For those who are curious, here is a slightly higher quality recording of the "ghost beats" presentation I did for the 2020 Colorado Modular Synth Fest (CMSF). The basic technique is taking two rhythm patterns - one that is the skeletal framework you want to always hear, and one with beats appearing and disappearing using a probability skipper - and using a logic module to blend them together.

As a drummer and a modular synthesist, I am finding this to be an incredibly inspiring video. I think that this formula is the closest thing I have been able to replicate the "real drummer" feel. So I just looked and found that my module is actually a AND,NAND, and XOR. The video you linked covered AND which was awesome. Do you happen to have anything on NAND/XOR?

@@slowscape not yet. But, I also don't take the approach of "I have this module...what can I do with it?" - instead I take the approach of "I want to do this thing - which module can make this happen?" :-)

Using Intellijel Steppy gate sequencer would be an easier way of getting the probability control you want.

What's that keyboard-thingy in the bottom middle? A quantizer? Looking for a quantizer with many inputs and outputs, not just 1 or 2.

The keyboard thingy is a Doepfer A-173 Micro Keyboard that I use for transpositions, re-tuning Rings, etc. The Ornament & Crime (O_C) module has a quad quantizer algorithm in it: ornament-and-cri.me/user-manual-v1_3/#anchor-quantermain
