Helena Christensen is the model in that video and she is to this day one of the most stunningly beautiful people I've ever seen. On a different note, been loving your channel. Respect
Speaking of haunting. I just recommended The killing moon by Echo and the bunnymen because it has a similar haunting mellow sound. Ever heard it? It's in the movie Donnie Darko. They also did the cover of The Doors song People are strange that's in the movie The lost boys.
Don't take this the wrong way, but as much as I love Chris Isaak, and his music, I still laugh when I think about Phoebe on "Friends" asking him if he could "sing like a man?"
People were requesting the live version? huh... I've always thought a song should be heard as the album version first, so you know what it's really supposed to sound like. Then you get a great live version and know how good the performance is. I'm sure the people requesting live songs know the original version very well and just aren't thinking about how you only get one first impression.
I don't want to sound too piggish, but this is what's called a "panty dropper". I don't think I've ever met anyone who would try to deny how great that song is. Chris Isaak became an instant star and heart throb for millions with this one song. He's really a funny, engaging dude too. Impossible not to like.
The sustained note is somewhat of his signature mark. He does it a most of his songs at some point usually towards the end of a song. Other songs of his worth checking out are... You Owe Me Some Kind Of Love, Dancin', Blue Hotel, Baby Did A Bad Thing.
Chris is a class act. Seen him live two times in a small venue and he´s an amazing singer and entertainer. He has a broad repertoire, but my favourite album is San Fransisco Days, it´s a masterpiece. He also is one of the few that can cover Elvis in a decent way. Thanks for a great reaction! 🙂
Hi! Greetings from Russia to you! It's a wonderful song, they will sing it again and again. There are many nice Wicked games covers, but one of the best is Diana Ankudinova cover. She has one of the rarest female voices in the world and no doubt you will Can't help falling in love with her 😃
The sparkly, wavery guitar, the deceptively soothing vocals - all leading to a heart-crushing, desolate ending: "nobody loves no one". Aaaaugh just kills me every time 😭 (& indeed, the studio production of it is phenomenal.)
From an old guy I must say I liked your reaction and how you saw and heard the music. ON another note Chris has a very nice catalogue of music , not to mention he is exceptional live as you can tell here. Great job young man and continued success. Stay safe and much love to you and yours. Peace!
He is generally really good but he is definitely wicked good on this. I liked how in your reaction you noticed a ton of stuff that was going on and called it out. Yeah, it's hard not to really love this. His popularity around this time led to him being a secondary character and almost a primary character in one movie, and he was always really good in those roles.
There is a studio version of this song but let me warn you about the video, it is HOT. This song came out when I was a teenager and when the video came out, it was insane. I became a huge Chris Isaak fan and still am. He has so many great songs that you should listen to - I Wonder, San Francisco Days, Only the Lonely, Speak of the Devil and MANY others.
I will echo many other comments. The official video is also fantastic. In addition, there are also a ton of top notch covers of this song; Diana Ankudinova, Tenacious D, Lusiant, Violet Orlandi, among others. A testament to how great of a song this is at its core.
@@robertreichle1just recently actually. It’s not the whole song but it is really good. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-QLWkl5YpiD0.htmlsi=-6ZhGqzwLpBDPZGG
Please the official Video!!!!! And recently the winner of the Voice Gina Miles did a cover of this. As a female version I was so impressed! So good. But nothing like Chris’s voice on this!!!!! Video is stunning. ❤
@@robertreichle1the Tenacious D cover of it is fabulous, theres one done with an acoustic guitar backup, and he bends the guitar neck to get the twangy sound, no whammy bar. Very choice. Not easy to do effectively.
Chris Isaak was born and raised in Stockton. But he moved to my hometown San Francisco 🌉. He was working on music 🎶 and went surfing 🏄♂ in his spare time. I am not sure if I ever met him. 🤔 He often played in the BAMMIES (Bay Area Music Awards) in the 1980s before this song blew up! 😃 He lists the late Roy Orbison, RIP, as an influence. 😎 And RIP James Wilsey, lead guitar in the studio recording and on touring guitar here. Written by Chris Isaak. This song is so seductive! 🤯 when he sang this in Australia 🇦🇺 he caused TV 📺 journalist Melissa Doyle to faint! L 🤣 L Music video 📹 Great. But model Helena Christensen was being a beach ⛱Ughh 😖. Fast forward to now. HC looks tired 😫 and old 👵. Chris Isaak looks in shape 💪 Surfing 🏄♂ does him great 👍 Suggested song 🎵 Chris Isaak sings San Francisco Days.
LMAO!!!! How many times have you heard someone say “I’ve never felt this way about anyone”, and then everything went to S#%T?!!!!! This song’ll PREACH!!!!
For me studio versions almost always have the best the artist can bring, while the live versions almost always have more energy. This is a great song regardless of version. Great reaction !
