Yup, every child, adolescent, and young man or girl who likes basketball and has a basketball and hoop, but is playing by themselves… lol.. That was me when I was young.
the only part i did not get was that i vaguely remember that laettner was perfect in field goals that game.. so how come chris farley was missing shots but whatever... maybe that was the joke
Chris actually was a decent basketball player. I played in the same intramural basketball league at Marquette in 1982-1983. He had a a lot of energy and a good baseline jump shot.
You can see it even in this video. Doesn't surprise me at all that he would be pretty good. That was the amazing thing about Matt - how he was fat and yet still so athletic and coordinated. That's how he made his falls so damn comedic - he could fall just the way he wanted to in order to make himself look pathetically uncoordinated. Super unique human.
For years to come, just as I am now, people are going to randomly find this and think two things: 1. How have I never seen this? 2. God damn I miss Chris Farley.
This video was posted 17 years ago!?! Seriously awesome video! I'm almost 49 and Chris Farley was a god in my world. Nobody ever filled Farley's shoes...not even close.
ESPN did a horrible job of promoting this commercial. This is completely hilarious. I watched it 2wice in a row, laughed even headed the 2nd viewing. Chris was great. R.I.P..
It always amazes me how quick and agile Farley was for being such a big man. He really was quite the athlete in a lot of ways. Watch a lot of his physical comedy and he never looked awkward or completely out of shape. His movements were very fluid and graceful despite the weight.
Yup , very true ,Trey..I think he was pretty good football player in Chicago area in high school..All the pent-emotion and outlandish antics, lead you to believe he was quick and aggressive
Except when he wanted to look awkward as he ran or fell - pure genius. I saw in the comment section of another video someone say they played basketball with him in high school and he was actually pretty good and that didn't surprise me in the least for exactly the reasons you gave.
I was in high school and starting to really appreciate NCAA sports, when this aired. I remember seeing this a handful of times and never forgetting it and missing it every season. Classic Farley sketch, but for some reason this commercial spoke volume to me about the intensity, rankings, mascots, the rivalry's, the band, and everything I enjoyed about college sports. Thank you, Chris! We miss you!
man oh man am I the only one who laughs hysterically during Chris Farley and then tear up after it’s over. Why does it feel like we all knew em? Just saw a couple of his movies when I was little yet miss him all the time for some reason.
Chris Farley was undoubtedly my favorite comedian/actor. It's a shame he had to die so young, but I guess you could say the candle that burns twice as bright burns half as long. RIP Chris Farley
i rember being 8 and seeing the headline he was dead on a newspaper and being so bummed out. i can honestly say i miss chris farley, i dont think ive ever heard a bad thing about him, its a fucking shame he didnt realize how much people loved and appreciated him.
Wow , Chris was really the man… I hate that society has a strange way of making people feel like they’re never enough. Chris , you were the man . I wish you knew .
You can, but he won't be very much fun. No conversation, and you'll have to tie some strings to his bones to make him move around a bit. Could still be comforting to you to have him back, idk
I was actually at this game - I can't believe this is the first time I've seen this video. And yes, that is EXACTLY how it happened. Oh, screw Duke by the way.
it was only a moment Laetner fizzled in the nba - 12 points per game for the third first round draft pick lol. He was picked for the dream team over Shaq also
Thanks RU-vid for the nostalgic throwback. They dont make em like they used too man.. Chris rip 🙏 man but know you're in a better place.. the victim crying pansies in today's society couldn't handle your brilliant comedy and appreciate what you brought into the world. Hope you are livin it up, wherever you are!
