Absolutely. I've watched basketball for a few decades and that performance was really special. It wasn't just an amazing scoring performance, but it was what kept them from going back to Utah for a game 6 after Donovan outscored the entire Rocket's team in the 3rd quarter.
Kent Alicous remember his game 1 against OKC one year with The clippers? 12-14, 8-9 3s for 34 points in a huge win to start the series. I think they ended up going up 2-0 and losing 4-2:/ but still I think that might have been the best I’ve seen Cp3 play even tho he was getting some crazy 40 point double double. This his only career 40 in the playoffs
This team was so much fun to watch. 65 win season. 2 17 game winning streaks. #1 seed. Competed with the Warriors. They wouldve been Champs if CP3 wasn't injured. They had the momentum and I have no doubt in my mind they wouldve won game 6 and beat the Cavs in the Finals. I know its just a game but it makes me sad because of what couldve been.
facts, i hope everyone that hates harden n cp3 for not having a ring could see this comment. Rockets were the best team in the league that year. Harden was in his prime then. They woulda beat warriors in 6 n Cavs in 4-5 fuhso n Harden FMVP. As a harden & rockets fan, that series will haunt me for the rest of my life lol.

Yup and it was all because of James Harden and Darryl Morey. Darryl Morey is James Hardens puppet. In Houston, everybody bowed to James. Anything James wanted, he got it with no questions asked. James wanted to get rid of Dwight...Dwight got traded. James wanted a coach that wouldn't force him to play defense and let him iso one on one anytime he wanted, so they got him Mike Dantoni, James after just 2 seasons with cp3 wanted to get rid of Paul, felt like cp3 took the ball out of his hands too much, therefore causing the relationship soured so cp3 got traded. James wanted Russ, James got Russ. James wanted to leave Houston after he made the mistake of forcing the gm to trade Paul and seeing that he couldn't win with Russ, so James got traded. See where this has gone? Noticed how many times I said "JAMES WANTED" whatever tf that man wanted he got! I'm all for player empowerment but he had too much damn power and literally ruined a whole franchise and the chance of winning a ring because of his selfishness. He wants things HIS way and if he can't get it HISway then he's bailing. It's like a spoiled kid who's parents never told him "NO" Darryl Morey thinks he's God and has even said "James Harden is better than Michael Jordan" he kisses James' feet. 32 years old and Paul's first conference final. Glad he was able to go while in his veteran prime years. Hopefully all the teams stay healthy so we can get some good games.
That was one of the best performances I've ever seen. Wasn't sure he was capable of missing a shot until he ran that layup, the 3-pointer he banked before that was a silly shot to take, but it went in because everything was. Good luck to Houston in the WCF, hopefully both teams stay healthy and are able to have a competitive series.

I'm a Jazz fan and I'm happy for Chris Paul, I'd imagine when you get to 32 years old you start to wonder if it is going to happen for you (Stockton and Malone were still wondering that until they were 40). Chris Paul really performed well in answer to Donovan's 3rd quarter and kept the Rockets from going back to Utah for a game 6. Without Rubio, it seemed like the Jazz just couldn't quite play defense to the high standards the playoffs demand and Rockets were a talented enough team to recognize and exploit that as they should. The better team won the series and I wish them well.

Crazy thing is, Paul fit in perfectly with Dantoni's offense. And all of the pieces around him were absolutely perfect for him. I'm gonna blame Harden for that one. If Paul had a different two guard/small forward at the time, someone like even a Bradley Beal, they would have won a chip. Sucks he got the injury bug at the worst time. They needed his leadership in that game 7

CP got hurt but he didn't make up that entire team. They had some real players on their roster at the time. 100% James Harden's fault for his inevitable collapse in the post season. Without Chris the Rockets wouldn't have made it out of the first round.
Yeah but Harden is toxic and didn't want CP3 anymore. CP3 is a true leader and competitor. He instantly makes his team better. IMO the suns will be contenders because he will bring leadership and hes still good even tho he's older now.
I don’t necessarily agree. Yes Paul was great on the rockets but he really wasn’t the best fit for Harden. They already had harden as the primary ball handler, and Paul role was essentially to lead the 2nd unit. That where most of his highlights came, when harden was on the bench or resting in game, almost mid court, in order to create a mini 4 on 4 with paul and the rest of the team. You want your 2 best player to be able to feed of themselves, and you really rarely saw Paul assist harden or vice versa. What the rockets needed was a great scorer to pair with harden. Thats what they try to do with russ. It actually worked very well during the regular season, not so much during the playoff.