It's great that there's that line where the way he sings it, you don't always really know if he's saying "I WANT to fall in love with you" or "I DON'T want to fall in love with you." You got two choices for the studio version (on RU-vid anyway). There's the original music video from back in 1991 with Chris rolling around on the beach with supermodel Helena Christensen: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-dlJew-Dw87I.html (have a cold shower or a hot date waiting for you if you go with this one...), and then there's just the audio version here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-oadhHk2xs6c.html Other songs by him you should consider are Baby Did A Bad, Bad, Thing (very bluesy), and almost anything off his Baja Sessions album (very low key but his voice is the star). Closer to Christmas, you could do "Got to be Good" which is kind of old school New Orleans Jazz feel.
I absolutely loved this song when it came out. It was on the radio a lot. However much I love this, I still love Diana Ankudinova’s live version when she was 15 on “You are Super”. I’ve never heard a voice like hers before. She’s a true dramatic contralto with polyphonic and subharmonic abilities. She does an amazing job on this absolutely beautiful song. The music video version is clearer but this is something I heard everywhere I went when it came out and brings so many great memories. Much love and appreciation from California ❤️🍀🌈🙏🏻😇❣️
This was Chris Isaak's 1-hit wonder. Everyone was playing this song because it was unusual haunting emotional beautiful. And I say that as a Stones-Zeppelin-Metallica fan. I think it's the Neil Young in me. In any case, I'll always play this song once in a while. It resonates with emotions that need occasional revival and brings relief.
As much as I hate the One-Hit wonder designation (they have one more hit than most of us will ever have), he had many more charting songs: Blue Hotel, Baby did a Bad Bad Thing, and Somebody’s Crying, just to name a few. But ultimately, even if this was his only hit, it was released in 1989 and we are still talking about it today. It’s a top tier jam….
Love your reactions to Great Music👊 The Guitar sounds Awesome. Another song with Awesome Guitar is "Road to Hell" by Chris Rea and Anything by Dire Straits (Beautiful Guitar Sounds) 👍
Damn you've made memories resurface like Luke asking old Ben if he knows Obi-Wan Kenobi.... and here I am singing this once more. And not badly, if I dare say so. I really love the studio version better. It's slower, the guitar vibrato is not of this world, it doesn't sound so country (I'm French and Chris Isaak was a GOD in the 90's here), and his final aaaah is twice as long! Old Ben clip: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-6OF5wKVA6k4.html
It completely escapes me why somebody would recommend this live version over the studio version. To me, there's no comparison. Not that this is horrible, but in general, live versions pale in comparison to studio versions. Of course, there are exceptions to this rule, but they are few and far between. Do yourself a favor and check out the studio version. As a reactor, I suggest always checking out the studio version of a song first. Then, when you hear the live version you have a frame of reference to compare to. Keep up the good work!
I loved this song when it came out in the 1990's. BTW you need to listen to "3 Degrees, When will I see you again". 3 gorgeous ladies singing their hearts out. I'm sure you'll love it. From the 1970's.
If you want to check out more vintage unplugged performances, you should check out Nirvana’s cover of David Bowie the Man who sold the world from there unplugged episode, and Layla from Eric Clapton during his unplugged episode
Studio version and this live performance are identical as far musicianship and musicality i.e. both are excellent. The studio version might have a slightly slower tempo.
Song Suggestions: Whitesnake - Still Of The Night (amazing guitar solo), Here I Go Again, Is This Love ZZ Top - Sleeping Bag, Stages, Rough Boy, Gimme All Your Lovin', Sharp Dressed Man, Legs The B-52s - Roam, Love Shack Europe - The Final Countdown, Cherokee Dream Academy - Life In A Northern Town Poco - Call It Love Robert Palmer - Every Kinda People, Simply Irresistible, Addicted To Love, I Didn't Mean To Turn You On, Bad Case Of Loving You
This is a great performance they performed it perfectly. But it sounds even better with all the studio magic. You get more of a cowboy out-on-the-range vibe. But, the video shows Chris Isaak and a very beautiful lady in a very sexual scene on the beach.
🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦 Great reaction again 👍🏻 👏 👌 May I suggest another great song by Joe Bonamassa with Jimmy Barnes Live studio . Song is 🎵Stone Cold 🎵 You gonna love this masterpiece too Keep the good work my friend ✌️ 👍🏻 👏 👌
its one of those rare songs different that comes along every now and then, special and fresh that has that triple xxx factor, that never sounds tired and worn out, he has a couple of numbers like that, that leaves a lasting Impression on on your soul brother they just make the hair on the back of your neck stand up for sure try blue hotel
@@marcieharreld286 Most studio versions people refer to are the actual recording of the song in the recording studio where the bands usually record the instruments separately to control bleed over from the other instruments. This live with no audience video looks like a sound check before they let fans in to the show so yes technically its a studio version just not the studio recording most people refer to when they say "the studio version".
This one makes me swoon. LOL glad I'm sitting down to listen to Chris Isaak. He is amazing. Love this song. The one video is not so good, the visuals was made to really attract men to watch and listen to it, too sexy, and doesn't nothing for this old lady. hahahaha I bet you will love it though. You also might like his, Bad bad Leroy Brown. Baby did a bad bad thing. So many great songs. He is also a damn good actor.
Video was shot by famous photog at the time - Ritter I believe - video looks like an extended Calvin Klein Ad - and very well done - sensual, with of course one of the supermodels at the time - her name escapes me.....
