Even if it weren't axed, Chris is better than that cheap imitation. He's actually respected as a car guy and should, imo, respect himself and leave it well alone.
Don't know what you're moaning about. They already do it on the top gear RU-vid channel. Top gear is more than a TV show now, it's a brand. They run a magazine, who's videos you see on RU-vid with Jack Rix and the others. They run Chris Harris drives, which is the crew from Chris Harris On Cars that produces videos under the Top Gear umbrella. They've licenced the brand to other countries like Top Gear America.
Nowadays finally bought my first GT3, which is gen 991.2... And Chris, have to tell you - your Chris Harris on Cars channel was absolutely game changer for me. Your review of facelifted 991 GT3 there, it is simply THE ART! Thank you so much, and yes, bring it back to the fullest. You're the one!!!
I have the MR magic dampers and suspension kit on my 997 GT3. It’s true, it completely ruins the car for the road, but it is incredible at trackdays. These are the guys to go to if you really want a no-compromise trackday tool that is allowed to transport itself there via the public highway. Also budget for a stronger phone holder.
Chris is a phenomenal driver but this is massively within both his limits and the limits of a slammed geo-d GT3 - around brands indy, which is basically a kart track where he’s barely scraping into fourth gear
Was going to say the exact thing, the right hander dip corner make your brain malfunction! Rollercoaster is the correct word for this track, impressive he can still talk calmly😮
As a sidenote.....I have skateboarded around the GP circuit section of Brands Hatch (when only the indy circuit was open) and I can't think of many people that have and can claim that 😁 My late father was a member of the BRSCC and worked his way up to a chief safety observer. I didn't even tell him this when he was alive 😊🙏♥️
A decadent, well-balanced and high class review for us commoners :) Cheers for the wonderful content as always, Chris and team. Good to see you back in the spotlight. I’ve always enjoyed your fair and spirited content
Been watching you for many many years, Chris. This is by far my favorite channel to watch. The podcast' are excellent and the content here is second to none. Good job.
Harris is the best, smartest and most immediate car journalist in todays world. You cant beat the honest opinion of real automotive journalists. Rubystone? The colour is Hot Pink originally sported on the 1973 Raleigh 5-Speed Chopper.
Yes Chris Harris is great… but props to the people in the background making this video possible! ❤ to us it’s 7mins …but I know this was more than a days work!
As these cars get faster every generation, 4 seconds on the Nordschleife might sound not that much, but the further we push the limits of a certain platform, those marginal gains are still quite impressive in my opinion. those last few seconds might be just as hard as the previous leaps of 10s or 20s of seconds
Walter Rohrl may be able to shave 4 seconds off a lap of the 'Ring but most owners aren't capable of extracting anywhere near 100% of a standard GT3's performance. Most GT3 owners would be able to find a huge chunk of time with some good tuition which would cost rather less than the cost of this pack. Its for owners with very deep pockets who want paddock bragging rights.
I must say, I absolutely love the 992. I don’t know how I didn’t really notice it when it first came out, but I can’t get enough of this car. I even was able to see one up close at a local dealer recently (not this version obviously). As cool as wings, inlets, camber, and such are; it seems like it would make this car a bit more impractical unless it’s purely for racing. I think I’ll always love the 992 with the Touring Package the most, but I can’t deny how impressive this is. And I’m a bit of a sucker for turbofans on wheels. However, I don’t know if I’ve ever seen it on just the back wheels before, mostly the front or all around. Either way, love it, and pretty interesting color on this particular one.
@@CandyMan2001 Yeah yeah... Cool down, you clown! The Lotus Exige is so much slower compared to the GT3 from Manthey, which is literally a 911 GT3 Cup version for the road... It's more like a racecar! There's no chance for the Lotus Exige to being quicker! And shut up dude, because this isn't your problem anyway!
Glad you are (still) brave enough to say when things are not worth it. 4 seconds at the ring is not much considering its a 7 minute lap. Too bad you couldn't A/B them on the Indy loop at Brands Hatch. Wonder what the gain would be there.
