I remember in 2018 first round of the playoffs they played Spurs. Being a Spurs fan I saw how good the defense was that season, the team had the 2nd best defensive rating that year too. But when playoffs reach when Spurs played them Warriors defense went up a whole tier higher than the Spurs.
@@SpeedHomeAttack Every1 knows how great the warriors were What they don't know is how they were so damn good, every1 just points to the starpower and amazing highlights but no1 points out to their great coaching and fundamentals That's what EJ Biller is talking about it Edit: THANKS FOR DA LIKES, and I just wanna mention that I said what I said as a warriors hater so there is no excuse to not give em props no matter how much you hate em
man a lot of people didn't appreciate the level of detail GSW had in switching and yoo that was key for them in beating most of the teams.. respect to CP3 mentioning this fact yoo
I think the Warrior's success this year will be based on their player's floor. Will James Wiseman be a high floor player, will Oubre improve, is Curry slightly worse, Draymond isn't the same, Klay is out and won't be the same and Wiggins might be a late bloomer.
yup. as a basketball nerd would have loved to witnessed him pairing up with Bron because it would have been a clinic watching 2 geniuses share the court
@@JM-44- Nah some people just cant afford the full games. People who live abroad have to pay a huge sum to watch the NBA in full. And have no other choice but just to settle with the highlights.
What you heard is the second thing the warriors did to change the game. The switching defense. To guard them you had to be able to switch. To score you had to be able to beat switching by going one on one.
@@Fanidrareg well no because any team of the east would just be 4-0 swept clean easy dub whoever won the west won the chip the wcf was basically the fianls
@Matthew Spurs EXACTLY. Dude everyone brings up 2019 like that changes anything 😂😂 I'm like are y'all stupid?? 2018 Rockets had them on the ropes and they had it. That had to be worst timed injury in history. If he could've helped them win just one more game and he would have, Houston could've handled Cleveland without him at least
@@From_Here_To_Here yup! 2019 rockets didn’t have Ariza & Luc (their 2 best defenders) Cp3 was banged up all year & wasn’t the same Harden turned into a mega ball hog (kinda had to since his team was injured for the majority of the season) They also lost Nene (a very good backup Center)
@@jmoney4220 yup! They didn’t have Ariza or Luc. Cp3 was banged up all year & wasn’t the same. Harden turned into a mega ball hog (because he had to, everyone was injured all year)
People fall in love with the Warriors offense easily but without a doubt the most underrated part of their 5 year run was rim protection. They were already a great shot blocking team with Bogut, 2nd in blocks from 2014-2016, but when they got KD it just became ridiculous. If KD, Dray, and Javale McGee were all on the court, it just seemed like they were stopping everything in the paint. 1st in blocks throughout the KD years and it wasnt even close. Then you got Klay and Iggy holding things down on the perimeter and damn what a run. Too bad it ended the way it did
Draymond Green...People who aren't fans of the game say he averages less than 10 points a game so he must be a scrub. Dude guards all 5 positions...and does it well.
Facts. Draymond doesn't need to score. He's the playmaker, ball handler, and anchor on defense. He's constantly screaming at his teammates to switch...people don't realize how valuable that is unless you actually play organized basketball. Knowing my guy is gunna call out the pick before I get blind sided. Me defending with confidence because my guy has the back covered if I get blown by.
the ironic thing is that next year, they had the roles reversed.. Houston was mostly healthy and KD got injured, Houston had game 6 at home, Curry was SCORELESS in the first half, and they still couldn't win and lost 4-2.
@@halyup ong bruh people keep saying kd carried like do people forget that Steph averaged 30 ppg and klay could average 24ppg and draymond could average 15ppg and be the best defender on the court and they got the best record in nba history
At the end of the day, Doc was right. He sees what Chris doesn’t see. Chris was right to a certain point, but you still need to move the ball. Quick pick and rolls, and roll hard, but Chris would hold on to it when he gets trapped. When teams switch, defenses usually makes mistakes by switching to the same man at the same time, hence the trap, he would have to pass it to Blake, where then Blake would need to make split second decisions, either a drive for a bucket, or kick it out for a 3, and so on and so on. It’s not easy, but it’s possible. That’s why GS always beat Houston. Though sometimes, they too had games where they took the easy way out and just iso (KD) and it would work maybe one game, but not for the whole series. The offense gets stagnant. Players tend to play less harder if they don’t feel involved and will then play less harder on defense. Kerr always made sure to move the ball. That’s why they played better without KD in 2019, and demolished the Rockets in the last two games of the series.
