) Go Dive into these two other artists, they’re both worth watching.

"If they can help you enough that you can crawl out of bed and still do something then, they have still value"....1000%!!! I was diagnosed with Depression and Anxiety and was treated with meds FOR Depression and Anxiety supposed to correct the chemical imbalance in my brain...which were largely ineffective because I ACTUALLY, later found out, have Autism and PTSD which were CAUSING the depressive episodes and anxiety. So, while the meds were not a permanent solution at all, they did kind of help, in a temporary sense (like putting a band aid on a bullet wound) get me to the next day, and the next until I could know what we needed to actually work on. Very insightful sentiment, very intelligent. Subbed on this video alone.

The thing I love most about Ren, is that he puts out there, the things"we" cannot speak or say. I can tell that you also feel that connection. That is what makes us "Renagades" the connection. "We" you or I, are not alone, even though it feels that way most of the time. I applaud this young man, that is brave enough to speak/say out loud what we are afraid to say say or speak out loud. At least speaking doe myself. There is a weird taboo, about saying how we really feel, and Ren is not afraid to just put it out there. I 51 years old, and still am not brave enough to speak. So I am in awe an love this"kid" who can say, what I am still afraid to say/speak/ admit to, out loud. I LOVE this boy, that can speak the truth for us

I love your comment of Ren's "creepy"places to film... He is an absolute poet, creator, actor and musical genius. The cinematographry is absbsolutely outstanding. So undeniably talented.

I always get chills from Ren's music, it hits many of us this way. It's just so relatable. For me, therapy, anti depressants and counselling has helped, though I still have to pull myself up and still find it hard at times. Some things, for me at least, never fully go away. I found Ren a few months ago...or he found me, when I needed it. Ive struggled with mental illness my whole life...and still wake up everyday and have to fight to get out of bed. Some days are good, most days are bad...but we keep fighting and pushing. Ren's ART has helped me breathe. Welcome to life after Ren. Amazing reaction. I know the feeling and i have chosen to give into that a little by just not interacting with the world, in my mind there are just way too many variables out there which elevates my anxiety level. If that make sense. I think we feel so alone because everyone is trying so hard to paint a perfect picture. The pills are a "fake it till you make it" cure, that I try to avoid. The best musical “siblings”. Ren has called her his sister from another mister and a female version of himself due to their similar approach to music. For me I think it shows in the fact that they both have that something special that draws you in and demands attention. To see it fully for Chinchilla, check out her live version of Fingers. This song always reminds me that one of the (many) things that makes Ren so great is his ability to know exactly when to be complex, keep it simple, or even use silence to get his message across. He isn’t flexing his guitar skills in this, just playing exactly what is needed with that beautiful guitar tone. And my favourite line in this is so simple, totally devoid of all the clever metaphors that he is so good at using, but it hits soooo hard: “I’m scared of being okay cause all things change”. I think anyone who has been through any struggles can relate to that feeling of not trusting that anything good will last. You can’t just enjoy it because you’re busy worrying about how long it will last and the feeling that will come when it’s gone. And then good days just make the darkness feel so much worse because you remember the light that’s gone… Ren is so special. He keeps being so relatable that it reminds us that we’re not alone. And we will always make room for more RENegades down the Ren rabbit hole cause we all need his light in the darkness 🐰🕳️ If you want more emotional singing from Ren, please check out one of my personal favourites: Crutch feat. Bibi. It’s an older song from before he was finally correctly diagnosed with Lyme disease and was written after a breakdown following multiple emergency trips to the hospital.
