Love the MK1 Escort. As a seven year old kid I remember going with my Dad to pick his brand new Escort up from the showroom in 1974. He let me have the day off from school to go with him as he knew I loved cars. He kept it for two years, them put it in for a brand new P reg MK2 Escort from the same dealer. Happy days. Thanks for the video Adam.
Yes me too, I’m a dyed in the wool Ford boy but I did buy a left hand drive Mk1 Golf GTI quite cheaply off my cousin who worked abroad back in the 70s, (didn’t keep it long but it went like a scalded cat!)😁
What a stunning car!! love the mk1s but this looks a1 love the interior 👌 think I'd have to put seat belts in it tho 😜 massive credit to the guy 👍 Adam keep the cars coming man great video 👌
I had a 1969 twin cam years ago loved driving it. Very low geared 85 in top max. No good on motorways. But quick on A and B roads I love this build but I do prefer the standard twin cam without the big arches. The best escort in my opinion is the Murray escort by Retropower.
What a belter .. just around the corner from me. I actually had to pull over the other week and parked exactly where your parked in that little car park lol… and they are my local back roads blasted up many many times oioiiiii 😊❤
Mint car that Adam, my brother had a 1300GT bubble arched mk1 Alan Mann replica in Blackpool in the 90's - You could open the locks with a tea spoon handle lol. His was the earlier one too I remember it needed a reverse light for an MOT and no seat belts !!!
This car is awesome! I remember it actually flying past when I was playing golf at the beamish park course just down the road from that car park you were in, also the black horse pub is really nice for munch if your ever about again! Top lads
My cousin had a white mk1 Mexico in the mid 80s with the webasto sunroof, the car went like stink but it was full or body filler,It ended up in the back garden and parted out,the shell was rotten
Wow mk 1 golf was lovley but the mk 1 escort is next level whst a good solid build love the noise over it he’s done good job restoring amazing love it 👊🏻👊🏻👊🏻
The surge in interest and demand for classic Fords is astonishing. I’ve been a devoted fan since 1969 and still am now. I had a lovely bubble arch escort as my second car (back in 1972) modded from a 1300 GT with the six dial dash, with a 1600 cross flow lump on downdraught Weber. Great looking but not too quick. Sold that for my first of six Capris, as the girlfriend found them “more comfortable” …😊😁
I've never seen one so square ⬛ and solid under the bonnet, and I've been under more than I can remember ,not one kink or dent ,factory mint, no plates welded on strut/shocker tops 😂5:20
American , never seen one of these . I see the charm in these . Looks tidy in the engine bay , love the wheels . Like to know what it weighs . 195 is healthy for a small car , not terrible sound for 4 cyl and kind of rowdy sounding . Very clean all around, I cant understand the English but I believe like they were talking about lack of seat belts or only lap belts, at least the seats are high , looks like fun to wind up on back roads . Yeah , very nice, alien to me but very nice.
Mk1 Escort RS2000 weighs around 925kg (2039lb). This car may weigh slightly more with the extra doors and new engine and gearbox etc. but still a healthy 200ish bhp/tonne. These guys have North Eastern accents which even people from Southern England can struggle to understand so you’re not alone. Good guys and a lovely car though.
Apparently the 5 door is lighter and stronger than a 3 door, there's a 5 door with an S2000 fc20 engine 800bhp absolute weapon was on motor addicts channel (mk2)
Borderline perfection, I should Zetec my Capri but the 1.6 pinto is absolutely singing with the hot cam and Weber at the moment, unbelievably around 90 bhp feels really nice, not super fast obviously but even after driving my other daft 300 bhp car the Capri still feels great
Aye that’s quality mind and the golf was 👌🏻aswell but the escort is definitely the better choice he has done a mint job and deserves 🤑🤑🤑when he does decide to sell it👍🏻
Lmno ,all the yanks will be thinking a geordie is an Australian 😂,I had the rear spot for the coppers eye's 😮 real nice motor ,I'd love and cherish it for years.
I own the mk1 golf (have done for last three or four years but didn’t buy it of this guy ) bought it from down Leichester any info on its history would be of interest cheers lee
