The drought that we have been dealing with is really taking its toll on our corn this year, causing us to have to start chopping our corn earlier than we'd like. The International 1256 on the New Holland 790 Corn Chopper gets right to work. You can really see the difference in the corn throughout the field. Back at the farm, the International 1066 is running our bagger while the 830 Case is hauling chopper boxes back and forth.

Trinity Dairy was established in 2006, in Minnesota. Alan and Jennifer farm with their 5 children; Jessica, Justin, Jordan, Joshua, and Jason. We milk a mix of 33 Jersey, Holstein, Brown Swiss, Guernsey, and Ayrshire cattle. We also enjoy sharing our family's love of Draft Horses and using them for logging and other farm work. Dairy Farming in Minnesota can be challenging, but it's a lifestyle we really enjoy. Subscribe today to watch our small family dairy farm and family grow while continuing to thank our Lord for the blessings we've been given.

It's been a lot of yrs ago my uncle planted sorghum for silage. The sorghum got 18 feet tall. An a John Deere one row chopper a wagon to blow into. The a John Deere did not have enough power to do job. They run the a wide open , pull the rig across the field with another tractor. Chopped the whole patch of feed that way.

Great video! But I will warn you about the quick hitches, especially the NH ones. The wagon can unhook itself on down slopes, but you don't notice it until you go uphill. And you have to mind the slope when you unhook. I have seen more than 1 wagon go astray, into the hollow if you are lucky, into the fence if you aren't! Best of luck getting it working, and I hope you make enough feed for the year! 👍

When the bagger and the 1066 inch forward do you have to manually move the case and wagon forward also?
@trinitydairy
@trinitydairy 11 месяцев назад
Yes, we usually sit in the Case and move that along with the bagger.

Alan, we have to have a long talk. I could be mistaken, but I think I saw a "Weed" in one of your corn fields. Could this be true? Just complimenting you on your weed free fields! Always loved harvest season, especially chopping corn. I used to do the chopping with a JD 4520 and a two row JD chopper with a re-cutter screen. Sure did make for some tractor grunting but it sure did chop things up nicely. Once again - nice looking fields.
@anthonyhengst2908
@anthonyhengst2908 11 месяцев назад
Those recutter screens really do make our tractor snort too. When we had that old John Deere 820 we were heard from a mile away.

Hey Allen, does the preservatives used help with fermentation and cows like it more? My uncle sold triple F years ago and we used something like that as well.
@trinitydairy
@trinitydairy 11 месяцев назад
It helps with fermentation and dry matter loss.

How many acres do you plan to chop? I'm sure yield is down from spring projections, I'm just curious.
@trinitydairy
@trinitydairy 11 месяцев назад
I don't think any of it will Make picking corn, so it will all get chopped, should be between 50 and 60 acres.
@anthonyhengst2908
@anthonyhengst2908 11 месяцев назад
This corn looked a little bit better today. Will you have a little corn left for picking or was it to dry this year for that? Maybe your Uni gets a year off....
@trinitydairy

I think the uni is going to be quiet this year.

Are your soils sandy in your part of Minnesota? They don't look like the dark clay soils in the western part of the state.

Could you have topped of the silo with 15 feet left in it or not?
@trinitydairy
@trinitydairy 11 месяцев назад
I could, but then the cows wouldn't get any silage for a few weeks while the new silage ferments.
