A journey to Peru has become synonymous with a trip to the ancient Incan ruins of Machu Picchu, but many travelers don't realize that it is not the only significant Inca ruins found in the region.
On our recent visit to Cusco, we decided to take a path less traveled and embark on a hike with Apus Peru (www.apus-peru.com/) that would take us to Choquequirao, a lesser know, but an equally impressive set of ancient Inca ruins hidden deep in the Apurimac Valley.

Yeah its one of our old videos when we didn't used to subscribe to a proper audio licensing service, so it was a royalty free one. Our newer videos definitely have some better audio ;)

Cool video! Was it easy to travel there with a drone for filming?
@Drinkteatravel
@Drinkteatravel 5 лет назад
We came overland so it was easy to come into Peru with a drone but I have heard different reports for people flying into the country. But whatever you do just be respectful, dont fly over crowds and follow good general practices while flying.

What time of year did you do this hike? Would you recommend it?
@Drinkteatravel
@Drinkteatravel 6 лет назад
We went in may, shoulder season, and only had a one afternoon of rain, which was perfect. Its an amazing hike, just make sure you choose a good and sustainable tour operator.

This isn't much of a video about the ruins. Great that people in comments bring bacj memories,but there is absolutely almost 0 info about the actual ruins or even why to consider it as an alternative.
@Drinkteatravel

Yeah it was more of a soft vlog about what its like hiking out and visiting there. I am sure you could find more precise documentaries that would explain the importance of this site vs Machu Picchu.

Your allowed to fly a drone at the site? Does one need a permit or how does it work?
@Drinkteatravel
@Drinkteatravel 6 месяцев назад
We took this footage many years ago, so you would need to look up current drone regulations in Peru. We asked the ranger that was at the site and he was ok with it at the time.

Id look for mountain giants and lore of them there , but then they were the gods .the last bastion of an whole race , in places high out of the way. Where else could they hide ? Islands Antartica ? even off planet or under the earth . whoever built these structures had the power to do just about anything. Leaving these places for other diggs is inconsequential, The place is like all the megalliths mysterious logistically I like the ideas perhaps a fort or a place of exile . Perhaps it isnt wise , but choices are what we are all given . High places against a flood. They might have had a hundred years or so warning .
