When I downloaded The chord progressions chart, it came out as an image (PNG I believe) If you were wondering where to get the files from, go to www.musictheoryacademy.com/understanding-music/chord-progressions/ , Near the bottom of the page, there will be two images for you to download (one for major chord progressions and one for minor chord progressions) Hope this helps!
Learn a collection of classical songs, start with the easiest perhaps. Then through other styles you might listen to let them influence what you have learnt and start writing some basic, easy, and not so serious songs so you can learn and make mistake and enjoy yourself. Like nursery ryhmes and build from there. Allow yourself double the time - no pun intended - than you first thought to do this and these things. It'll take a while ultimately.
