@@ChrisShiflett-wi4pz I have to admit that I completely missed Foo Fighters due to poverty, such that this video is my introduction to you. Thanks for representing humility and overall chillness while ego and aggressiveness are widely promoted.
I had the great pleasure of supporting Chris here in Denmark back in 2019 with my own band. Just the nicest guy. And we got to geek out a bit over the P90 Telecasters he was rocking at the time. Great fun, great evening.
Love Chris’ playing. Hes a rare breed these days. One of the few guitar players out there who can demonstrate the type of guitar playing that works from the theater to arena. Also just a great dude, glad hes using G3. Dan out here improving guitar players lives one at a time
Whenever you get imposter syndrome or question this RU-vid business, just remember CHRIS SHIFLETT learnt about parallel effects from YOUR video! Keep up the great work.
What a great, practical, no nonsense setup and interview. Chris really highlights how the G3 makes sense for those players that do not necessarily have over the top, pedal-centric boards. The parallel fuzz/overdrive function is revelatory. Much thanks, guys!
Great episode!! Chris is such a down to earth guy and rippin' guitarist. Thanks for not asking the unnecessary Foo Fighter questions - which maybe some other media outlets would try to capitalize on. You guys are too classy for that!
That’s absolutely awesome guys. Chris is one of my favourite guitarists. I run a soldano /ac30 rig because of him. His name is top of my list when the question name an underrated guitarist is asked. Plus I ordered a bunch of goodies from that pedal show store today so super excited for that too 🤘🎸
Excellent video and great material information guys! 🙏🏻It’s amazing how good sounds the Wampler Tumnus into the Strymon Iridium. ( digital amp) I am very very impressed and surprised that he already goes amp less but still his guitar rig sounds absolutely phenomenal!
Great video, Foo Fighters are the reason I picked up a guitar for the first time 24 years ago. Have not looked back since. Chris is a great player and a humble dude. Lovely stuff gents, great content.
Right there with you on that. First songs I learnt on guitar were Next Year, Learn To Fly and, of course, Everlong.... Make a point to learn each album when they release one.
Chris is a badass on the old gitfiddle...super sweet guy as well👍 Great show as always guys and mucho thanks for my harmonious monk mk2....loving it🙏🙏🙏
Lovely stuff, gang! Love that Chris moved through the different sounds in a manner that helped make the edit smoother - he defo watches the show. How nice that a triple A rockstar still has time for we geeks and loves the music so much that he does a van tour after all these years. Thanks for the episode, Team.
Dan needs to show this video as a perfect example of the beauty of G3. You can tell how buzzing Chris is about it, and the solutions it provides like parallel routing, pre and post gain etc. It's a fantastic piece of engineering.
The whole vid shows that thing -again- we all love about TPS: great tones from great players, good vibes and down to earth cool people. Fantastic stuff (gonna hug my G2 in a minute. lol)
Love this episode! Shifty is one of my favorites! Such a great guitar player and seems like such a genuine good dude. That you all got together is epic! Definitely enjoyed the mutual admiration amongst you.
Even though there is a difference in feel and I might get a lot of hate for saying this, I'm really starting to think that ampless rigs are the better option now - at least for shows and home use. The best guitar sounds at the concerts that I've been to in the last few years have usually been the ones without an actual amp. Under perfect conditions in a studio, there might still be a small difference, but any decently set up DI rig will sound better than a miced up cabinet on a noisy stage.
Wow what a great guy Chris is and what an awesome video for the channel! Been watching you guys for the last six or seven years and it's been so great to share in your journey. Was looking at an old video recently and it looks like you recorded in a cupboard - look at you now! I love the fact that big names in the industry have been watching your videos and seem genuinely chuffed to meet you too, and hear your opinions on gear and tones. Just placed my order for more socks and my first T-shirt ! Love you guys
Pure rock tones...... No messing around here. SO happy to see more artists pick up and use the G3. I have no idea why all these big rock stars are not using it. Makes no sense. It has everything they need, want, and more.
I’m not sure there is a cooler or nicer rock star than Chris - his podcast Walking the Floor is well worth a listen! I keep seeing more Iridium’s on pro boards - particularly those from Nashville or with ties to Nashville. Hard to argue with the result and convenience.
Chris is such a great guy chill guy and a better guitarist. I have seen this video like 8 times already. Love the Parallel sound. Definitely going to try it. I guess I also have to get a drop d pedal this is like the 8th video I have seen where someone says they love it or use it a lot.
Maan, so happy to see Chris using the Iridium, i’ve been struggling using mine live especially with in ears but he got a great full basic sound. I was almost selling mine. But now i will give more love and twickling on mine. Cheers guys. Thanks for sharing that interview. ❤
Andre, Mick here. It’s worth noting that the mix you’re hearing in this video also includes quite a bit of the room sound. Front of house was up nice and loud and I had an X-Y stereo pair about 20 feet from the stage, plus whatever was happening at the desk - i took a L-R feed direct off the desk. Plus, quite a bit of the hugeness comes from the doubling delay that //I think// is coming from the Deco. At first I thought something was MASSIVELY out of phase when I processed the audio, but actually one side is simply delayed which again //I think// is the Deco. So for sure the direct sound from the Iridium is pretty lacklustre….. but add the room and the doubling and it starts to sound pretty decent. Hope that helps!
Well this knocked my socks off! Fantastic interview with an absolute legend. I love The Foo’s of course but seeing Chris in his element like this is truly awesome! Thanks Dan & Mick ❤
Saw Chris Shiflett in Leeds on this tour. I noticed he was ampless. The sound was awesome though, and his playing really shone through. FOOS and Chris are my all time favourites.
Chris is the best. He came through Asheville on his previous solo tour and only a couple dozen people turned out. Thye put on a killer show and I snapped a pick of hia pedal board that night. This is a spaceship in comparison.
Great show Leg Ends , that Chris guy is such a good bloke , everyone you guys work with seem so decent, what happened to the Aholes of yesteryear. PEACE and LOVE to EVERYONE.
Superb video! Loved the faces when Chris cranked out those tones. Chris is a superb player, and lovely bloke by the looks & sounds of of things too. I have one of the Mex Shifty Tele Deluxe sigs in white, I really must use it more. I guess the ampless rig is a convenience thing for a small & short overseas tour? That Strymon did an amazing job though, that's the second time I've been impressed by one of these things in as many weeks.
Yeah that’s it Neill. Mick here - he’d prefer to have amps, but it does the job well for small van tours. Gotta say we didn’t love it direct, but once you mix in a good dollop of FOH (as we did here) it’s pretty decent!
