I met Cornell a couple of times, in semi recent years. He was exactly like he is here. Kind of distant, a little aloof, yet cordial and friendly. Definitely had that “Seattle iciness” like you read about, but not in a bad way. He signed an autograph for me, and patiently put up with me fanboying him...

Its amazing really. We, and I have been following this man since the late 80's. Listening to his music, deciphering his lyrics. Its the soundtrack of my life and many of our lives here. You get a sense that you know him. Someone that has had such an impact in my life and he does not even know who I was, or most of us were. When I hear that he was such a patient man in real life and stories like yours where he puts up with fans saying the same thing he probably heard a million times, its appreciated. Its great to know he was not a prick. Thanks for sharing that stroy.

I remember the 90s well, my best years, and it was a great time to be alive. Young and free, all you had to do was just show up (concerts, parties, coffee shops,) and talk music and you were instantly in. The people were fantastic, fans and artists, bands would interact with one another, always supportive, nonjudgemental, so real, the bonding its virtually non-existent now. The guy video taping this, probably was the only guy at the event with a video camera.

Chris wrote "Reach Down" and "Say Hello to Heaven", in tribute to his friend and I think Alice in Chains wrote the song 'Would' in tribute to Andrew as well. Many bands dedicated songs or albums in memory of Andrew as Faster Pussycat, War Babies, Candlebox. He died only days before release the band debut album. @lauramalizia9636
@lauramalizia9636 4 года назад
@@MaxViciousWorldOfArt I'm 42 years old but found my writing and drawing book from when I was 10 and in 5th grade. I wrote a Christmas story loosely copied off the movie Back to the Future. It was Christmas morning and a bunch of kids most likely my own age at the time, 10 were grumbling when they're parents told them it was time to go get out of pajamas and dressed for church. They moan and groan, etc, but the younger brother says it's time to use it. My invention. Of course it's a time machine. Other neighborhood friends who didn't want to go to church either snuck out. Their plan was to go back in time and be there for the very first Christmas so they could say they were there for the real thing so they never had to go to church again. So the kids all pack in. Boom, there they are in crowded Bethlehem... In a puff of smoke, startled the townspeople planning on staying at the inn... So it was then really easy to find a very pregnant Mary sitting on a donkey with Joseph calming everyone down and now there were plenty of vacancies at the Inn. The children introduced themselves, the brother who created the time machine translating English to Hebrew, says, "Isn't this great?! Now your baby Jesus can be born inside the Inn. If we didn't show up, there was gonna be no room and you were gonna end up staying in the stable with the animals, with no real bed for your baby. You would have to lay him in the manger in that itchy hay where the animals eat out of and poop all over the place... continued in next comment...
@lauramalizia9636
@lauramalizia9636 4 года назад
@@MaxViciousWorldOfArt continued.. Mary and Joseph were happy to have a room in the Inn with all the accomodations. But kept questioning the children about the machine they arrived in. Kept asking after baby Jesus was born if their coming from the future to help them may cause more harm than good. Anyhow the children decided it was time to back to 1988. In my story instead of showing they deleted themselves, I explained no one knew Jesus was ever born. He was not recognized by anyone as our true Lord and Savior. The star over Bethlehem lead the wisemen and shepards to an empty stable. Being that Mary and Joseph had the baby in the Inn made it too easy for King Herod to find this Baby Jesus who was to be the king. Mary and Joseph were blindsided and not where scripture would have had them safe from being found by King Herod's men and baby Jesus was killed. The light of the world was gone and all thought our Jesus was another prediction of a savior who never was. When the children returned, their time machine arrived right where it left from,but nothing was the same. It was a ghost town. Their parents were gone, their house was gone and the children didn't realize they were invisible to the zombie like people who roamed the streets in rags. But one man, the town seer who was very old did see them. He looked like Santa Claus but was not fat and jolly or in a red suit. But the children realized the old man could see them so they panicked, asked many questions and what year was it. The man replied it was the 1,988th year of darkness. Then he looked at the kids again and looked in his crystal ball and said to them it's you!! It's your fault! Let me show you! You were children who interfered and changed the future forever! The children looked into the crystal ball. There was no Jesus. There were no apostles. No new testament. No eternal life. No Christmas. No Easter. It was horrible. The children felt horrible. They asked what the gentleman's name was. He said Chris. He told them they don't exist. That only because he was a seer he could see them but that they must go back in time and fix their mistake. They must go back in time about a day before Mary and Joseph were waiting in line at the Inn. Be as discreet as possible and hide the time machine in a desolate area, away from the center of town... Continued.
@lauramalizia9636
@lauramalizia9636 4 года назад
@@MaxViciousWorldOfArt they were to dress in clothes that Hebrews wore back then and quietly blend in to keep Bethlehem crowded, make sure Mary and Joseph had baby Jesus in the stable, lay asleep in the manger for the Shepard's to see and the wisemen to warn as they brought their gifts that they must hide baby Jesus because King Herod is looking to kill him. Once that is said and done, and they "fixed everything" to immediately come back to 1988. The world will once again be as they remembered it. So they did as Chris said. Everything was back to normal in Bethlehem and when they got back home, their house and family was all there. They were so happy. They destroyed the time machine. Their parents said ok, come on. It's time for church. They gave their parents no problem, got ready and appreciated church and God"s way of doing things so much more than before. They were thankful. As they left church, a Jolly Santa Claus rang his bell in the street and shouted ho, ho, hi, merry Christmas!! He looked at the children leaving church smiled and said thank you for being such good girls and boys! The boy who built the time machine looked at Santa Claus and said, " Chris?" Santa winked back and said ,"Ho, ho, ho. Why yes. Chris Kringle it is!" Santa gave a thumbs up and never again did the children ever have a desire to go back in time to change anything. The end.

this is so wonderful and authentic, in the sense of what it's like to be in a great music scene where people who are about to get some (national?) recognition and success are still yo' folks, from shows and parties all around town. A lot of people out there know what I mean. Plus, Chris Cornell is like younger than he was in the "Hands All Over" video, and that awkwardness reminds me of being 20 years old, at parties with people who I only KINDA knew, but were willing to get to know better once the booze started flowing! Still miss MLBone, and there isn't one day of any year that I can't contentedly listen to "This is Shangr-la", start singing along and then realize I can't put the album down. @@y_0886 Nope. They met each other and hung out. Saying Ian was a huge influence music-wise is a massive stretch, it's more like Ian saw the hints that these guys were going to be the next big thing and so he clung on to them trying to stay relevant. Andrew was fully aware that's what Ian was trying to do, but he didn't really mind. After all Ian was one more rockstar for Andy to have his picture taken with, cementing Andy's legendariness. It was a mutually beneficial relationship and I don't think Andy would appreciate people acting as if Ian helped create Andy in any way. Thanks for uploading this! Had saved this video to a playlist from another channel and it disappeared (maybe it was this channel??) I’ve always wondered who originally shot and posted this footage. Anyone know?? Either way, I’m so glad it exists and that we can watch and remember what that time was like. 💗