Pimp21ULike don’t blame it on Doc. 2014 series against the Thunder was extremely unfortunate, the series was decided by refs. If CP3 didn’t miss the first 2 games in 2015 against the Rockets I’m convinced they wouldn’t have split the 1st 2 games in Houston, they would’ve won both and went back to LAC up 2-0 where they would’ve completed a sweep. LAC got BADLY hurt in the 2016 and 2017 playoffs.
He could probably manage that fairly easily though his efficiency might suffer, but he only averages about 5-6 minutes in playoff 4th's because his team has usually won by that time in the game. He had to drop 17 twice on Cleveland in the 4th to win the Finals in 2015. Also dropped 17 in OT, May 9th 2016 against the Trailblazers. In last year's playoffs, in 4th quarters where the lead/deficit was no greater than five points, he made 6/8 FG (including 3/5 3-pointers), 6/6 FT, and was 4/4 on last minute field goals. That gave him an EFG% of .938% vs. Pauls' .679% and Harden's .382% for the same post season. He takes smart shots and he wins games. This could be the year that Rockets take the title though, hopefully both teams are healthy and give the fans some entertainment and competition.

Favors was also injured, but was able to play. That is why we saw his minutes so limited these past few games. Maybe Westbrook's athleticism just did them in, keeping up with the pace that guy set. As a longtime Jazz fan, imagine watching the infamous Michael Jordan 'Flu Game', that guy could not be stopped (usually). I'm glad Harden played through his illness, but part of it just reminds me how you'd play on a sprained ankle in 90's NBA, Stockton did several times. That is why players like Stockton only missed 22 games in a _very_ physical 19 years of play and Karl Malone in his first 18 years missing 10 games, because they played through pretty much anything. Then Shaq and some other guys entered the league and you started seeing guys in suits on the sidelines instead of playing because their toe hurt, then Spurs resting their talent as it aged, all downhill from there.
Chris Paul probably actually is the best PG in today's NBA. I like his pure point guard mentality, but he will take the shot if it is the best decision. That is why out of former NBA players, Stockton is #9 on the True Shooting all timers of any position and the highest Points Accounted For of any player in history. If CP keeps it up, upon retirement he may force his way into the top 10 or top 5 whatever conversation of greatest point guards. Anyway, his court IQ reminded me of Stockton watching him play tonight, he was making the smart play and you step up when you need to in able for your team to get a win.
GSW will make your offense easier, so I'm sure stats will go up, but GSW will put up a lot more offense than the Jazz. Should be some high scoring games.
I have faith in cp3 but i dont in harden... Rockets need to stop play too many iso and harden needs to stop shooting a bunch of step back 3s. Houston needs to have body and ball movement to compete with the warriors , iso wont work... Hopefully they compete hard but i dont tink they will beat the warriors

GSW in 5. While they might allow Rockets more points than the injured Jazz did, GSW offense will end up too overwhelming for Rockets to overcome in the long term. Should be a potentially interesting, if dull, series to watch. A couple teams throwing up 3's. 90's basketball was so much more fun.

Will forever go down as one of the weakest moves in NBA History because he joined the team that beat him after being up 3-1 and choking the 3-1 lead to them just to make a path to his 1st Conference Finals Appearance easier and this is why he will never be better than Harden All Time because Harden didn't need to go and join the team that beat him just to make a deep Playoff run like you could've never imagined Harden getting Eliminated by the Blazers in 2014 then go and join them that Off-season just to make an easy route to a Conference Finals Appearance the next year 🤡
