Yes, indeed, this is Helena Christensen in this famous video, one of the supermodels of the time with her memorable dark hair and very light colored eyes. Herb Ritts, who filmed this, created many of his most famous photographs of both men (often wearing a white undershirt) and women on beaches, with sand on their skin, with the waves and the sky as the background--a very recognizable style. Chris Isaak looks delightful in this video, and that voice of his crying to the moon like a hurt animal just pulls at the heartstrings. By 4:10, you can see in her character's eyes how her mood has changed to less interested.

Most people want reactors to see this video because it's hot and steamy. I always felt that it is so much more than that. When you watch him singing his heart out to her and she seems bored out of her mind, biting her nails, she won't make eye contact, those things are very intentional to convey the message of the lyrics and it works beautifully. That last shot where they seem like such a happy couple but he's singing, "nobody loves no one," I think that just symbolizes how jaded he is by the loss of that relationship. BTW, the girl is one of the top supermodels of the 90s, Helena Christiansen.

This song was a hit when I was enduring one of my life's most painful heartbreaks. I felt lured into the romance, then was ditched unceremoniously shortly after an intense night together (well, she was married, but whatever). Marital status aside, that only made it worse for me since I approached the relationship very cautiously and somewhat reluctantly, yet I was so powerfully drawn to her that I just tumbled into it, against my better judgment, and when she broke it off suddenly, the pain was so excruciating and I endured it alone, given the illicit nature of the brief, but intense relationship. I couldn't get enough of this song back then because it so spoke to me.

You can tell about half way thru the video were she starts to turn away and tune him out. She is still there physically but has moved on mentally and emotionally. She is playing the part for now but is truly moving on and away. To me the chorus is his inner voice telling him she is going to hurt him and then he talks back saying how he wants to fall in love. It is almost as if he is trying to silence his inner voice of caution and reason. Loved your reactions AGAIN just as in the live version.

This video was filmed in Hawaii ( The Big Island) at Hawai'i Volcans National Park. The black sand beach you see is now under lava and the clouds you see in the background are not actually clouds but the steam that billows up when the lava hits the ocean. We used to camp down there in the early 90's.

Chris Issak is saying that everybody falls hard into love with SOMEONE at some point in their lives..... and often that intense love is not RETURNED by the person they are so deeply in love with.

I remember when this video first came out. It was a bid deal because it was so sexualized and at the time there really weren't many main stream videos like that. That I can recall, at least. I just remember that there was a lot of buzz about the video itself and the song sometimes got overlooked by people.
