I'm creating a Realistic Super Mario Brothers Remake with Chris Pratt as Mario! This is a preview of the gameplay from world 2.
I am a life long Nintendo fan, and I'm very excited for the Super Mario animated movie from Illumination and Nintendo! So, I decided to make some sort of fan project while we're all waiting for a trailer. But, then I started to wonder what it would look like if Chris Pratt, Charlie Day, Anya Taylor-Joy, Jack Black, and Keegan-Michael Key, were actually these characters in a realistic mushroom Kingdom. That seemed like an incredibly fun idea, and that's why I'm attempting to make this game. With zero game development experience, I'm learning unreal engine from scratch and picking up any other skills that I can along the way, in an effort to make this a legitimately great action game!

This is the rare interpretation that is actually faithful to the game textures while at the same time re-imagining them with 3D and lighting. Great job!

Thanks! I'm glad you like it. I'd love to remake Metriod at some point. It's on the list! This stuff is definitely a lot of work, but its worth it. Being able to make that realistic nostalgic game that you always imagined is incredibly satisfying.

Despite having grown up with Super Mario Bros. 1-3, I never thought about all the laws of science being broken by Fire Mario shooting bloopers underwater until I saw this video. This is fantastic.

Lol i like it. But i think perhaps adding and extra playmode were Chris is constrained to a straight path like the universal laws have constipation could work. That way we can play in the free run semi open wor... i mean extro-linear world.. and this guy can play the locked in line mode more same to the original mario games pre 3d

The atmosphere and emotion reminds me of unreavel. As unreavel plays with the emotion of sadness through memories, this Mario-remake plays with similar emotions, as we see the 1985 hidden 3D surrounding, that finally is revealed after nearly 40 years and the sad music underlines the feeling of a kind of amazed realization, how many beauty we haven't been able to perceive, as it was in the hidden 3rd dimension to us the last 40 years. It's like a feeling of "how could i be so blind? It has been among us all the time, so we have to travel back in time"...

It looks amazing it's just the camera angle perspective is throwing me off, I'm so used to Mario being a side scroller seeing it from this angle it looks as if I can't observe the entirety of all of the world that's around him which is usually what you get to see when you play a regular Mario game even from a side view 🤔

Strange choice to have the bridge being destroyed in 2-3. I thought you were gonna just have them coming from the left and right and jumping over the bridge at different heights, he'd just be running fast and avoiding them. I could barely see it at the end but is koopa there with jack black's face 😆. This was pretty cool overall, well done.

i wish the fireballs bounced as they do in the game and that the fire columns in castle spun parallel to mario because that makes them feel much more twisted when they either chase you or come towards you

Only you had to put Brad Cooper as Chris Kyle and have actual Jeff Kyle as alternate for Mario and Luigi so the Kyle Bros in Backup or reinforcements and these guys are unstoppable

Fun idea with nice graphics and assets. It does looks a real headache to play though. With those controls and camera playing on a long thin isometric strip and having to line up the character.