Wait Manthey is now owned by Porsche? So they will deliberately handicapped the GT3 manthey edition in order not to be faster than the official GT3RS then. RIP manthey. It was awesome while it lasted.
You understood it quite wrong sadly. A handling kit wont make the gt3 as fast as a gt3 rs, no matter what they do. Its always abiut enhancing the current car without making it Look like a cheap overdone bodykit. Its like Porsche who is owned by VW, they are still independent car makers to a certain degree the same as with manthey and porsche...
@@janneshildebrandt1 I think you got it terribly wrong there..if you’re a car guys..then we all know Porsche OWNs the Volkswagen group..not the other way round…for god sake..can’t believe some people still get it the other way round..when it’s a common sense that Porsche was in hold of the Volkswagen AG group in nearly the first place… Mate..Porsche SE is the holding company which is owned by the Porsche family(esp. Porsche &Pieche) They own the whole Volkswagen group by that. Yes..Porsche owns Lamborhini. PORSCHE owns Bugatti..Audi, Ducati, Bentley and so on… yes the Porsche also was put in along with the other brand. The Porsche AG is under the VW group. But the whole VW group is then controlled under the Porsche company.I guess some people got fooled by the Porsche VW M&A scandal 😂😂it was just a fight between the two grandsons of Porsche fighting over the whole control of the VW group. They’re both Porsche anyway lol
@@jskim8418 chill buddy i only wanted to make clear that Manthey is still almost completly independent from Porsche and as an example i couldve used something different like Bugatti has nothing to with the parts used in Audi for example.
Quite the opposite. Porsche used the time of a GT2 RS with Manthey Racing package to claim to the fastest production time on the Ring, that is until the Mercedes One took that over. They consider Manthey and their products as Porsche and enhancements. They aren't competing against them, but with working them. Think AMG and Mercedes, except Manthey has more independence.
@@janneshildebrandt1 Manthey can be faster, they used the GT2 RS with Manthey package to claim the fastest production car record at the ring. Porsche has no problems having a Manthey tuned car faster than a stock RS product.
Given that you need to be spending over £400,000 in the last 2years on non RS products, just to be on the list. It is cheaper to go for this at £10k for wheels or £60k and it being dog dick pink than buying your Mrs a Taycan every 6 months.
Chris - unless something has changed the coil overs are from KW and the track brake pads can be picked up anywhere (lots to choose from), the race alignment and drop is nothing and can be done by any Porsche familiar race workshop. The pads and coil overs can be had for $US 12k. The rear wing up grade would be difficult to achieve and its clear the wing is real design, however you are probably talking about an additional 25% more downforce at maybe 250kmh. In other words save your money, do the KWs and pads, do a track alignment and drop and spend a truck load on coaching, tires and track time. You'll become a better drive and have more fun on the journey. Unfortunately, these days, too many Porsche owners think the car makes the driver rather than the driver makes the car. The 992 GT division cars are very accomplished but something has also been lost, go drive a GT4 RS (at the end of the day its really a GT division 981) or a 991.2 GT3 RS (which provided the template for the 992 GT3) and you'll get my point.
I've just sent my gt3 touring to manthey we are going to create the ultimate fast tourer, we have an aerodynamic roof box that provides downforce being made by Williams advanced engineering.
It's still almost 10 times cheaper than a genuine 993 GT2. One was sold for 2.5 million pounds in 2016. LOL. And BTW this was the fastest production car on Nurburgring until Mercedes AMG One took the title. Pretty special car.
Porsche is even better at profit margins than building cars, and obviously they make very good cars... Most pertinent though is every video by Chris is very, very good.
My 4 year old daughter is called Ruby. Was watching this and she happened to peak at my laptop and go "pink car!" She was even more buzzed when I told her the name of the colour. Think I need to buy a Pink GT3 when I win the lotto tonight.
