Neil literally carried the whole team on his back for well over a decade, stepping up against anyone trying to intimidate the senators and also putting up relatively decent numbers. Nice to see a corporation actually acknowledging his sacrifices, courage and loyalty.
An absolute Senators Legend! This guy was a joy to watch every time he played. Those years in the late 00’s we’re some of the best Sens games to watch. Seing Philly with Alfie brought me down memory lane.
Being a 46 years old Montréal fan, I so remember that bullet head of Chris Neil. Saying to myself, oh *&%% here's Neil. He had the Tyson ablities mixed with the Robinson courage. Like a Francis Bouillon but bigger...
My favourite player for 15 years. Have a hat hanging in the game room autographed when i was a kid, heart and soul dude who played the game the right way
He was my favorite since I came here in Canada and first ever game that I watched..I said to my husband I really like him he is a warrior for the team..my husband and his relatives laugh at me because they think he is not that good player..I dont know I enjoyed watching him everytime he had fight😅 up to now Ottawa still my team...❤❤❤
Dear Chris and family. Your number Retirement and further achievements are outstanding achievements. God Bless you and family. Sincerely, Rev. Don and Mrs. Judy Prince
A legend that deserves to have his number retired along with Phillips, Finigan and Alfie. Congrats on a well deserve honor. Only Sens fan understand the "WHY" this is being done and why his number belong in the rafters. Congrats Neil, you deserve this......
I remember our enforcer before him was Andre Roy…also a fan favourite at the time. So many Sens fans were upset about the Sens keeping Neil over Roy since Neil was pretty much unknown at that point. Fast forward nearly 2o years later. Best decision ever. Also, I remember the NYR offering Neil a contract and as a courtesy, asked the Sens to match it…not beat it…match it. We all know the Sens answer to that. I did a RU-vid video on all time greats as an Ottawa Senator and I could only pick 12 forwards but Neil definitely made that team. I also mentioned back then that number 25 should be retire because no player would dare to wear #25. I keep hearing #41 should be next…that would be a shame and a slap in the face to Neil, Phillips, and Alfredsson to put Anderson up there. During his time with the Sens, the Sens were mediocre with a couple good seasons but that’s argument for another time. Congratulations Chris Neil, not sure there will ever beloved Ottawa Senator like you again but you have your rightful place at the CTC in Senators history. When (if) the Sens ever move downtown, the Sens should give the penalty box at CTC to Chris Neil…in fact, they should take it out now and put a new one in.
Our goon for 17 years. Our barn, Our rafters. Fans of one franchise, dont give a fuck what fans of another franchise say, think or feel about who we choose to honor.