@@bespushkule3136 good a analysis man, so with that being said, do you think the rockets maybe could’ve beat the warriors in 2019 had KD got injured? Cause I genuinely think the rockets had it down to a science how to maintain that team, and had even come back from 20 down in game 5 to tie the game right when he got injured. I remember watching that game live and hearing Reggie Miller say “GS has had plenty of chances to put Houston away but they let Houston fight back in this game and now Gs is looking gassed”. Curry klay dray and kd were looking tired and it was getting stagnant, but as soon as KD went down, that OG warriors 2014-2015 team came to life and klay and curry were splashing and moving the ball just like the old days. I think that’s what threw the rockets off and cost them the series. They were wearing the kd warriors down and executing perfectly, but got thrown off by the sudden dynamic that the warriors were then dealing with. Maybe a far fetched analysis, but I wanted to get your opinion
@@mrtony80 I remember him saying about 5 years ago coaching is not for him tho patience wise. But his I think that's changed through the years especially with him coaching-mentoring a bunch of young stars in OKC. Hopefully he does coach tho
2018 wcf was the real finals. It just felt like the championship was on the line from start to finish. Great 7 game series. Warriors Cavs series was a joke. It took 50 points from lebron to send 1 game into overtime. Lol. Sweep
@@kevinjames60 but the same reason they don’t is because of steph lol: I remember charles saying no jump shot team could win a ring. Dudes ended up breaking the league
@@sirhoopalot1125 what r u talking about? Thats not relevant to my point. The clippers played them close but could never win. DJ posting up smaller dudes couldve been the difference. The reason gsw switches is because of the big man being obsolete. If DJ could post, steph wouldnt guard him.
@@sydguitar99 nope, at 1:40 he jumped to speaking of their offense with the clippers to explain how switching disrupted their offense. Edit: adjustrd time stamp
@@miker9825 my bad he said in "Our team was so good in Houston " Either way it was a positive response unlike how the media likes to show CP3 tenure in Houston
Yes because he couldn't adjust....he had the talent as always, but you give spo or pop those clipper teams and you will get a ring 1 or 2 in 6 years...this man couldn't make it 2 1 wcf......
This is why I think Barkley has no clue what the hell he's talking about. The NBA is a different game than it was 30 years ago. Switching takes away so much from opponents and old heads need to understand that.
It helps and hurts for sure. Switching does make some teams lazy on defense and like CP says it hurts rebounding. If you have bigs that can finish switching hurts
@@markteague49 cp also brung up how a switching defense also keeps defenses on high alert which meant they were always on top of who had a mismatch lol So they would send doubles to that miss match Celtics did the same to Joel and gave him a lot of trouble in this year’s playoffs even tho he avg 30 the Celtics gave him hell
Lol this is o so much cap it depends on matchups bro u can’t switch against that cavs team which why you’d see kyrie and Lebron destroy them. You can’t swith against lakers nuggets 76ers nun of em it’s useful against warriors offense
I love how jjs show doesn't try to MAKE a story he doesnt spin or twist anyones words for views he doesnt catfish me with his video thumbnails with pics of lebron about on a russ story he just bring guys on an let them talk keep up the great work dude
When JJ barrea said 'Draymond Green', it shows how real ballers respect Drayomnd. Draymond has elite basketball IQ, specially on defense and playmaking. Casuals make fun of triple single but his value is in his basketball IQ and facilitating others.
