Phlebas the Phoenician, a fortnight dead, Forgot the cry of gulls, and the deep sea swell And the profit and loss. A current under sea Picked his bones in whispers. As he rose and fell He passed the stages of his age and youth Entering the whirlpool. Seriously Chris, your titles have introduced me to so much literature and more that I'd never discover otherwise, and I will always thank you for that.
Listened to all the commentaries so I can appreciate your music more. Love all the work you do, Chris. 1:20 reminds me of some music from South Asia (I'm from there).
Hot take but might be time to put a few back on. Aggressive and crazy songs are awesome and all, but I just miss the atmosphere the old tracks had. It’s been dropped a lot this latest album.
Bought all of your risk of rain albums and the deadbolt album on bandcamp a couple days ago. Came for the game, stayed for the music. I don't know how you do it, Chris.
I love the names for all these songs, always such crazy references. Thank you for making all this good music to make my brain happy. George's solo was so good, keep up the good work!
Honest to god, you are probably my favourite musician Chris. I listened to Gospels of the Flood a week ago, and it honestly really cemented itself as one of my favourite pieces of media of all time after I heard the Harpsicord in Here comes the Flood and the Tack Piano in Eye of the Needle. You got such an amazing range of Talents Chris, and i am so fucking excited to experience all the new stuff you have to offer with the SotS album, as well as your future work. I picked up all the Vinyls months ago, and i can honestly barely wait xD. All i'm waiting for now is a GotF Vinyl, as well as the leitmotif appearing in RoR2 at some point if opportunity shows. God bless you man.
Thank you for listening to Gospels, means a lot to all of us who worked on it! I don't think a GotF vinyl will be produced but I'd love to do a CD that contains the Audio Drama and the soundtrack :)
I have a playlist just titled cool music stuff and everytime Chris posts something I just throw it into that playlist before hearing it, might have to give it its own playlist
Chris, you are by far my favourite music composer. Every single piece by you (and I believe I've listened to most of them) is incredible, hands down. Thank you.
5 minutes (before premiere) of waiting and then it will be another around 5 minutes of Instrumental Orgasm. You doing a Great job Chris, you always did, Risk of Rain wouldn't be that what it is today. 😊❤
I've been enjoying the new releases so much. This feels a bit more experimental, but it still captures the identity of risk of rain. Love your work Chris, and can't wait for the full album to drop already
It makes me sad to see people hating on Chris for the way he treats the rights to his music, but if I'm honest it should be standard practice. As someone who wishes to get into the game industry, it sucks to see the way that game OSTs and artists are treated by both companies and the fans. Anyway, I've loved each and every one of these since they came out, and the drums have been PHENOMINAL on all of them. Sending love from England!
Hi Chris! I am consistently one of your top 1% listeners on spotify wrapped (have been for the last 4 years or so) Thanks so much for all of your music! My friend and I always have a listening party whenever a full album of yours comes out. Your work is always incredible, whether it be ROR, Deadbolt, Gospels of the Flood, or the Sea will claim everything. Question - if you were to make your own independent album outside of VGM/audio dramas/etc, would you stick to the heavy synths and drums like in your ROR albums, or go for a more melancholic piano like in the Sea will claim everything and gospels of the flood?
bro chris you absolutely cooked on this soundtrack addition, incredible shit, now if only i could say the same for the gearbox dev team, but goddamn you cooked
CHRISSSSSS I've replied to reach one of these new releases and every one is just absolutely INCREDIBLE but you've heard me embellish these enough already. What made you choose "Forgot the cry of Gulls" as the title for this?
Most titles are gathered independently from the music, either from random encounters in stuff that I read or during research for titles. Once the pieces are developed I start to pair them with the available titles. This piece seemed like a good fit for this one (the sustained guitar helped, it really sounded like a gulls cry) :)
Chris, no exaggeration, your compositions are life changing. Love the new soundtrack as much as your previous ones. Fire beyond belief. Your talent as a producer, writer, musician, and composer is beyond human comprehension.
Rest assured people negatively rating the DLC are only doing so because of the bugs. The new stages and especially music were knocked out of the park. Amazing work as always dude
Chris, do you have some kind of quota for weird time signatures? Om Mani Padme Hum Part I has 13/4 this one has a mix of 11/8 and 13/8, etc. It seems you like them a lot (It's not complain, I love it)
I enjoy exploring odd meters, it's just an important aspect of music as the notes, the chord progression, etc. I really enjoy creating patterns that make complex time signatures feel natural, and on the flip side I enjoy writing in ways that mess with our perception of meter. I have nothing against a good old 4/4 but I like some variety :)
I really hope in your next commentary video if you make one you talk a little more about the "feel" of the album. A lot of the time you talk about the composition and technical stuff I hope there is more "feel" stuff if that makes any sense. Absolutely love the new album you are on a whole different level man!
This one is also very mysterious to me. I have to know what kind of track with one will be. I guess we’ll find out tomorrow when we can hear it in game.
This is probably the most Dream Theatre sounding track I've heard you make! The end especially! And I mean that as a compliment, obviously! I LOVE THIS Quick edit: It obviously still has its own RoR/Chris sound, but I can definitely hear the DT influence in there!

the melodies in all of the seekers of the storm tracks have been so weird, not sure if i like it but I have a feeling theyll grow on me but the instrumentation itself is definitely my favorite part in most of these