Only some of the Porsche Racecars are "Made in Flacht". No road legal cars are made there. The 992 GT3 is made in Zuffenhausen. I was there and saw it.
Love anything Chris Harris. Gold standard. The car however: make an already compromised road car even more so, to gain 4.2s over a 21km lap. For only £51k… so the at 2km Brands, you’re .4s quicker. Nice to see Porsche have taken over Manthey and immediately added track times to their hideously expensive options list🤣 I have to say, I think the MR package would’ve been more suited to the RS. But I suppose the Weissach pack already fills that gap.
"... hideously expensive options list"... Well, finally it's worth every penny, you envy British clown!🤣🤣 Question: Why can't we hear your complaints about stupidly expensive McLarens, Lamborghinis and Ferraris, which would be all much slower on a track, than such a 992 GT3 from Manthey...??!! Shut up, dude! The prize for the 911 GT3 Manthey 992 is totally justified! The Porsche 911 GT3 with or without Manthey performance kit is an incredibly fast sports car on the track, built of the highest quality standards. You have to accept this, dude! At least Porsche has figured it out, that shitty unrealiable "supercar"crap from McLaren for example are just totally opverprized vehicles and that PORSCHE has the right/ is in the position of charging much more money for their amazing GT car products like 911 GT3, GT3 Touring, GT3 RS, which are already legendary vehicles! Please dude, just shut the fuck up with your silly complaints about a "too expensive Porsche options list", because at the end these prizes are still much lower than the crazy amount of money you have to pay for a shitty unreliable McLaren crap vehicle, dude! "Already compromise" my ass, you British clown! 🤣🤣 PORSCHE forever!
So it costs a Cayman to upgrade your GT3. That is quite a foreign game to me and my thin wallet, but for some this is a solution. Love the video as always guys.
the handling package for the handling version of a crazy performance sportscar. Porsche knows how to extract every penny their self conscious owners got. If the RS barely makes any difference for tracks under 1:30 mins, imagine this
@@henryhealy Agreed but as Chris mentioned it’s aimed at people who have a 992 GT3 but can’t get a RS but want the extra performance. Personally a standard 992 would be enough for most and I would keep the money instead.
It's not about what you'd buy... Some people simply just can't get allocation for the RS also the RS has a much more aggressive ride which some wouldn't prefer.
I've been in love with Rubystone (star) ever since I first saw it but I don't know that teal on the other car; what's that colour called? It's pretty awesome too. Thanks in advance.
Just a thought, but if its so stiff it would be totally useless (so its basically a track only car) why not just save a huge chunk of cash and buy a standard 992 Cup Car?
To be fair Manthey actually say that the laptime improvement on an amateur racer on the ring would be far greater - 15sec - bc the car is just easier to drive
For 60k you can get a decent Norma M20-FC that`s at least 20 seconds a lap faster than any of these GT3`s and probably some cash left for a trailer too. Or a 997 GT3 Cup, if you`re into Porsche`s and not a big fan of prototypes. That`s only 10 seconds a lap faster, on slicks. Just a thought:)
Neither could I, so I looked 4,19s. Also very stupid to me the fact that stock gt3 with race alignment and slicks would be very close if not faster than RS, for a tenth of cost.
@@stantrisinhro and you can buy a second hand open wheeler for the price of a new honda civic, when you have 911 gt3 money I'm not sure the price matters to you so much.
I want to see Harris take a 911 GTS that has been tuned by Litchfield and put it up against a GT3 touring. I want to see if that combination is a better, more usable road car than a touring.
Cool, though if I couldn't get an allocation for a GT3RS I'd buy a GT4RS and send it to DeMan Motorsport for their 4.5l upgrade. That way I could go blindingly fast and still drive my car on the road
@@benm.3994 I could have bought a 6 month old example in desirable arctic grey, fully optioned (ie: with Weissach and Club sport packages, PCCB, magnesium wheels, lift system, Chrono, Bose etc) 4 weeks ago from my local Porsche used car dealer