it makes sense why the death line up was so good. like the rockets, the warriors switche don everything. all 5 in the death lineup were very mobile, fast on rotates, and there were 3-4 on ball defenders. this death lineup was better than the rockets were because they had kd, a 7 ft, who could both rotate out on the perimeter and put on a good fight against bigs in the post. all makes sense now
Finally some one agrees that steph curry and don nelson style of playing small ball with the help of unselfish players the culture also steve kerr change the NBA
It’s funny, at the rec, I tell all of our defenses to just switch everything. And, it’s actually a really good strategy if everybody anticipates. Of course you get out of shape guys on fast guys. But, for the most part, it’s what I’ve said for years
LIIIITT!! love this format, wish so much that also the guests has a good microphone,so all the guys that follow you from other countries (I’m from Italy 🇮🇹) can understand better 😅 Nothing but love jj❤️
@Basement Network Of course you are not going to mention Iggy's injury, and the dude went out before CP3 injured his hamstring. Warriors lost their defense before the Rockets lost their offense 🤷♂️.
"Draymond has literally just switched six screens!" These pros actually recognize Draymond's ridiculous value. Casual fans who are haters only look at Draymond's PPG and say, "Oh He'S oVeRrAtEd!"
I’ve got nothing but respect for Draymond after his comment on Harden being severely underrated despite their team’s rivalry. Even though I used to cap hard on him lmao
Usually when players give interviews and do podcasts they just say a whole lot of nothing. Diet content, zero calories. This was incredibly insightful and makes perfect sense, and it is good to use an arguments against a lot of Houston’s haters. Imo Houston with cp3 and harden is the greatest team ever that never won a ring
That 2017-2018 team was so damn good. They were right there. 1 game away. I can’t imagine that cavs team woulda beat them. That CP3 injury will forever haunt Houston fans
DVH_Voltz in 2019 gsw have worse roster than 2018 Gsw are playing mckiniee , bell and cook with starter minutes and they are all either out of the league or in 4th string reserves
It ain’t no secret it’s they slowed game down and switched everything. This why I said klay slightly overrated eric Gordon bothered him so much and they made steph a driver.
slightly? lol eric gordon bothered klay because he can't really create his own shot. he has mediocre ball handling skills for a guard so when you take away the screen plays eric gordon just had to pressure him.
Klay is great for what he brings to the warriors (spacing & finishing) but he does get overrated sometimes when ppl say he’s on par or better than curry because he can play better defense
Freddy Calipari below average honestly I will give him credit for having decent ball security I guess. But eric Gordon arguably outplayed or at least equal him in that series. I think klay is great but it’s crazy how he dodge all criticism for his inconsistent playoffs
He's taking a good approach. If the guys see you're being a prick, then they won't come on your show so make it fun, maybe dip alittle into the sore spots, but keep it fun.
and yet still be ringless after all the teams he's been in. He'll be like all the other ex players turn commentators who still feel their butt hurt courtesy of MJ the GOAT.
Admitted Dubs fan: Say what you want about CP3, and I been a fan of his since the New Orleans Hornets (DWest, Peja, Chandler) and couldn't stand him as a Clip/Rocket---but game truly does recognize game. Takes a man to admit when he just can't beat somebody. Respect HOF.
Lòs Padrè the Houston Rockets took the warriors to a game 7.Chris Paul is one of the most if not the most impactful player in the league. You cannot tell me they would’ve won.
Weirdly, I'm like 80% Rockets win, 20% Cavs win. Rockets were obviously great with the CP3 and Harden attack. But, the Cavs that year while being not great, they had ways to attack Houston. They were a team that could go 5-out to mess with Clint Capela's impact. LeBron was ATG level offence that playoff run and part of it was through hunting for mismatches, and with how Houston played (switching every screen), it benefits Cleveland. But don't get it twisted, Houston was really good, and I'd say likely win 4-2.
He was going against 4 all stars by himself. Last time I checked, Lebron was in that same situation a week later and couldn't win a single game and now we expect Harden to😭
Teams might adopt the switch and help defense plan of Warriors and it's really happening today. In today's league, it's a fast paced game and everyone are quick release shooter.
GSW was great period! Saying you almost beat really does not matter... Houston had a shot to beat GSW again without KD and still failed. So it really means nothing, just move on. You guys just couldn’t beat them period.
